The full panel gets together this week to mull over what was a pretty slow week in Android news - Joe had just put out a great review of Android Marshmallow, so that serves as our platform for the majority of the episode. Jonathan Feist, Andrew Grush, Nirave Gondhia, Joe Hindy, and host Joshua Vergara talk video games, homescreen setups, and even cars for a minute because the Marshmallow conversation just naturally veers in that direction. We know that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but you guys should know by now that the digressions come hard and fast for the AA Podcast crew! But in light of a slow Android news week, we had to talk about the week's biggest news - the return of Windows Mobile. Though Nokia as a company is, for the most part, fully absorbed into Microsoft and virtually unrecognizable, the new Lumia devices did actually get us a little excited for a platform that simply doesn't get a lot of play compared to Android and iOS. Will we dive into the Lumias and do a few off-platform reviews? Only time will tell, but until then we have this conversation about the new announcements. The Android Authority Podcast - discussing topics in Android every week.

One of the nice things about the current monoform world of slab smartphones is that there are very few moving parts to break. Until, that is, you decide to defy common sense and stick your brand new Galaxy Note 5's S Pen into its silo backwards. That's when life stops getting funny ... and starts getting real. Join us for a debate on whether this is an example of terminal user stupidity or inexcusable design flaw, and then stick around for all the news of the week in mobile technology, from the new Nexus to the new Lumias to the old (and now dead) Fire Phone. All that –plus your listener mail– awaits below on episode 163 of your favorite tech podcast! Never let it be said that Multimedia Manager Jaime Rivera isn't a trouper. In the hot Honduras heat, with no power and no A/C (and, incidentally, no shirt), he still manages to show up on-time to the Pocketnow Weekly podcast. That right there is some broadcast heroism, folks. No matter what Taylor Martin's new-office excuses are. But that's not what we're here to talk about. No, we're about a week overdue for an audio-only examination of Nokia's newest flagship, the Lumia 1020: we'll cover it's high, low, and so-so points, and debate just how much action a phone has to bring to be worth $300 on contact. We'll also talk the smaller side of the spectrum with HTC's new One Mini, examining the age-old question of just how much compromise a company can get away with when it claims to have made "no compromise" in designing a product. All that, plus a sweet joke from the cult comedy flick Airplane!, after the break. So ice down your Americano and grab your folding fan: today's Pocketnow Weekly Podcast is about to bring some heat into your listening space. We think it's pretty fair to say that MWC 2013 was one part IFA and one part CES: a few stark disappointments peppered among some really amazing stuff. We've seen technology this week ranging from the incredible to the absurd - from the third iteration of ASUS's wild Padfone concept to the improbable debut of a Kyocera Echo lookalike. The big guys have come out to play, too, but they're a little shy this time around: neither Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 nor Nokia's midrange Lumias blew the roof off the joint. Even a few has-beens came out to confuse us with their wares, some of which will be discussed in today's podcast. The grand spectrum of awful to awesome we witnessed at MWC 2013 is a beautiful thing, and we want to share it with you. So put your stunna shades on and throw some olives on your pizza, because this week's special edition of the Pocketnow Weekly just rolled out of the brick oven. And, incidentally, we've got new tunes on the front and back side, so we think that's pretty rad. Send feedback, questions, and requests to podcast [AT] pocketnow [DOT] com.
