Caitlin Keogh (b. 1982 in Anchorage, Alaska) lives and works in New York. Her work has recently been included in group shows at Fondation Carmignac, Porquerolles, France, and The Church, Sag Harbor, NY. Keogh has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, MA; Melas Papadopoulos, Athens, Greece; and MoMA PS1, Long Island City, NY. Historian Sean Collins began a new series featuring local people from Louth and Meath who have made their mark historically on the national and international stage. Today Sean brought us the life and times of John J Breslin who was born in Drogheda in 1833 and laid to rest in Flushing Meadows cemetery in New York in 1887. At just 13 years old, Tracy Austin was already doing things most players twice her age could only dream about—right down to landing on the March 22, 1976 cover of Sports Illustrated with the headline “A Star is Born.” And they weren't kidding. With a calm, unshakable presence, she was already beating older, more experienced players with a sharp baseline game, all while still juggling school and family life—playing a semifinal in Rome one week and taking a social studies test the next. The wins came quickly. In 1979, she became the youngest player ever at 16 to win the US Open, defeating Chris Evert, and two years later she did it again, beating Martina Navratilova for her second title at Flushing Meadows. She also captured a mixed doubles championship at Wimbledon Championships with her brother John, and by 1980, Austin had risen to No. 1 in the world at just 17—the youngest ever to do it. But her story became just as much about resilience as dominance. Injuries, particularly a persistent back issue, began to slow her down, and a serious car accident in 1989 ultimately cut her career short. Still, her legacy was already secure—two-time major champion, world No. 1, and the youngest inductee into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1992. More than anything, Tracy Austin's grace through adversity became just as memorable as her brilliance on the court. She tells us what it was like to be on the cover of SI when she was barely a teenager. She recalls what it was like on the tour and reveals that not everyone was welcoming the 14-year old from Southern California. Tracy talks about going up against the all-time greats and how she went from opponents on the court to lifelong friends with Chrissy, Martina and Billie Jean. And she makes it clear that she wasn't pushed into a life of tennis by her parents, but rather, how they had to race to keep up with her as she chased and then knocked down her dreams of being a champion… and the best player in the world. Carlos Alcaraz is once again on top of the tennis world after capturing his second US Open title in New York and reclaiming the world number one ranking from Jannik Sinner. In a trilogy final that was delayed by 50 minutes due to President Donald Trump's arrival at Flushing Meadows, Alcaraz produced a dominant display to defeat Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. The US Open 2025 Women's final is set and it's a rematch of THAT Wimbledon semifinals that saw Amanda Anisimova upset the world number 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a fabulous contest. Anisimova will be hoping to replicate that victory when she faces off against Sabalenka on Saturday night but will the memory of the 6-0 6-0 Wimbledon final defeat be in the back of her mind going into another final. Anisimova stunned two time former champion Naomi Osaka in the semi-final in three tight sets and 3 hours to advance to her second consecutive grand slam final. Osaka at one point was just one game away from a 3rd final in New York before Anisimova bounced back to power to victory. For Sabalenka the test was arguably even tougher in a rematch of the US Open final last year, she went down a set and in the final set only won 4 points against the Pegula serve and they all happened to be in one game whilst Pegula didn't take her 4 break point chances to level the match.
