Taylor Swift just shook up the podcasting world…again. While Marc is away at Camp Footprint serving as a counselor, DR and the crew take the wheel to unpack Swift's surprise reveal of The Life of a Showgirl on Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, the surge in engagement it sparked, and what it means for the Kelce brand. We also look at a new study showing most listeners only make time for three podcasts each week and how creators can earn a place in that lineup. Then, we break down AUSHA's newly opened PSO control panel, now giving indie podcasters access to tools once reserved for big networks. To wrap things up, we explore the legal risks of selective editing and share our own stories about when cutting content crosses the line.Episode Highlights: [02:19] Daily Habits for Podcasters[05:28] Taylor Swift's Surprise Album Drop[10:35] Podcast Listening Habits Study[15:08] Job Openings in Podcasting[16:48] New PSO Tools for Podcasters[21:54] Legal Risks in Podcast Editing[35:41] Trust and Boundaries with Podcast GuestsLinks & Resources: Join The Empowered Podcasting Facebook Group:www.facebook.com/groups/empoweredpodcastingGet Your Tickets for The Empowered Podcasting Conference:www.empoweredpodcasting.comPodNews Job Listings:www.podnews.netSwift's 12th Album Surprise Announcement: https://bit.ly/414fJ6BHow Editing Can Create Legal Risks: https://bit.ly/4mfGHAzAusha's New Version Of PSO Panel: https://podnews.net/press-release/ausha-pso-openRemember to rate, follow, share, and review our podcast.

Juni 2022, in Folge 262 - Link in Bio!

Welcome to this week's Indie Artist Music Hustle with Blonde Intelligence. I am your host, Ms. Roni, and I always seek to give you exquisite cranial repertoire. Ever wondered what happens when musical passion meets life's unexpected turns? Lindsey Ferguson's story captivates as she reveals the winding path that led to her debut album "Being a Girl" on this episode of Indie Artist Music Hustle.Lindsey takes us from her early songwriting days at age 11 through her music business education at NYU, where she gained crucial knowledge about distribution, royalties, and promotion strategies that many independent artists miss. She offers a fascinating comparison between the New York and Los Angeles music scenes—noting that while both cities overflow with talent, LA's physical spaciousness creates more opportunity for meaningful artistic connections and collaborations. The heart of our conversation unveils the deeply personal journey behind "Being a Girl." Lindsay's album chronicles her evolution from struggling with dating in New York City to completing her master's degree during pandemic isolation (celebrating her virtual graduation alone in her childhood bedroom) to falling in love with a producer who taught her production skills over Zoom. That creative partnership blossomed into both romance and artistic collaboration when she moved to Los Angeles, forming "Ned and Wendy the Band" with her now-fiancé.We dive into the tension many artists feel between creative authenticity and marketing demands. Lindsey candidly admits that social media pressures initially deterred her from fully committing to music, though she's now reluctantly embraced platforms like TikTok while maintaining her artistic integrity. Her approach balances building a genuine online presence while acknowledging the practical necessities of music promotion.Listen to "Being a Girl" on all streaming platforms and follow Lindsey's musical journey on Instagram @lindseybinsey95 or YouTube at Lindsey Ferguson Music. Whether you're an aspiring musician or simply love hearing stories of creative resilience, this episode offers both practical wisdom and heartfelt inspiration. JJ Julius Son of @kaleoofficial is here this week, and I'm super excited to share this one with you!! JJ's been in the US for over a decade now and proudly celebrates his native Iceland and its vibrant music community. Having grown up on the classic rock albums, JJ has crafted his own anthemic sound, culminating in the vast soundscapes present on his new album, MIXED EMOTIONS. JJ's unfiltered and stripped down vibe is super refreshing and we share tons of laughs as he talks to me about his love for live music, Icelandic folk tales and the energy of the live show. Having toured the globe now for the better part of his time in the America, JJ has tons of stories and insights and we go deep into his onstage mindset and how the energy from his fans and his own staunch determination continues to fuel his tank. This is a fascinating conversation — JJ is a deeply compelling artist with a powerful voice both on and off stage. We dispense with the niceties this month and discuss an album where we have quite differing opinions. Welcome to Episode 56 of This is Not Happening (TINH), an Album of the Month (AOTM) Podcast. In Part 1 we deep dive into an Album that one of us has chosen and in Part 2 we play 'Spin it or Bin it'. We pick a theme and each pick a song that represents that theme. We judge the selections by asking the question 'Spin It or Bin It'?In Part 1, David, resident 'Pop Being', has the pleasure of presenting an album from one of his genuine musical obsessions. 'Saya' the latest release by Saya Gray.In Part 2, following the theme of 'Saya', break-up and heart-break, we play Spin It or Bin It with the simple theme of 'Heart Break' with no additional rules! ----- Part 1 | Saya Gray | 'Saya' -----To say David is a Saya Gray fan is something of an understatement. He has been championing the strange sounds of Saya for nearly 3 years. Nobody's really sure if this is her debut album or not but that's not important. It is an album and an artist that has divided opinion on the pod. 2 of us love this album, 1 of us doesn't, and 1 of us has had such a busy month at work that we have no idea what they think pre-recording.Regardless of how we feel about this album individually, we all think it's an album that deserves a listen. Listen to the album, listen to the pod, tell us what you think.Listen to the album ... HERE.Watch the World Cafe Podcast / Interview ... HERE.Watch the AMAZING Tiny Desk Performance ... HERE.Watch some 'Visualisers' (music videos!?!) ... HERE.Buy some stuff ... HERE. ----- Part 2 | Spin It or Bin It | 'Heart-Break -----Was music originally created to express heart-break? Probably not but it definitely feels like it when you start looking for your favourite tracks that embrace the subject. We've chosen a track each that may not be what you expect.Guy chose 'A Little Respect' by Erasure. David chose 'Already Dead' by Beck. Joey chose 'It's Not Right, But It's Okay' by Whitney Houston. Nolan chose 'Shiver' by Lucy Rose. Send us a textKansas City-based post-metal duo Idle Heirs, featuring Coalesce frontman Sean Ingram and producer/musician Josh Barber, have announced the release of their debut album, Life Is Violence, dropping April 11th, 2025. The album will be celebrated with a record release show the same evening at Warehouse on Broadway in Kansas City, MO, alongside metal heavyweights Norma Jean.Born from necessity and personal upheaval, Life Is Violence is a searing, emotionally charged collection of eight tracks written and recorded in complete creative isolation at Ocean Sound Studio in Norway. The collaboration between Ingram and Barber—longtime friends and kindred spirits—came to fruition after years of false starts, catalyzed by Barber's self-imposed writing retreat in the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by storms and solitude, he created the sonic foundation for what would become Idle Heirs. The band recently appeared on The Vulgar Display of Podcast, part of The Barn Podcast Network, in which Ingram and Barber discussed their intense creative process, the album's introspective themes of grief, generational trauma, and paternal legacy, and why they originally never intended for these songs to be shared publicly.Singles like Dead Ringer and Pillow Talk give a glimpse into the band's dynamic range—melding haunting atmosphere, crushing weight, and a raw vocal performance that sees Ingram pushing into new territory far beyond his hardcore roots. With Life Is Violence, Idle Heirs offer more than an album—they deliver a moment of vulnerability and defiance, shaped by isolation, purpose, and love.Catch Idle Heirs live on April 11 at Warehouse on Broadway for their official album release show.www.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. Hooray! Happy to announce the release of my new album Moon Harp. This track is a little different to my usual style. Here I explore sustained notes and layers of ethereal harmonies to create this moon song called Aura. It's hypnotic, dreamy and meditative, being almost 20 mins long. Ice crystals + Refracted Moonlight = Moon Aura. How cool is that?

In addition to attending the Keynote address, you have the opportunity to choose four enriching classes out of the 16 available options, designed to elevate your gardening skills so that you will Garden with Confidence.Joining me in the second hour is musician and activist Rebecca Martin. She has shaped a singular career devoted to the beauty and possibility of pure creative discovery. After getting her start as co-founder of the pioneering jazz-pop duo Once Blue, the New York-based singer/songwriter went on to release a series of acclaimed solo albums animated by the quiet force of her captivating vocals, and collaborating along the way with her husband, the jazz bassist Larry Grenadier and luminaries Argentine pianist Guillermo Klein and legendary jazz drummer Paul Motian.Produced by Rebecca Martin and recorded in Portugal by Mário Barreiros, SHE features 13 original songs that blend voice and acoustic guitar to create a minimalistic yet powerful sound with deep emotional resonance. Exploring themes of identity, transformation, and the passage of time, the album fosters a reflective, meditative space that invites listeners to fully immerse themselves in its introspective atmosphere. In one of her boldest turns to date, Martin's new album SHE (Sunnyside Records) marks her first body of work made entirely on her own. Martin graces every moment of SHE with the clarity and character of her distinct vocal phrasing. As revealed throughout her new recording, Martin's commitment to creating space informs nearly all aspects of her artistry, including everything from the album's sparse orchestration to her underlying desire to summon a gratifying sense of stillness within all those who listen. Rebecca will be performing songs from the album joined by Clare Manchon and Anthea White on background vocals during the album's Release Party at The Local on February 28th in Saugerties.Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast
