I am a Registered Nurse and Nurse Midwife with over 40 years of experience in health care settings. Early on in my career, I discovered a love for leadership, first of self and then others. As a teenage mother and wife, the odds were stacked against me. Armed with that knowledge and a spirit of determination, I moved forward one step at a time. I failed often but kept on growing. My journey as a NURSE in the healthcare arena has brought me to my current passion… educating and inspiring others to become the best version of themselves, physically and emotionally. My work has been focused on wellness, coaching, and leadership in traditional and nontraditional ( living room and kitchen) health care settings. My journey to becoming a whole and healthy person has been both difficult and extraordinary and I love to share it with others. As a mother of 5, a grandmother of 13, and a breast cancer Victor, I have learned the importance of a healthy family and its impact on the community and the world. Because of the many blessings that I have received, I AM COMMITTED to bringing a voice to the power that nutrition, exercise, and self-care can have to impact lives and create a grassroots movement of health and wellness for families.     In this episode, Karen and Rose discuss Rose’s 80x80 Movement - Milestones & Medals - Challenges for Life:  Was there something that happened to inspire you on this journey? After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Rose realized that you only have one life - and it’s up to you to live it right. Milestones and Medals along the way Moving your body is a happiness trigger. Moving your body every day is a very important risk reduction strategy to prevent cancer from occurring in the first place, and also to prevent it from coming back. What have been your greatest Movement Challenges? We have to take our minds to the gym, not just our bodies. The only one stopping you is you, so get your mind to work for you. Stop the stinking thinking and replace it with empowering thoughts.  What has been one of your most memorable Challenges? Small steps over time yield big results. Finding your identity is a process and requires taking small steps and moving forward. What inspiration do you have for those new to the 80 x 80 Movement? The trigger for action is going to come for a variety of reasons. This is personal to everyone.  What’s your next Challenge for Life?     "Selfcare is the new healthcare. You have to put yourself on your calendar first; put your non-negotiables there and make sure that you are getting what you need to show up in the world to be the best you can be.” - Rose Goodding Robinson     About the Podcast  Join host Karen Briscoe for 80x80 Movement Mondays each month to hear stories and inspirations for your 80x80 Movement journey! “Life is 10% what happens to you, & 90% how you respond to it.” Dan Grieb has applied this mindset to every aspect of his life – from fatherhood to business, health to wealth, and everything in between. It is with this guiding belief that Dan has achieved such great successes as becoming one of the top real estate agents in the United States, ranking in the top 1% of all Realtors in the U.S. Dan and his team continue to provide indispensable value to their clients. Dan Grieb: mentor, leader, business owner, Ironman, and most of all, devoted father and husband. He has been blessed with two amazing sons and a loving supportive wife who helped cofound their passion project: the One More Kid Charity. The charity steps in and saves Christmas for children and families who would otherwise fall through the cracks and be left without. They also work throughout the year to assist kids with school supplies and other needs, as well as in partnership with other charitable family organizations. Dan’s other family passion project is his health and fitness; Dan culminated this journey by accomplishing his ultimate physical goal as a triathlete: completing 10 half Ironman (70.3 mi) and 6 full Ironman (140.6 mi) races, as well as completing the Disney Marathon, Dopey Challenge, OUC Half Marathon, has done ocean marathons, and traveled the world racing and traveling. Through his experiences, he has come to believe that life imitates sports, and sports imitate life. The stronger you build your athletic constitution, the stronger the rest of your constitution grows. Dan is a certified leadership coach under John Maxwell. He is an Ironman certified coach, Certified Performance Coach, Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and a Nationally Recognized Expert in Real Estate. Dan's coaching style is known to be very intense but with a huge focus on building and developing relationships. One of Dan's life highlights has been leading Chris Nikic, the first person with down syndrome to complete an Ironman triathlon in under 17 hours. This journey has changed his life forever and taught him life lessons that he will carry with him and apply to his future coaching, professional and personal relationships. Dan has been featured on ESPN, Sports Illustrated, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News Tonight, Good Morning America, Fox News Sports, Barstools Sports, and many more, for his business and athletic accomplishments. Dan can be reached at 407-923-1122 or via email at Dan@hometosell.com. You can follow him on Instagram as well: @dgrieb     In this episode, Karen and Dan discuss Dan’s 80x80 Movement - Milestones & Medals - Challenges for Life:  Was there something that happened to inspire you on this journey? You can have it all. Dan joined a group that challenged him to be better and it encouraged him to also get his health into alignment with the rest of his life.  Milestones and Medals along the way Dan put his mind to it and lost the 110 pounds he wanted to and completed 10 Iron Man events in 2 years. He then realized he wanted to use his body to help someone else to be an Iron Man.  What has been your greatest Movement Challenges? The journey is in who you become, not the final challenge you complete. What you take away from every movement challenge is the greatest reward.  What has been one of your most memorable Challenges? Dan was able to complete an Iron man with Chris Nikic, believing in him even when nobody else (outside of his family) did.  What inspiration do you have for those new to the 80 x 80 Movement? We are all wounded at some level. We want others to see our wounds, meet us where we are and know we can accomplish anything no matter what those wounds are.  What’s your next Challenge for Life?     "Success is not about what you do, it is about who you become in the process."- Dan Grieb     Connect with Dan Grieb:   Instagram: instagram.com/dgrieb Twitter: twitter.com/dangrieb Facebook: facebook.com/daniel.grieb.501 Website: hometosell.com Email: Dan@HomeToSell.com LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/dan-grieb-4b401431     About the Podcast  Join host Karen Briscoe for 80x80 Movement Mondays each month to hear stories and inspirations for your 80x80 Movement journey! What has been one of your most memorable Challenges? It's just about how can you make a tiny improvement that, in the end, you will feel good about. It doesn't have to be a complete overhaul. I have been an athlete most of my life never really doing anything organized until later in life. I played tennis in high school and then on women and coed softball teams after graduating. In 1991 my real life as an athlete began when a friend talked me into taking some college classes. I took a class called "Physical Conditioning". We were required to be able to run a mile by the end of the 16 weeks and I was running 5 miles by the end. Overachiever, I guess they would say. I found that I really did like running. I continued running for many years but never raced until 2004 when a friend talked me into a 5k, then she talked me into a half marathon and then a marathon. I continued doing races occasionally after that but really in comparison to others, I didn't race that much. In 2012 my only child and son SPC Jason Edens was wounded in Afghanistan and passed away from those wounds on April 26th. My life was devastated and turned upside down. I didn't know what to do or where to turn but I knew that I had to find a positive focus and outlet for my grief instead of a destructive path as I have seen others go down. I decided to use running for that outlet. This gave me an opportunity to continue doing something that I love and also allows me to honor my son's memory. I added triathlon to my life in 2015 and completed my first Ironman in 2019. It's been almost 8 years since I lost Jason but his memory will live on in me and Team Jason as long as I still breathe.    In this episode, Karen and Janet discuss Janet’s 80x80 Movement - Milestones & Medals - Challenges for Life:    Was there something that happened to inspire you on this journey?   After losing her son, SPC Jason Edens, in 2012, she now uses triathlons and running as a platform to make others aware of her son’s sacrifice and as part of her grief process.   Milestones and Medals along the way   Team Jason has continued to grow from 5 members to as many as 40 members throughout the years since his passing in 2012.   What has been your greatest Movement Challenges?   Janet set her own personal best marathon at the age of 56.   What has been one of your most memorable Challenges?   The relationships along the way are built throughout the triathlons and other races – Janet uses those relationships and experiences to keep the memory of her son alive.   What inspiration do you have for those new to the 80 x 80 Movement?   Giving back to the community is a reason that Janet continues to pick races and decide what next activity she will do next.   What’s your next Challenge for Life?      "Just because you’re aging, doesn’t mean that you can’t be your best. Age is just a number."- Janet Crane    Connect with Janet Crane:    Military Loss Website: TAPS.org Ironman YouTube Video: 2019 IRONMAN Chattanooga Race Day TeamUSA Triathalon: Why She Tris: Gold Star Mother Honors her Late Son Through Triathalon       About the Podcast   Join host Karen Briscoe for 80x80 Movement Mondays each month to hear stories and inspirations for your 80x80 Movement journey! 1999 was a turning point for me. I was about to turn 50 and the world was about to undergo a millennium change.
