Enjoy my conversation with Mallary Hope where we talk about her beginnings in the music industry and some highlights along the way. We also have some good laughs talking about our families and crazy kiddos. "Mallary Hope is a Georgia-born storyteller who uses music to convey her experiences, and the world around her. At 9-years old, Hope – aptly named by her mom – began to understand that music is at the core of her being, as the sweet sound of Karen Carpenter's voice on The Carpenters' “Superstar” brought her to tears. A short couple of years later, Amy Grant's “El Shaddai” was the first song she learned to play on the guitar, followed by Dolly Parton's “Coat of Many Colors.” Mallary's childhood church provided her the first stage where she was able to share her captivating vocals with others. With supporting parents willing to give their daughter every opportunity they could, they moved the family to Nashville, where it didn't take long for Hope to meet plenty of supporters in the music industry, and for her to make it to one of the most legendary stages the world over – the Grand Ole Opry – where she has performed many times since. “I love Jesus and Johnny Cash,” shares Hope, exemplifying everything about her personal faith she wants to share with the world, along with her deep love and appreciation of music that knows no boundaries. “People want to be encouraged. My songs evoke emotion. It is my desire that my songs can bring meaning and clarity to the various things we all go through in our lives.”Hope, who has been covered by The New York Times, performed on Fox & Friends, receives airplay from both Christian and Country radio stations, and whose music videos are supported by CMT, has toured alongside artists as varied as Skillet and Darius Rucker, and has written songs for fellow artists like Lauren Alaina, Danny Gokey, Sara Evans, and Faith Hill. And as for the beginning of one of her life's dearest and most important relationships, her thoughtful boyfriend (at the time) proposed to her on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House, in one moment marrying multiple things dearest to Hope: her faith, her (future) husband, and of course, music. From the early and lasting influences of Karen Carpenter to Amy Grant to Dolly Parton, Mallary is using that beautiful voice with forever echoes of her deep American South upbringing, along with her overall inescapable platform of music, to share what inspires her, and encourage others along the way." Dax Perrier is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began taking his music career seriously during his time as a student athlete at the University of Oklahoma. Shortly after, his musical journey was put on hold due to unforeseen complications with the birth of his daughter and the death of his son. Since firing up again, he has formed what is known today as the Dax Perrier Band. The independent 5 piece group has lit a fire to the alternative side of country music with over 30,000 streams across 42 countries in the first 2 weeks of the debut studio album. Dax carries on the family name in the music industry after the recent passing of his grandfather, who was the frontman of a touring classic rock band in the early 70s. Dax's goal with every performance is to instill his passion and high energy into listeners in hopes of making them “feel something or forget about everything for a few minutes.” The Oklahoma native's latest album release ‘Bad for You' offers captivating ballads of loss, heartache and a whole lot of country rock n roll.
Gregory Porter was born in Sacramento, California and raised in Bakersfield, where his mother Ruth was a nurse and a minister. He was born November 4, 1971. He is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has twice won the Grammy award for best jazz vocal album: first in 2014 for Liquid spirit and then again in 2017 for Take me to the alley. A 1989 graduate of Highland high school, he received a full athletic scholarship as a football lineman to San Diego State University, but a shoulder injury during his junior year cut short his football career (he was an NFL hopeful). Porter's mother died from cancer when he was 21 years old and from her deathbed she advised him not to be discouraged but rather pursue singing. The rest is history, Porter is most noted for his unique blending genres of Jazz, blues, soul, and Gospel. Porter moved to Bedford Stuyvesant a section of Brooklyn, New York in 2004, along with his brother Lloyd. He worked as a chef at Lloyd's restaurant, where he performed. Porter performed at other neighborhood venues including Sistah's place and Solomon's porch, and moved to Harlem‘s club St. Nicks pub. Here he maintained a weekly residency and out of this residency evolved what would become his touring band. Porter is married to Victoria and they have two sons, Deymon and Liv. Their home is in Bakersfield, California. For public appearances, Porter always wears a hat reminiscent of a deerstalker incorporating fabric that covers his ears and chin. In a 2012 interview he explained the reason for the hat is he's had surgery on his skin and the hat has been his look for a while and continues to be for a little while longer. He divulged that he received some facial scars when he was young. The hat Is a Kangal summer Spitfire. Porter went from wowing fans in the stands as a football player. Now he continues to wow his fans throughout the world using his smooth baritone voice, unique style, and sophisticated sound. American Singer-Songwriter, Kelly Day, is "Sunny Bleau". The sultry, gregarious and personable woman called "Sunny Bleau" is known for her straight forward lyrics, passionate performances, strong vocals and playful personality. Kelly was given the nickname "Sunny" when she was younger. People close to Kelly describe her as a ray of sunshine when she enters a room. As Kelly and her Producer and song-writing partner, Nicholas A. Cocco, started to work on her first singles and stage show they wanted to create something that felt like an escape form the everyday. They also wanted to create something that would stand out in the Pop Blues genre. Combining Kelly's nickname "Sunny" with a creative and slightly suggestive spelling of the world blue (Bleau) was the first step. But who is Sunny Bleau?"Sunny Bleau looks at life through rose colored glasses (literally). She always sees the glass as half full and she is always ready to have a good time. Sunny is who every person who feels like life shit all over them wants to be around! Think about who and what you could be and do if only... people could look past the size, shape and color of another person. If only people would stop telling us that we're no good, or that we're not talented enough or that we're too heavy or too short! What would life be like without hurt or abuse? Imagine a life without regret! Yes, a life without social depression! A life without being afraid! A life where you don't feel unworthy! A life without racism or classism... a life without labels! Sunny lives in that imaginary utopia where love and acceptance flows like honey and carbohydrates (and maybe a protein) are served at every meal! Sunny is big, beautiful, bold, strong, and compassionate. She isn't afraid of life, love, romance or her curves! She tells stories about what's in her heart that offer a simple escape from the craziness of the world. She isn't afraid to put herself out there for the world to see and to escape with! Sunny is on a journey to provide a musical vehicle to all who need to feel included in a positive, warm, playful environment. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Courtney Turcotte Bond is a freelance writer, poet, and blogger, but she's had a dream to write a book since she was eight years old. Thirty years later, that dream has finally become a reality with her debut novel, Breathtaking. When she is not writing or teaching, you can find Courtney running her cake pop business (Bondbons), singing along to every lyric at a concert, or traveling the country. Courtney shares her inspiring entrepreneurial journey with her cake pop business motivated by the pure goal of paying off student loans. She also unpacks what it looked like for her to take yet another risky step into writing and publishing her first novel. That journey was sparked by one of her students who had cystic fibrosis named Madison. Madison had received a double lung transplant at the age of 13 which extended her life by another 6 years. Courtney aims to highlight life with cystic fibrosis and the power of organ donorship in her novel. Make sure you check out the links for her book in the show notes.
