We focus on some of the stars of NextGen tennis - past, present and possibly future - all set for big things once the action gets back underway in August. The first of the grand slams we have to look forward to is the US Open and we feature a young Russian who made the quarter finals as a teenager at Flushing Meadows. Back from his recent injury problems, Andrey Rublev was on the tear with two titles already this year before the Coronavirus halted his progress to a career-high 14th in the FedEx ATP Rankings. With three titles last year and a semi-final at the first ATP Cup in Australia, we put 21-year-old Alex De Minaur under the spotlight. Like Alex De Minaur, Denis Shapovalov started the year at the ATP Cup in Australia, before moving onto Auckland, the Australian Open, Montpellier, Rotterdam and then his final tournament before the break, a quarter-final appearance in Marseille. Maybe the packed schedule is down to a new coach, known in his playing days as workhorse. We hear from both Shapovalov and Mikhail Youzhny. Jumping across to hear what social media show Tennis United has been up to, we bring you their chat with two-time Grand Slam Champion Naomi Osaka and the reigning Nitto ATP Finals champion, young Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. Finally, we take a detailed look at the stunning backhand of young Italian, Jannick Sinner, courtesy of Infosys and drop down to the Challenger Tour to find out a little bit more about hot prospects, Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild and Austrian, Jurij Rodionov.

Tshoelace Watch 2019 comes to an early end as Stefanos crumbles before the cold Russian hands of Andrey Rublev. With Courtney covering the end of the women's season in Zhuhai, Ben is joined once again in Washington with friend of the show Ricky Dimon to talk about all things men's tennis.  After a quick look back at the season as a whole, Ben and Ricky look ahead to London, which is coming down to a two-horse race between Kei Nishikori and John Isner. Which would make for a more intriguing participant? Then, we look at the players from last year in London who came nowhere near qualifying this year, most notably Grigor Dimitrov and Jack Sock. On Sock especially, how did he manage to plummet so badly this year? We then weigh in on the current debate over whether or not Pete Sampras was boring (or the boringest), and what makes a player boring. And then we discuss other superlatives by going over the ATP award nominees, and we imagine who would be on the ballot for antonymous awards (like least sportsmanlike). We then eulogize retiring players like David Ferrer and Mikhail Youzhny, and raise a #FreeDimonator rallying cry. As always, thanks for liking us on Facebook (leave comments on the episode thread!
