It's the Roland Garros 2025 2nd Round Show... In Thursday's action, Henrique Rocha and Alexander Bublik each pulled off upset wins from down 2-0, against Jakub Mensik and Alex De Minaur Respectively. This week Erik and Aidan have a bunch of topics to cover as Roland Garros kicks off. In a historic achievement last week, Novak Djokovic became only the third man to win 100 or more titles in his career, collecting his first championship of the season at the Geneva Open. Meanwhile, Richard Gasquet brings his illustrious career to a close this week at Roland Garros, marking the end for another player who was overshadowed by the big 3. Finally, a new challenger emerged in Hamburg as an underdog Italian proved his mettle.
What an emotional first day at Roland Garros as Rafael Nadal said goodbye to the tournament he won 14 times with the help of the Big Four, as Djokovic, Federer and Murray helped honour one of the greatest of all time and there were tears.Elsewhere at the French Open Iga Swiatek clapped back on media day and proclaimed 'I'm sorry you are not lifted' and tommy told Chris and Alina about his truck being repossessed but now it is back in safe hands where it belongs. Jannik Sinner gave an update on his relationship status and love of Copenhagen and Alex de Minaur proclaimed Katie Boulter to be the clay court specialist of the relationship.Don't miss the recap of Roland Garros first day from the duo in Paris as they give you the off court scoop you didn't know you needed to know! Andy and Jon also discuss the recent debate around body shots - do players have the right to be pissed or are they soft? Is Iga Swiatek still the Roland Garros favorite? Should top players compete the week before a Slam? What's your take on body shots in tennis—fair play or foul?
Here it is — the full 2025 Madrid Open Recap. Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim break down the latest Masters 1000 results as we turn our focus toward Rome and Roland Garros later this month. With her latest performance, did Aryna Sabalenka just cement her legacy in Madrid? Can Casper Ruud finally silence the critics after a career-defining title run? And why did Novak Djokovic suddenly withdraw from Rome? Jannik Sinner is back — but is he ready to make a deep run in Paris? Plus, who's joining the French Open broadcast squad… and which tennis legend just dropped a surprise announcement? We cover it all — from Sabalenka's dominance to the most unexpected lineup in Paris — along with what's next from the Served team, including daily Quick Serves and a brand new episode of Love All with Kim Clijsters and Hannah Berner.
Alexandra Stevenson and co-host Hugues Laverdiere in "Serving Aces" talk about Sinner returning after drug ban. Gauff wins and beats Swiatek. Jack Draper reached Madrid finals. Sabalenka wins third Madrid title. Djokovic pulls out of Rome. In Newsy notes, Alexandra looking for Met Gala - first Monday in May.
Tennis Channel broadcaster Steve Weissman joins the podcast to break down all the action from the Madrid Open, headlined by Coco Gauff's dominant win against defending champion Iga Swiatek. Weissman explains what this match means for Gauff, and how Swiatek can respond with Roland Garros less than a month away. The commentator also looks Aryna Sabalenka's quest for a first title in Paris, and how Mirra Andreeva has emerged as a big-time on player. Weissman also analyzes the game, which is more wide open than it has been in a very long time. He assesses Djokovic's form after another early loss at Madrid, and examines whether Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner should be viewed as prohibitive favorites at Roland Garros. And Weissman analyzes whether Casper Ruud, Lorenzo Musetti, Jack Draper or somebody else could emerge as real contender on the clay. Hosted by Mitch Michals.

In "Serving Aces" Alexandra and Ougi talk about Shadeur Sanders, the NFL Draft, Novak Djokovic, Madrid Open. Alexandra says if you are "Shadeured" it means you haven't been picked. Alexandra and Ougi compare Shadeur to an early Djokovic who wasn't liked in the locker room. His pr machine cleaned up his "villain" image through the last ten years - to his present likeable, respected status as a GOAT. Djokovic presented an arrogant way about himself in early 2010, much like a young Shadeur - preparing for the NFL draft, with his interviews and his combines.

A dramatic Monday in Madrid as a power outage across Spain and Portugal cancelled play for the day at the Madrid Open. Join Joel, Kim and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they look back on all the events of the first week where Novak Djokovic lost for the third time in a row leaving us to question (for the umpteenth time) whether he is a serious prospect for another Grand Slam title with the French Open looming. It was also a similar story for defending champion Andrey Rublev who left Madrid with a 1-4 Masters record this year, falling out of the Top 15 for the first time since 2020.It was not all doom and gloom though as Maria Sakkari returned to form of old with a demolition job over Jasmine Paolini whilst Coco Gauff put Sunshine Swing disappointment behind her to set up a tantalising quarterfinal against teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva. The Brits also enjoyed a solid first week with Draper, Fearnley, Norrie all into R3 and Katie Boulter winning her first clay match on the WTA Tour. Emma Raducanu also revealed there is an 'informal agreement' in place with Mark Petchey on her team. And though Carlos Alcaraz wasn't in Madrid due to injury, his new docuseries Carlos Alcaraz: My Way launched on Netflix with the gang discussing what they learned about Carlitos (other than his mum being a really good cook). Joel's Game also makes a return and we question what should be done about Electronic Line Calling in this week's Mailbag as Alexander Zverev follows Aryna Sabalenka and take a photo of a dubious mark on the tennis court during his match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.Roland-Garros Hospitality with Sports, Travel and Hospitality GroupTo guarantee the best seats in the house with ticket-inclusive official hospitality, visit https://bit.ly/4j6RYBzSOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.
