The boys are back to break down all things Indian Wells—the tournament that might just be the "Fifth Slam" (or not, depending on who you ask). Steve Johnson shares his struggles as a civilian trying to navigate the grounds, while Sam Querrey reveals his high school squad's sneaky ticketing tactics and Jack Sock reminisces about wild doubles rides with John Isner.Who's the man to beat this year? Alcaraz? Djokovic? Maybe Berrettini with his Hottie Bracket trophy and an Olive Garden gift card? The crew makes their predictions, picks their dark horses, and debate if winning Miami is actually better than winning Indian Wells. Plus, Sam and Steve are on the ground hunting for locker room gossip—so stay tuned! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Send us a textIn this episode Tyler and Jimmy discuss last week's PPA tournament, the Tucson Open, which was spicy and drama-filled to say the least. They touch upon Fed's losses now that he's team Adidas, Jack Sock & Jay Devilliers' nasty nelsons, and rank Christian Alshon as a top player. Tyler and Jimmy also debate on whether players should intentionally let their opponent continue playing if they know they are withdrawing. Tyler and Jimmy wrap it up by answering your questions. As a reminder, please join Tyler and Jimmy at the You Are Loved Event this February 15, 2025 to commemorate the lives of Landon and Tim. To register: https://clubpickleballusa.com/youarel... Erik also highlights his focus on intentional practice, juggling pickleball with a full-time job, and how his Charlotte pickleball crew, including pros like Jack Sock and Colin Schick, have helped him elevate his game. He emphasizes the importance of adaptability, partner communication, and having fun while playing, and shares insights into tournament preparation and strategies for continued improvement. Hur tas det emot i omklädningsrummet i New York? God lyssning. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

ParentingAces - The Junior Tennis and College Tennis Podcast
Welcome to Season 12 Episode 37 of the ParentingAces Podcast, a proud member of the Tennis Channel Podcast Network. This week, we check back in with SenseArena to see how this unique virtual reality product has morphed over the past several months. Topics of conversation for this episode include how SenseArena is being used at the college level, how junior players can leverage SenseArena to help them be ready to be recruited and play in college, and why the new ATP partnership is so significant to the growth of technology in our sport at all levels. Matthew Simons is the tennis business-to-business manager for SenseArena while also working as the head men's and women's tennis coach at the University of Puget Sound. He offers a unique perspective on how SenseArena can be used at both the junior and collegiate levels to help players work on the mental and physical sides of their game. You will hear Matt talk about how he's using it with his own players to help them prepare for practice sessions and competition. Yannick Yoshizawa and his team of developers created SenseArena, enlisting the expertise and guidance of coaches and professional players to ensure a positive and beneficial user experience. You will hear him talk about why this new partnership with the men's professional tour is a huge step in the technology revolution for tennis and what else is coming in the near future. Here is more information on the ATP partnership: Sense Arena, the world leader in cognitive VR tennis training and The ATP have announced a new multiyear partnership allowing Sense Arena to become the Official VR Tennis Training Tool of the ATP Tour and launching a co-branded platform, ATP Tour Sense Arena. The revamped ATP Tour Sense Arena platform will feature a new integration called Master Your Return, which will be powered by real match data and analytics from pro players on the ATP Tour and Hologic WTA Tour. This revolutionary feature will enable users to analyze and return true-to-life serves in VR from the top ATP and WTA players in the world. The new feature will complement Sense Arena's existing serve integrations from ATP pro Jack Sock, who had his serves replicated in Sense Arena earlier this year. Compatible with standard tennis equipment, Sense Arena allows players to get valuable off-court training in confined spaces and non-traditional environments such as basements, garages, hotel rooms and more. The innovative VR tech also allows players to train while limiting wear and tear on the body, which is especially important for players rehabbing injury. **DISCOUNT OFFER** Use code PARENTINGACES at checkout for a $50 discount on the annual SenseArena subscription. For more information, be sure to visit the Sense Arena website at https://tennis.sensearena.com/. Like many elements of the incredibly fast-growing sport of pickleball, the PPA Tour does not yet have a long history, having been founded in 2018. But its growth has also been very much on the upswing. Today the tour offers 24 events nationwide and a prize purse exceeding $5 million. Carvana is on as a title sponsor and interest on all levels in the tour continues to rise. Recent months have also seen the signing of a slate of professional players, many of who are former tennis stars like Sam Querry, Jack Sock and Genie Bouchard to name a few. The recently announced merger with Major League Pickleball, an entity that has taken more of a team approach, also promises to grow the pie. And the PPA Tour recently became the first league to allow gambling on matches, opening the sport to a new audience of potential bettors on the action. In this conversation, we chat with tour's president, Bryce Morgan, about where the tour has been, where it's headed and trends the PPA is watching by way of venue development, site selection, participation rates and more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Serving Aces brings Alexandra Stevenson and Hugues Laverdière back together after a Grand Slam summer hiatus. This episode discusses the University of Colorado and the football team. The Hollywood atmosphere surrounding the team has brought a world fascination to Coach Prime, Deion Sanders - and his team. Colorado is Alexandra's alma mater, so she was especially interested in the Colorado CSU game last Saturday. College football has never been so entertaining! Alexandra and Ougi discuss expectations for athletes, ATP, WTA stories, the Sabalenka racket smash - and the Halep four year drug ban. They also discuss coaching from the sidelines and how it has changed the game of tennis. And somehow Pickleball has become the fastest growing sport in America with Genie Bouchard and Jack Sock joining Pickleball teams. http://@alexandrastevenson

Marc has all the highlights from Day 4, including the last match of John Isner's career. He also talks to former player Leslie Allen about her career and what she's done off the court, and he chats with Leif Shiras who was on the call for the Isner match, and Prim Siripipat takes us down memory lane with This Moment in US Open History.
Ben and Tumaini reconvene on Day 2 of this US Open to talk about players retiring at this US Open, including Barbora Strycova (who you'll hear), CoCo Vandeweghe, and Jack Sock. But mostly, we talk about John Isner, the towering American who had an outsized impact on the sport while being popular among his peers but polarizing among fans. You'll hear from Andy Murray, Grigor Dimitrov, Eric Butorac, and John himself about what his legacy has been on the court, where he broke records and uniquely inspired rule changes. We discuss Isner's spectacular serve, the way it inspired awe in some and boredom in others, and also how he foregrounded a conversation about how fans choose whom to support based on public political opinions, and how tennis players think about each other's views.

Frances Tiafoe and Felix Auger-Aliassime picked up pivotal wins to secure the title for Team World for the first time in five attempts! The match everyone was anticipating was the Friday night doubles with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal taking on Tiafoe and Jack Sock. The Americans got the win for Team World and Tiafoe was subjected to racist abuse on social media afterwards which was completely out of line! On the Sunday, Auger-Aliassime dispatched the Novak Djokovic in straight sets to put Team World in a winning position and just one match victory away from winning the Laver Cup for the first time. Enter man of the moment, Big Foe who lost the first set to Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-1 but rallied back in now typical fashion, taking the second-set tiebreak and closed out the decider to secure the title and his second win over the Greek in a row (third overall). "Greek Yoghurt" controversy… people were losing it on social media and criticising Team World's behaviour during the Tiafoe-Tsitsipas match. Mic's picked up Tiafoe, surrounded by Americans on the bench, saying he wants “that Greek yoghurt”. Other bits… Davis Cup – Ymer brothers picked some good wins for Sweden – Mikael beat Italy's Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman of Argentina. Elias picked up an impressive win over Argentine Sebastian Baez. FAA also beat Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic to secure Canada's place in the Finals. Gabriel Diallo (confident his Dad is from Senegal or Guinea TBC), a 20-year-old Kentucky Wildcats senior, also made his debut for the Canadians. WTA – Naomi Osaka withdrew from her second round match in Tokyo due to illness. Not sure if she will play again this season. Don't forget to subscribe and share your comments.
This past weekend, Roger Federer played his final match as a professional tennis player, teaming up with his longtime rival Rafael Nadal in a mostly ceremonial doubles match at the Laver Cup. And, after the match (which they narrowly lost to Americans Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock), Federer was honored with a ceremony that brought him to tears. Now, with Federer's legendary career officially in the books, we're joined by Christopher Clarey of the New York Times to discuss how the Swiss icon became arguably the most beloved men's tennis player of all time, what comes next in his career, and how he'll be remembered in tennis history. In Tokio setzte Ludmilla Samsnova ihren Erfolgslauf fort. Lucy and Eugene are joined by friend of the pod Tumaini Carayol aka The Mentor. This episode is all about Wimbledon 2022! We celebrate girls' doubles champion Angella Okutoyi who put Kenyan tennis on the map after becoming the first Grand Slam winner from the country. We also talk about the women's and men's finals, paying particular attention to Tunisia's Ons Jabeur and what her run means to Africa and the Arab world. From a Black Spin Global perspective, icons Serena and Venus Williams both competed – Serena in singles and Venus in mixed doubles with Jamie Murray. Was nice to see Venus at the Centre Court centenary celebrations alongside all the legends but Serena's absence did not feel right. We discuss. We give props to the wildly underrated Heather Watson, our guy Frances Tiafoe and the ever impressive Coco Gauff. Watson broke new ground at a Grand Slam after reaching the last 16 – she was also the last Brit standing in the women's draw. Tiafoe, who was 0-2 on grass coming in, also put in a good showing and reached the fourth round for the first time. Gauff reached the third round in singles but went all the way to semi-finals in mixed doubles with Jack Sock. Don't forget to subscribe and share your comments!
