"Now hear this. No hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off we dive back into Deep Space Nine, and our favorite egomaniacal freedom fighter, Michael Eddington returns for his heroic swan song ending. General Martok teaches his fellow Klingons how to turn each other's faces into paste. Speaking of the Klingons, they are now in an alliance with the Federation as the Cardassians have taken up with the Dominion. Needless to say the Alpha Quadrant political situation is tense. The Maquis are all but wiped out, because come to find out, the Dominion plays by a different set of rules than the Federation. They have just about eradicated the Maquis minus a small holdout who have launched a spiteful, and final attack against the Cardassians using cloaked missiles. This gets us back to Eddington. Sisko forcibly enlists Eddington to help him locate the launch site to ensure this final attack is stopped. Lots of discussion about Eddington as a leader and as a man. Is he a good leader? How close is he to Rebecca? Will Brian's insight into the Maquis give us more sympathy for this rag-tag group? We present to you Blaze of Glory, from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Michael Eddington At the start of Deep Space Nine's third season, more than a new ship arrived. A new character also joined the crew, one who was meant to serve as a foil of sorts for Odo and as a fill-in for O'Brien when Colm Meaney was away on a film projects. With the Dominion stirring fear, and concern growing over Odo's approach to security, Starfleet sent one of its best to the station to ensure that the Federation maintained full control over its own interests. But things didn't quite play out as the admirals—or the writers—had planned. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing take a closer look at Michael Eddington as they discuss the character from conception to conclusion. Did he serve his initial purpose? Why did he join the Maquis? Why such a beef with Sisko? Join us for a deep dive into the mind of Michael Eddington as he casts himself as the hero of his own story, based on his favorite book, Les Misérables. "Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off, Captain Sisko is hot on the trail of Michael Eddington, the former Starfleet Security man who has gone rogue, and now leads the Maquis who are bent on stopping the forced relocation of 100,000 colonists. Discussion topics this week: Is Eddington acting morally? Is Sisko? What makes a terrorist? Are both men acting selfishly and is that bad, morally speaking? Does altruism exist? Will Nathan's unforeseen car repair turn this once freedom-loving man, into a dour bureaucrat who wants the powers that be to sign away your liberty for the greater good? “The Search, Part I“ When it comes to that moment when Deep Space Nine shifted in tone and became the more complex series that set it apart from the rest of Star Trek, fans most often point to “The Way of the Warrior” and the start of Season 4. But it was actually the arrival of a cloaked starship named Defiant—Sisko's little surprise for the Dominion—to kick off Season 3 that signaled a change which would send ripples through DS9's storytelling. In this episode of The Orb, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing start our two-part exploration of “The Search” with a focus on the first half. We discuss the introduction of the Defiant, Michael Eddington, the growing feeling of family, and Odo's search for identity. We also explore cloaking technology and the Federation, Sub-Commander T'Rul's apparent expertise in the state of the Defiant's engines, and the practicality of hairstyles. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Series 5, Episode 23. First broadcast on Monday, 12 May 1997. Previously, on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Tired of being a supporting character in a thankless role, Michael Eddington leaves DS9 to star heroically in a TV show which we never see and which exists entirely in his own imagination. After most of the cast and crew are killed by Cardassians — which can happen — and he himself is imprisoned for treason, he is recruited by Sisko for one final mission — to stop a deadly attack on Cardassia that is also entirely imaginary. Hero, traitor, or just some asshole with bad hair and a penchant for lavish Broadway musicals? Let's find out.
Sisko begins to obsessively pursue Federation traitor, Michael Eddington, causing Ben to compromise on his beloved Starfleet morals and policies. In an episode that sets up Sisko for what comes next, this was an important to stop and see before heading into that big adventure. If you're watching with us, the next episode will be on Star Trek: Voyager | Blood FeverContact the show:email: beammeuppod@gmail.comTwitter: @beammeuppodInstagram: @beammeuppodWebsite: beammeuppod.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/beammeuppod)Head over to beammeupgiveaway.com to be entered into our giveaway for this month. Michael Eddington, Jean Valjean, and Les Misérables. Star Trek’s heroes have always been avid readers. From The Complete Works of Shakespeare on display in Picard’s ready room to Janeway’s treasured volumes of Dante to Michael Burnham’s well-thumbed copy of Alice’s in Adventures in Wonderland, Starfleet’s finest have shown us that—even in humanity’s far future—great works of literature will continue to resonate and inspire. Less frequently, however, Trek’s villains have proved themselves equally well-read, with Kirk’s antagonists Khan and Chang spewing out lines from Melville and Shakespeare as they pursued their diabolical schemes. And in the Deep Space Nine episode “For the Uniform,” another classic text proves key to defeating the Maquis traitor Michael Eddington, as Captain Sisko and Jadzia Dax turn to Eddington’s favorite novel, Victor Hugo’s 1862 Les Misérables, in search of clues about their enemy’s personality. In this episode of Primitive Culture, hosts Clara Cook and Duncan Barrett consider Les Misérables—a giant of nineteenth-century literature—along with some of its most successful adaptations as they look at how it connects both to “For the Uniform” and to Star Trek as a whole. We question whether Eddington’s casting of himself and Sisko in the roles of Jean Valjean and Javert respectively makes much sense when you read the source material, how Star Trek’s ideas about policing the galaxy reflect Hugo’s views on crime and punishment, and whether—in the utopian future of the Federation—it’s still possible for certain unlucky individuals to fall through the cracks. After a brief visit from Javisko and Valjeddington, the crew is joined by Jovan Vignjevic to discuss the big Eddington-Les Miserables episode. And you just know you’ve been wanting to explore the world of MathBach; this episode is your chance! We’ll also be discussing the political landscape of Serbia and other Eastern European countries, the complete scariness Sisko exudes in this episode, and the ethics of the Maquis war - is anyone really a good or bad guy? You’d better believe Maquis levels of sadness are achieved swiftly. And you’d better believe that despite all the exciting references to musicals and Michael Eddington, one host will disappear entirely around halfway through the episode. Sometimes, discussing the Eddington-Sisko rivalry can be so exhausting, an RTWer can’t handle it! Tune in to find out who!
Michael Eddington is back, and Sisko isn't pleased. After the betrayal of one of Starfleet's own, an obsession has grown in the captain, and he is willing to risk everything to bring in his nemesis. But, at what cost? Find out as Dr Bill, Paul, J David, and Andrew talk about another episode of the beloved Star Trek series, Deep Space Nine.Feedback for this show can be sent to: listentotheprophets@gmail.comListen to the Prophets is a proud member of the Two True Freaks! O Canada…. Our home and native land! Come one and all, and witness the epic war to decide which country is superior: Canada or the US! The crew is joined by Canadians Barm, Geoff Clarke, and Jason Majeski in this wild, raucous episode that marks the end of the Maquis, the end of Eddington, and the origin of the “Eddington Clause” on RTW. But be forewarned: the spirit of the Canucks is alive and well, and they’ll dive headfirst into discussions about Canadian things like loonies/toonies, Maquis ringleader Michael Eddington, the metric system, and high levels of inebriation. Take a listen for a healthy dose of DS9 and Canada discussion, and a whole lot of craziness.
Ooooh it's time for a game changer! In an episode that is often credited with launching the main DS9 story line into action, this episode features the introduction of a new ship, a new Canadian friend, and a whole host of other firsts! Our old Canadian friend, Barm, busts his way in to discuss Sisko bullying Quark, the sexiness (or creepiness?) of Michael Eddington, possibilities of upcoming Trek shows, and of course, CG Tarkin. Join the Great Link, for the very first time!

Season 5, episodes 23 and 24: Dear listeners, after a few weeks locked inside a couple stasis chambers, we have returned to wreak havoc like drug-crazed Cardassian soldiers. But first, Michael Eddington reveals a terrifying fact: he's Canadian.
This week we discuss how much we really didn't care about Michael Eddington as a dramatic foil, we give our thoughts on DS9's take on a haunted house story, and Sarah yells GEOSTOOOORM! a lot.
This week on UP2, Chris and Blair take a look at the concluding episode of the Eddington/Maquis storyline, “Blaze of Glory.” When he gets word of cloaked missles heading for Cardassian space, Sisko enlists the help of convict Michael Eddington in tracking them down and putting a stop to them. But tensions are high, leaving […]

CAPTAIN SISKO! Deep Space Nine has a captain, FINALLY! Celebrate with us the greatest captain in Star Trek. Oh, plus: Fun with changelings; Book corner history with Larry Nevin; and commander Red Herring, the worst reality show contestant ever, Michael Eddington shows up again(he's here to make friends). Hunt for Red October and The Thing are both referenced. Things are happening in the alpha and gamma quadrants, and… Things will never be the same [ominous music]. It's the end of the season and things are looking up! In the Great Link (44:20) we commune with Greg, and talk some facets of Dax and a little Bashir. Dryvetyme reminds us why Sisko is the best dad in Starfleet.
It’s the re-return of Michael Eddington in “Blaze of Glory”, which is a decent episode that nonetheless falls down on making us care about the Maquis. Then, in “Empok Nor”, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine does a slasher film, to varying degrees of success. Plus! Aw, Nog! iTunes Google Play RSS
“For the Uniform” features the kind of abrupt return of everyone’s favorite Maquis, Michael Eddington. “In Purgatory’s Shadow” features the kind of abrupt return of everyone’s favorite villain, The Dominion. Shit’s getting real, folks. iTunes Google Play RSS
For the Uniform. We knew from the start that Benjamin Sisko had a temper. After all, he punched Q in the face in the sixth episode of the series. But if you really make Sisko mad he'll do more than just punch you. He'll chase you down in a broken ship and then try to punch a holographic projection of you. That's what happened to Michael Eddington when he decided to escalate the Maquis-Starfleet conflict by sabotaging the Defiant and attacking a Cardassian colony with biogenic weapons. In this episode of The Ready Room we're joined by Ben McCormick, Mike Schindler, and Max Hegel to discuss Peter Allan Fields's futuristic take on Les Misérables, the extreme tactics of both Eddington and Sisko, and how this episode paves the way for another of Fields's classics, “In the Pale Moonlight.” We also explore the creative communication methods employed in this story, including the holographic communicator and the shouting Ferengi. In news we get into the Halloween mood with our favorite scary or spooky Star Trek episodes, debate the results of a poll that asked which character should have died differently, take a look at a new Starfleet uniforms infographic, and hear a few tidbits about the next Star Trek film.
