Danielle goes big for St. Patrick's Day with the (probably mildly offensive to Irish everywhere) 1999 mini-series, The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns. When American, Randy Quaid, heads to Ireland on a mysterious work trip, he gets more than he bargained for when he realizes he's sharing a home with a leprechaun (Colm Meaney, obviously). He makes quite the impression on the small town (and Sam), when he immediately peeping-toms his beautiful neighbor, then trespasses on her property, and then somehow talks the town priest into taking his side when she complains; it's fine though, they're love interests. That can't matter less, however, because he quickly gets involved in the easily-prevented war between the faires and leprechauns. These immortal folk, who control all of nature, are forever at odds. When the fighting grows between their kind and Mother Nature starts to suffer, well-known Irish comedian Whoopi Goldberg (????), as their despotic Great Banshee, flies in to make it way worse by giving them the curse of mortality. When Princess Jessica of the fairies and leprechaun Mickey Muldoon, son of Colm Meaney, fall in love at a (possibly racist) masked ball, they soon realize that mortality will be the death of them (duh). Will these two kids make it? Will Whoopi Goldberg ever figure out her Irish accent? Will Randy Quaid end up behind bars where he likely belongs? Or will the war destroy them all and nature itself? The stakes have never been higher (and less necessary) this week on Book Retorts.
Peadar Cox talked to Conor Tallon about what it's like to work with actors who need to speak Irish on screen! As some of the characters in Bring them Down need to do. Rollista (i urval) Steven Seagal – Casey Ryback Tommy Lee Jones – William Strannix Gary Busey – kommendörkapten Krill Erika Eleniak – Jordan Tate Patrick O'Neal – kommendör Adams Andy Romano – amiral Bates Nick Mancuso – Tom Breaker Lee Hinton – Cue Ball Troy Evans – Granger Damian Chapa – Tackman Glenn Morshower – fänrik Taylor Dale Dye – kommendör Garza Raymond Cruz – Ramirez

On this special episode, Eric chats with Christopher Andrews, director of Bring Them Down starring Barry Keoghan, Christopher Abbott, Nora-Jane Noone, Paul Ready, Aaron Heffernan, Conor MacNeill, Susan Lynch and Colm Meaney.
Irish sheep farming, deep-seated family tensions, and a brewing conflict between neighbors—sounds like the setup for a quiet indie drama. But in"Bring Them Down," the upcoming revenge thriller from first-time directorChris Andrews, those elements fuel a gripping, morally complex battle of wills. In this episode ofThe Discourse, hostMike DeAngelo sits down with actor Christopher Abbott to discuss leading the film, producing it, and why he was drawn to a story steeped in generational trauma and rural survival. The film also stars Barry Keoghan, Colm Meaney, Nora-Jane Noone, and more. For Christopher Abbott, the chance to dive into such a layered role was too intriguing to pass up—even if it meant embracing the challenges of an Irish dialect. “I think I have a little bit of a knack for accents,” he admitted, though he knew even Irish actors would struggle with the script's use of the traditional Irish/Gaelic language. “It was always going to be a challenge for anyone.” Despite the difficulty, Abbott was drawn to the project for the same reason he takes on most of his work—it keeps him engaged. “I get bored easily,” he said. “I like challenges that keep my focus.”

Welcome to another episode of the Dave Moore Podcast! There is some more Hollywood royalty in this episode as Dave met Colm Meaney and Paul Reiser and gifted them both a bag of Meanies. We also got the wonderful Today FM listeners to give us their best Movie Titles that include Dog puns.
Paul Reiser is a comedian, actor, writer and producer who just happens to have starred in some of Team Empire's favourite films. So, when our Chris Hewitt was given the chance to talk to the star of Aliens, Diner, Whiplash, and Beverly Hills Cop, he jumped at the chance. The result is a wide-ranging and freewheeling chat about Reiser's astonishing start in Hollywood, his aversion to directing, his time spent working with Peter Falk, the experience of shooting Aliens and Whiplash and, of course, his new movie, The Problem With People, a charming Ireland-set comedy which he wrote and produced, as well as starring alongside Colm Meaney. It's a cracking interview, with Reiser on top form, and so we invite you to turn up your collar, relax and listen. Enjoy.
He's an Irish acting legend, so much so, he's been immortalised in a very Irish mural, but Colm Meaney hadn't seen his own Meanies Mural. Until now. Dave caught up with Colm, and Paul Reiser to chat about their new movie 'The Problem With People' to chat Paul's first GAA match, what really annoys them and of course...pickled onion corn snacks
When two distant cousins who have never met - one in New York, the other in Ireland - finally come together to put an end to a generations-long family feud, things don't go well. This is the premise of T'he Problem With People', the new film by Colm Meaney & Paul Reiser. They joins Anton to talk about the film and Colm's desire to be cast as a pirate at some point in the future.
Paul Reiser first came on my radar, as he did for many, with 1986's Aliens. We touch on that very briefly here, as we chat independent film, The Problem With People, a bit of Diner, and the challenges of getting films made. Plus! Colm Meaney going to the wrong bar, a date set for 19 years into the future, and a whole lot more... The Problem With People is in UK cinemas from 8th November. Learn more about your ad choices. A very extended episode of #BTLRadioShow this week thanks to my very special guest, journalist and entertainment reporter turned author SCOTT HUVER discussing his true crime book, BEVERLY HILLS NOIR: CRIME, SIN & SCANDAL IN 90210, plus my exclusive interview with PAUL REISER & COLM MEANEY talking about their new film THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE. First up, is my exclusive interview with PAUL REISER and COLM MEANEY talking about THE PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE. Needless to say, there are plenty of laughs in the film and in our interview. These two bring so much experience and talent to the table and listening to them feed off of one another is a pure laugh-filled delight. Then, my friend and colleague, entertainment reporter/columnist turned author, SCOTT HUVER, joins me at the 30-minute mark of the show to discuss his new true crime book, BEVERLY HILLS NOIR: CRIME, SIN & SCANDAL IN 90210. Spanning almost a century of some notable crimes on the mean streets of 90210, there is something for everyone in this book and Scott leaves no stone unturned when dishing the dirty details, some of which were inspired by stories he covered in his days on the crime beat for the "Beverly Hills Courier". With chapters devoted to the Greystone Mansion murder-suicide, the infamous jewel thief Gerry Dennis, that notorious love triangle involving classic film star Joan Bennett and Walter Wanger, the shocking Van Cleef & Arpels robbery turned hostage situation in 1986, a "barroom brawl" at the Polo Lounge with a few notable Rat Packers, and more, there is something for everyone and Scott and I cover it all during our interview. http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Today on the 5: Actor Colm Meaney recently commented that not every character needs to be return in modern Star Trek. Thinking back on how little I remember about Picard season 3, I have to agree and would much rather Paramount spend some cash on a proper remaster of Deep Space Nine!
Colm Meaney makes a vivid impression whenever he appears on stage, screen, or television. (His latest, Duchess, debuts on digital today, August 9.) More people probably know him from the two Star Trek series in which he appeared—The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine—but we remember him best as the father in The Commitments and its follow-ups The Van and The Snapper. Leonard and Jessie were pleased to find that he shares our fondness for that trilogy from Irish writer Roddy Doyle as well. But there's little he hasn't done, from John Huston's final film The Dead to Con Air and an episode of The Simpsons where he played (what else?) a quintessential Irish bartender. He spoke to us from his getaway home in Majorca, Spain!

Joe & Adam plunder through Matthew Vaughn's 2004 British gangster film Layer Cake, starring Daniel Craig, Sienna Miller, Michael Gambon and many, many more recognisable faces. Topics of conversation include: what even is a layer cake? Which version of Star Trek has Colm Meaney actually been in? Why is Sienna Miller so underrated? And why Adam thinks this isn't anything like a Guy Richie movie (and then later compares it loads to Guy Richie movies). Plus, bonus feeling uncomfortable in boundary-pushing clothes and embarrassing oneself while public speaking stories. We need your Movies You Forgot You Forgot! Please email us with suggestions and they will be added to our Big List! And in the Brad Pitt vs George Clooney vein, tell us who's worst films are worst, and who's best films are better. Somehow it happened. Somehow, there's a shark on a dang plane. There's no Sam Jackson to save us so we'll have to count on Colm Meaney to get us out of this one, even though there's No Way Up. (That's the title of the movie we cover in this episode. You get it.) And with this new shark movie we sample a new shark beer in Exile Brewing's Shark Wrangler. We also chat about Fallout, Blackberry, Abigail, and the general greatness of Jason Statham, because why not?
This week Andrew and Ben have a word inspired by our 2nd (insert air horn sound) review code (and for the PS5 no less)! As you know, the gentlemen are fond of complicated math, so prepare for that AND a long definition segment. Other topic diversions include: self help books, Ironwood Studios' first release “Pacific Drive,” beverages, Juice Newton, superhero movies, French food, Ben's review of Juicy Realm,” and 2VP merch ideas. 00:00:21 - Sausage, Tucson's Zine Festival, and Andrew gets help from Asplenia Studios! 00:02:40 - Ben's “almost first kiss,” 2VP merch possibilities, and help from Dr. Faith Harper 00:07:22 - Low budget time travel, a borscht-centric show, and Bethesda games on PS5 00:09:07 - Playing Pacific Drive, the joys of repair putty, and the “Herby-esque” station wagon 00:12:02 - Sort of a college word, and calculating the Magic 8-Ball equivocation percentage 00:17:20 - Magic 8-Ball facts, an obscure “The Three Stooges” episode, and cocktail concepts 00:19:05 - Brendan Fraser, the Orange Julius, in Swedish, and prune juice is helpful sometimes 00:23:10 - Juicing up, too soon, usage over time, cratered in the 1970's, and pulp preferences 00:26:19 - Meat juice, a favorite kindergarten food of Ben, AZ snails, and living in slug country 00:30:05 - A direct to bathtub situation, the Tim Burton Superman movie, and the multiverses 00:33:36 - Superhero popularity waning, favorite food truck movies, and Colm Meaney roles 00:37:27 - The Fall Guy theme, the Beetlejuice window, and one of Ben's favorite Judds 00:39:35 - The origin of a slogan, fruit chews facts, and coastal Oregon's saltwater taffy 00:43:25 - Andrew's Juice Newton memory, Deadpool movies, and the “Queen of Hearts” song 00:47:50 - The theory springs a leak, bringing the horns, and a new tagline for the show 00:49:56 - The story of Juicy Realm, movers and shooters, the gameplay loop, and avocados 00:52:30 - A comic strip style, PS5 is not required, powers and weapons, and saving seeds 00:55:15 - Taking chances with weapons, the four biomes, room types, and less than the cost 00:58:04 - Three ups, two payers, four sticks, no cups, three downs, and Ben recommends 01:01:21 - Fan art creations, a cup of coffee, “comfy” tracksuit merchandise, and final thoughts A BIG THANK YOU to PM Studios and Team Critical Hit for our PS5 review key for “Juicy Realm!” Ben's Review of Juicy Realm 3 UPs: - 2 player local Co-op - Amazingly goofy Sunday funny paper cartoon graphics with a wide variety of creative weapons - After clearing the game the first time, difficulty modifiers are added so you can accumulate more seeds when you clear a biome, but it is entirely optional. 3 DOWNs: - No Option for online co-op gameplay - Some minor UI anomalies do exist that make weapon modifier selection difficult at times - Not balanced as much as I would have hoped… there is one character selection that is clearly superior and a number of weapons that are the most effective DO BUY/PLAY… If you want a thrifty purchase with an arcade-like feel, but with the some of the variation, depth, and replay value of a rouge lite! Filmmaker Derek Purvis is the producer-director of the just released action pic “The Ballad of Davy Crockett.” In this episode, Purvis shares a little about the early inspiration that led him to a career in filmmaking along with a few stories that take listeners behind the scenes of his production. Filmed in Tennessee, “The Ballad of Davy Crockett” is an action-packed Western featuring William Moseley who is known for his portrayal of the fictional character Peter Pevensie in the “The Chronicles of Narnia” trilogy. Set in 1815, the film focuses on Crockett's fictional adventures while fighting his way through the wild frontier to save his children from the clutches of an evil land baron (Colm Meaney of Hell on Wheels). “We wanted to explore the larger-than-life mythology that enshrouds the Crockett name and use his ardent opposition to Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act as a throughline for what turned out to be a beautiful action-adventure tale,” said Purvis. This episode is sponsored by Leaders Credit Union. Leaders Credit Union is insured by NCUA.
