In this episode of Livabl Launch, host Matthew Slutsky sits down with Miles Nadal, Founder and Executive Chairman of Peerage Capital, for a wide-ranging and inspiring conversation about entrepreneurship, real estate, leadership, and legacy. From humble beginnings growing up in a small apartment in Toronto, to building a global network of luxury real estate firms — including Sotheby's International Realty Canada, Chestnut Park, and Baker Real Estate, Miles shares the philosophy that has guided him for more than four decades: invest with passion. They discuss the current state of Canada's pre-construction and resale markets, the value of long-term conviction during volatile cycles, and why true partnerships are built on curiosity, integrity, and trust. Miles opens up about his leadership evolution, the importance of empowering others, and his belief that humility and curiosity are the keys to sustained success. The conversation also delves into his philanthropic vision: from supporting institutions like the Miles Nadal Heart Centre and JCC, to launching Ourboro, a enterprise that helps Canadians without the “Bank of Mom and Dad” buy their first home. He also reveals his next big goal: establishing a tuition-free School of Entrepreneurship to help the next generation build and dream bigger. Rooted in passion, purpose, and generosity, this episode captures the mindset of an entrepreneur who never forgot where he came from, and continues to build for a better future. This episode offers a rare look into the mindset of one of Canada's most accomplished entrepreneurs, blending business insight with heart, purpose, and perspective.

One of the most common questions Dr. Kristina Spaulding hears is whether stress “stays in the system” for three days. In this episode, she digs into what that really means, what the research shows, and why the truth is more complex than a simple yes or no.She begins with the biology of the stress response—how the HPA axis and sympathetic nervous system work together, the roles of cortisol and corticosterone, and why not all stress is bad. Then she takes on the central question: how long does stress actually last? You'll learn how long it typically takes for stress hormones to peak and return to baseline, and the many factors that influence recovery, making exact estimates of the duration of the stress response extremely difficult.Dr. Spaulding also explores sensitization and cross-sensitization—how prior stress can make animals more reactive to future challenges, even entirely different ones. This has big implications for understanding anxiety, PTSD, and the impacts of stress on behavior. Finally, she discusses chronic and developmental stress and why a blunted stress response doesn't necessarily mean an animal is “fine.”The idea that stress lingers for three days is a myth. Hormones often normalize within hours, but the effects of stress—especially repeated or early-life stress—can last for days, weeks, or even a lifetime.Resources:Garcia, Arantxa, Octavi Marti, Astrid Valles, Silvina Dal-Zotto, and Antonio Armario. “Recovery of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal Response to Stress: Effect of Stress Intensity, Stress Duration and Prevention Stress Exposure.” Neuroendocrinology 72, no. 2 (August 2000): 114–25.Belda, X., Rotllant, D., Fuentes, S., Delgado, R., Nadal, R., & Armario, A. Carlos Alcaraz is once again on top of the tennis world after capturing his second US Open title in New York and reclaiming the world number one ranking from Jannik Sinner. In a trilogy final that was delayed by 50 minutes due to President Donald Trump's arrival at Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz produced a dominant display to defeat Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Aside from a brief wobble in the second set, the Spaniard was in command throughout, outhitting his rival by 42 winners to 21 and dropping just one set all tournament. The victory marks Alcaraz's sixth major title at only 22 years of age, putting him ahead of Federer, Djokovic and Nadal at the same stage of their careers. Sinner, meanwhile, struggled with his first serve and could not maintain consistency on what many considered his strongest surface.Join Joel and Chris at Tennis Weekly HQ as they unpack what this result means for both players and the broader Grand Slam picture in 2025. Was this a missed opportunity for Sinner? What was the difference for Alcaraz compared to Wimbledon? And yes, the Drake Curse reared its head again.

As well as raw talent and incredible athleticism, professional tennis ‘requires extraordinary psychological capacities', Edmund Gordon wrote recently in the LRB: ‘obsessive focus, epic self-belief'. Edmund – whose son is a rising star on the London under-nine circuit – joins Tom to discuss four recent books about the so-called golden generation of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic and Murray, what it took for them to get to the summit of the game, and what happens to players who never manage to break into the top hundred. They also talk about the more recent rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz, and why Djokovic thinks a slice of bread is like kryptonite.
