Networking can be an invisible part of IT infrastructure, but AI is creating demands that make it a critical part of keeping AI application fed with data. Mike Fratto returns to the podcast to discuss both the long haul and local requirements for AI networking with host Eric Hanselman. It's always been important to link chunks of infrastructure efficiently, but AI's voracious need for data has dramatically increased the scope and scale of the need. The risk that any gap in performance or capacity presents is that precious GPU resources will be idled, an increasingly expensive proposition. The realities of AI application architectures is that infrastructure is ever more hybrid, requiring access to repositories of data both on-premises and in various clouds and models scattered across various providers. The need for dynamic connectivity is driven by the rapid evolution of preferences for new models and the diversifying needs of agents to reach new data sources. It's not only forcing network expansion, but it's also driving M&A activity as network providers look to enhance automation in response to customer demands. On Tuesday's Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett starts off today's show sharing his thoughts on PiggyGate and the Mariners cannot continue putting Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo in this situation. Something needs to change and it needs to change quickly. John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com sits down with Puck to discuss the biggest question marks for all the northwest college football schools heading into the summer. Will WSU fans step up? Can Jedd Fisch get his offensive going? Will Dante Moore take the next step and is JaMarcus Shephard ready at Oregon State? They also discuss the Pac-12 and MWC financial settlement that appears to greatly benefit the Pac-12 and they discuss the Washington State baseball team qualifying for postseason play and will be playing Oregon State on Friday in the Eugene regional. Brad Adam, Mariners TV, joins Puck from Sacramento and he's trying to make sense of what's going on with Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo and could this be a problem in the Mariners clubhouse? Puck gets a special visit from Bill Krueger, “Old School Baseball” who has some serious issues with how the Mariners are handling Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo. Bill states that the Mariners need to make a call now and put an end to the piggyback. “On This Day…” A Boston Garden miracle Puck wraps up the show with, “Hey, What the Puck!?” Left for dead and WSU baseball pushes through(1:00) Puck (8:18) John Canzano (32:13 ) Brad Adam (47:57) Bill Krueger, “Old School Baseball” (1:05:55) “On this Day….” (1:15:15 ) “Hey, What the Puck!?”
What happens when the promise of endless choice starts to feel more like endless complexity? Recorded live at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Matthew Roberts is joined by Amit Nag, Vice President, Connected Products & Experiences of TELUS, and Ragu Masilamany, Amdocs General Manager, for a conversation about what Amit calls the “grand reaggregation”, a shift toward making digital life simpler again across entertainment and the smart home. After years of apps, devices, subscriptions, and services multiplying in every direction, the discussion explores why consumers may now be ready for a more unified experience that brings choice back under a simpler, more intuitive layer. The conversation looks at how AI is changing what that unified experience can actually feel like. From smart home platforms that bring together Wi-Fi, IoT, cameras, sensors, and locks, to generative interfaces that help people interact with their homes in more natural ways, Amit outlines a future where the user no longer has to navigate the complexity behind the scenes. Instead, the system interprets context, assembles the right actions, and creates an experience that feels coherent rather than fragmented.
What happens when AI stops being theoretical and starts changing the physical world? Recorded live at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Matthew Roberts is joined by Daniel Lawson, SVP, Global Solutions of Verizon Business and co-host, Ganesh Balasubramanian, VP, CBE at Amdocs, for a conversation about the moment enterprise technology seems to be entering now: where AI, 5G, edge computing, and connected devices are no longer separate conversations, but part of the same operational reality. From robotics on the show floor to real-world deployments in healthcare, manufacturing, and logistics, they explore what it means when long-promised technologies finally begin to converge at scale. The discussion looks closely at the platform challenge behind that shift. As Daniel explains, enterprise AI is not just about better models, but about building the orchestration, resilience, security, and connectivity needed to turn intelligence into action in the real world. Together, they unpack why the network is becoming a strategic layer again, and why platform simplification, stronger ecosystems, and partner-led innovation will be critical to delivering the next generation of enterprise use cases.

At the Mobile World Congress 2026, one theme rose above everything else: generative AI. Amdocs CEO, Shimie Hortig, joins The Great Indoors to discuss the shift from AI excitement to real-world execution. As generative AI dominates the conversation, Shimie explains that while the technology is advancing at extraordinary speed, enterprise adoption remains far behind. The result is what he calls the “value gap” which is the growing distance between what AI is capable of and what organizations are actually able to implement in ways that deliver measurable results. Together with Matthew Roberts, Shimie explores why closing that gap is so difficult, from security and integration to compliance and organizational change. Recorded live in Barcelona, the episode also captures the intensity of MWC itself and the importance of direct customer feedback in shaping what comes next. At its core, this is a conversation about moving from possibility to practice and about what it will take for the industry to turn AI momentum into real business value.
While the annual gathering of all things telecom might have been dampened by geopolitical impacts, Mobile World Congress was still a hotbed of everything new and next. Analysts Raul Castañon-Martinez and Rich Karpinski join host Eric Hanselman to discuss what they saw in Barcelona and what it portends for not only the telecom players, but also the wider technology ecosystem that was clamoring for attention. MWC has evolved into an event that spans technology in many different forms. There's a telecom anchor that expands from smartphones, to infrastructure, out to AI and agentic, even out to quantum computing. There seemed to be more quantum computers on display than the perennial stand attraction – Formula 1 cars. This year presented and more pointed challenge to telecom operators to make the jump into being technology providers. There's certainly a desire to get to a "Connectivity plus" footing, but there are many ecosystem players looking to be the provider of choice for AI services. Operators are trying to avoid the over-the-top displacement of previous tech transitions, but they're facing a much broader set of competitors. MWC Barcelona 2026 made one thing clear: the telecom industry is entering a new phase, where AI feels more tangible, policy feels more urgent, and innovation is being judged by its real-world impact. In this episode, Matthew Roberts welcomes Lara Dewarr, CMO of the GSMA, back to the podcast for a wide-ranging conversation on what this year's event revealed about the future of connectivity. From AI's shift into more embodied, agentic, and consumer-facing experiences to the growing importance of inclusion, regulation, and practical use cases, Lara offers a front-row view of where the industry is heading next. She reflects on 20 years of MWC in Barcelona, the role the event plays in bringing together industry and government, and why marketers, operators, and policymakers are now all grappling with the same challenges. The conversation also explores the risk of leaving communities behind in the AI era, the need for more locally relevant technology, and why sectors like healthcare may be next in line for telecom-led transformation. So if you are interested in the absolute latest from MWC and what it means for telecom on a larger scale, press play!
