If you've built a life that looks great from the outside but still feels like something's missing on the inside, the problem might not be your relationship — it might be how much of yourself you're actually bringing to it. Whether it's a body image spiral that shuts you down in the bedroom, a long-term dynamic that's gone quietly cold, or a fear of vulnerability that's been running the show since day one, the shift almost always starts with one honest conversation. In this episode, volleyball legend, entrepreneur, and mother of three Gabby Reece gets real about what it actually takes to keep desire, respect, and intimacy alive after decades together — and why most of us are working harder than we need to. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why the masculine and feminine dynamic has been completely misunderstood — and how redefining it can transform your relationship and your sex life • What Gabby and Laird's 48-hour rule actually looks like in practice, and whether a structure like that could work for you • How to stop torturing yourself in the bedroom and finally get out of your head long enough to actually feel something • The real reason long-term relationships lose their spark — and the daily habits that keep attraction from quietly dying • How to talk to your kids about sex, body image, and peer pressure in a way that actually lands • Why vulnerability isn't a personality trait you either have or don't — it's a skill, and it's one you can learn This episode is sponsored by... 856. According to the internet, your morning brew might be hiding "mold toxins" that cause brain fog, fatigue, and digestive issues. But is mold-free coffee a bona fide health breakthrough, or just a clever marketing play? This week, Monica takes a closer look at the science of mycotoxins in coffee, specifically Ochratoxin A (OTA). We separate food safety facts from "wellness guru" fiction to find out if standard coffee beans are actually undermining your health. What Mycotoxins Are: Understanding the difference between visible mold and chemical compounds like Aflatoxin and Ochratoxin A. The Roasting Defense: Why the roasting process is your best protection against toxins and why "green coffee" products carry different risks. Hazard vs. Risk: A crucial distinction in food safety—is the presence of a toxin the same thing as a threat to your health? Practical Prevention: 4 simple steps to minimize exposure—from checking "roasted on" dates to proper home storage—without paying a premium for specialty brands. The Big Picture: How coffee compares to tea, herbal infusions, and cocoa when it comes to OTA levels. I am thrilled to reconnect with Dr. Izabella Wentz today. She is a pioneering clinical pharmacist and best-selling author, with a passion for identifying the root causes of complex health conditions. She has consulted on 1000s of difficult cases, and her upcoming book is called IBS: Finding and Treating the Root Cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In today's conversation, we explore relevant statistics, dietary triggers, and specific labs that can be helpful when navigating an IBS diagnosis. We highlight red flags, examine the impact of fiber, the intricate connection between short-chain fatty acids and thyroid health, and how stress, trauma, and the nervous system affect gut health. Dr. Wentz also offers some practical strategies and answers a series of rapid-fire questions. Dr. Wentz's latest book offers a fascinating exploration of IBS, guiding readers through diagnosis and treatment options, and empowering them to advocate for themselves. IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN: How IBS is often given as a diagnosis without any lab testing or further investigation Some of the lesser-known dietary IBS triggers, and how IBS-type symptoms can sometimes signal an entirely different underlying condition How digestive dysfunction can drive IBS symptoms Why fiber is essential, and how to increase your fiber intake slowly to avoid any digestive distress How stress can exacerbate IBS symptoms Constipation as a symptom of IBS Why most women tend to have a leaky gut Challenges of restrictive diets and the need for a balanced approach to gut health First steps to take when treating IBS Connect with Cynthia Thurlow Follow on X, Instagram & LinkedIn Check out Cynthia's website Submit your questions to support@cynthiathurlow.com. Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr. Georgia Ede, author of "Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind: A Powerful Plan to Improve Mood, Overcome Anxiety, and Protect Memory for a Lifetime of Optimal Mental Health."
Harvard-trained psychiatrist Dr. Georgia Ede is the author of "Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind: A Powerful Plan to Improve Mood, Overcome Anxiety, and Protect Memory for a Lifetime of Optimal Mental Health." She links diet to the mental health crisis and dementia risk. Ede explains that conventional psychiatric training ignored nutrition, and she later incorporated dietary strategies alongside medication and psychotherapy after personal health experiences. She emphasizes focusing on metabolic and nutritional quality—especially stabilizing blood sugar and insulin—rather than simplistic plant-vs-animal messaging. She argues some animal foods are needed for brain nutrients like B12 and EPA/DHA. She discusses ketogenic diets as a way to lower insulin, produce ketones, improve brain energy, and reduce inflammation, citing case reports and a study of hospitalized patients where many improved and 44% reached remission. She critiques nutrition epidemiology as unreliable and outlines three “quiet” dietary tiers: whole-food low-glycemic, ketogenic, and carnivore, plus practical issues like electrolytes and gradual transition.
Waiting until Monday can quietly damage confidence, follow through, and self trust. One rough meal, missed workout, or off day can turn into a lost weekend when recovery gets delayed. Faster resets and more honest next choices help stop that slide before it grows. A stronger approach keeps health goals active in real life instead of handing all your power to a future date. Dr. Bret Scher, medical director of the Coalition for Metabolic Health, discusses making metabolic health the foundation of medicine amid rising obesity and type 2 diabetes and reports that 93% of Americans have suboptimal metabolic health. Scher defines metabolic health using markers including glucose, insulin, triglycerides, HDL, blood pressure, and waist size, and cites evidence linking insulin resistance to heart disease, stroke, cancer, psychiatric illness, and other complications. They discuss simple self- and lab-assessments (waist-to-height ratio, fasting insulin with glucose/HOMA-IR, triglyceride-to-HDL ratio, CGMs). Scher critiques the Eat Lancet report for assuming one optimal diet, reliance on low-quality nutrition epidemiology, potential nutrient shortfalls, and environmental oversimplification, while supporting newer dietary guidelines that allow lower-carb approaches. Part two covers contradictory nutrition studies, distinctions between low-carb and ketogenic diets, emerging “metabolic psychiatry” and ketogenic therapy for mental illness and cognitive decline, limits and rebound risks of GLP-1 drugs, and Coalition efforts to improve school food and influence policy.

Private habits often shape health, confidence, and follow through more than public effort ever does. The quiet gaps between tasks, meals, work, and bedtime can either strengthen your standards or slowly weaken them. Using those hidden minutes with more intention helps daily life feel tighter, calmer, and more aligned with the person you want to become. Small private choices often set the tone for much bigger results. Understanding simple food sources and preparation methods can make increasing intake an easy and practical nutrition upgrade. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://www.idealnutrition.com.au/resistant-starch/ Quotes to ponder: "Resistant starch is a form of starch that is resistant to digestion. If you feel like you've tried everything for your hormones… and nothing seems to stick, this episode is for you. Supplements. Diet changes. Gut protocols. Hormone support. Stress management. You do the research, follow the plan, and maybe feel better for a little while. But eventually the symptoms come back. That's because most women are treating symptoms instead of identifying the underlying hormone pattern driving them. And until you identify that pattern, it's easy to keep chasing solutions that only work temporarily. In this episode, I explain why hormone protocols often stop working and how to start identifying the real patterns behind hormone imbalance. In This Episode • Why treating symptoms alone rarely fixes hormone issues • The difference between root cause and recurring hormone patterns • Why probiotics and gut supplements often miss the real issue • How constipation and gut dysfunction can recycle estrogen in the body • How cortisol, progesterone, estrogen, and gut health all interact • Why hormone programs that worked years ago may stop working now Many women assume they have estrogen dominance or a gut issue when the real driver may actually be stress hormones or cortisol dysfunction. And until that primary pattern is addressed, everything else becomes guesswork. Join the Hormone & Gut Pattern Identification Workshop If you want help identifying the actual hormone or gut pattern driving your symptoms, I'm hosting a live workshop where we break this down step-by-step. In this 90-minute workshop, you'll learn how to: • Identify your dominant hormone or gut pattern • Understand why previous protocols didn't work • Learn which system needs to be stabilized first • Know which labs actually confirm what's happening in your body • Stop stacking random supplements and guessing

Private choices shape confidence, health, and follow through far more than most people admit. Leading yourself well means reducing self negotiation, raising personal standards, and making choices that match the life you want even when nobody else sees them. Stronger self leadership builds more trust, steadier habits, and a deeper sense of alignment between what you say matters and how you actually live. If you are bloated, tired, wired, foggy, inflamed, waking at 3am, or still feeling "off" despite doing everything right, this episode is for you. In this episode, Dr. Connie Cheung breaks down the hidden suffering loop many high-functioning women live inside — a pattern where psychology, physiology, behavior, habits, and identity keep reinforcing instability even when nothing dramatic shows up on labs. This is not another generic gut health episode. This is not vague nervous system talk. This is a clinically grounded, emotionally honest explanation of why so many women stay stuck in cycles of symptom management, temporary relief, self-blame, and chronic compensation. You'll learn: ✔️ why high-functioning women often compensate instead of collapse ✔️ why normal labs do not always mean a regulated body ✔️ how psychology affects physiology ✔️ how behavior and daily habits reinforce nervous system patterns ✔️ why symptoms like bloating, poor sleep, tension, brain fog, fatigue, and weight changes are often connected ✔️ why treating symptoms separately wastes years ✔️ what it means to stop solving the wrong layer If you are sick and tired of the current state of your health and know something deeper has been missed, this episode will help your body finally make sense. Leyla Muedin, a registered dietician nutritionist, shifts the discussion beyond cholesterol and statins to “hidden” cardiovascular risks from insufficient vitamin K and folate intake. Citing Cleveland Clinic and other research, she notes a high prevalence of vitamin K deficiency in the U.S. and widespread inadequate folate intake globally, including low folate levels among women of reproductive age. She explains that vitamin K2 may help inhibit arterial and soft-tissue calcification via activation of matrix GLA protein, with studies linking higher K2 (MK-7) intake to lower coronary heart disease risk and slowed coronary artery calcification. Folate supports vascular function through homocysteine metabolism, with evidence associating higher folate intake with lower cardiovascular mortality, emphasizing active 5-MTHF over folic acid due to conversion limitations in many people. She also notes statins can downregulate vitamin K metabolism and encourages discussing risks, benefits, and supplements with a doctor.
Busy days can feel productive while still pulling life away from what matters most. Default living often shows up through reactivity, thin progress, loose boundaries, and energy that gets spent on everything except real priorities. Clearer awareness and a few deliberate design choices can help health, peace, and long term goals move back into daily life. That shift turns full days into meaningful ones. Old habits often stay in place because they still feel normal, even when they no longer fit the life you want. Raising your standards changes what feels acceptable in food, movement, self talk, and daily choices. A stronger inner standard helps better actions feel more natural instead of forced. That kind of internal shift can quietly change the direction of your whole life. Send a textIf you've ever felt like every system in your body has a problem — your digestion is off, your skin is reactive, your mood is unpredictable, you're exhausted but wired, and nothing you try seems to hold — this episode is for you. Most people are chasing ten different symptoms. What they actually have is one problem. A boundary problem. And that boundary is the gut barrier. This episode is the next installment in my Terrain Map series — a Rosetta Stone style body of work I've been building to help you understand what's actually happening ecologically inside your body. Each episode builds on the last. This one goes deeper into the living ecosystem that determines what your immune system reacts to, what your nervous system has to manage, and why when that boundary breaks down, the body stops feeling like a safe place to live in.I cover:What the gut barrier actually is — not just a lining, but a living ecosystem of mucus layers, epithelial cells, tight junction proteins, and microbial communities that together determine what stays out and what gets inWhat breaks it down — and why the answer is almost always a combination of things that match the life that's been livedWhat a compromised barrier actually feels like beyond digestive symptoms — including the signs most people never connect to their gutThe mineral catch-22 — why you need specific minerals to rebuild the barrier but a compromised barrier means you can't absorb them properly, and why this loop keeps people supplementing forever without resultsWhat restoration actually requires — sequenced, terrain-first, in the right order at the right paceI also reference two previous episodes that go deeper into the generational piece — how what your mother carried in her microbiome shaped your starting point before you had any say in it:How Maternal Microbiomes Shape Immune Health: lydiajoy.mykajabi.com/blog/how-maternal-microbiomes-charge-immune-healthHealing Burnout: How Mothers and Environment Shape Our Health: lydiajoy.mykajabi.com/blog/Healing-Burnout-How-Mothers-and-Environment-Shape-Our-HealthIf you've been in this space for a while doing the right things and still not getting to the bottom of it — this is the conversation you've been missing.Support the show Support the podcast Mineral Foundations Course HERE Minerals & Microbes package HERE Rewilded Wellness program HERE Join my newsletter HERE If you are interested in becoming a client and have questions, reach out by emailing me: lydiajoyme@gmail.com Find me on Instagram : @ Lydiajoy.me

Host Sarah Kleiner welcomes practitioner Grant Fowler to discuss navigating confusing and polarizing health information, emphasizing clinician-to-clinician “what works” insights alongside research. They argue health interventions have second- and third-order effects, using gut microbiome health as an example for improving responses to therapies such as cancer immunotherapy, and caution against “one thing fixes all” thinking across wellness, medicine, and spiritual frameworks. Fowler describes his non-linear path into health, his trial-and-error approach to addressing connective-tissue-related issues, and the importance of stacking lifestyle foundations (light, food, environment) to reduce system load so therapies can work. They critique strict evidence hierarchies, note “real world evidence,” and outline a symptom-guided approach to gut issues, highlighting specific probiotics (including spore-based strains and BB-536), lactoferrin, targeted fibers, dosing/timing considerations, and the gut's role in nutrient absorption and filtering toxins.Connect withj Grant - https://www.instagram.com/fowler_fitness_spt/ _________Sponsored By:→ Bon Charge | Go to https://boncharge.com/products/demi-red-light-device?rfsn=8108115.26608d & use code SARAHKLEINER for 15% off storewide.→ VivaRays | This episode is sponsored by VivaRays - VivaRays Blue - code YOGI https://vivarays.com/→ Troscriptions | For an exclusive offer, go to https://www.troscriptions.com/SARAHK for 10% off your first non subscription order._________Timestamp:00:00 First Order vs Systems01:02 Why Clinicians Matter02:19 Podcast Intro and Disclaimers03:32 Grant's Health Origin Story08:13 Genetics Epigenetics and EDS12:53 Peptides and Bio Regulators15:13 Real World Evidence Debate22:30 Insurance and Chronic Illness27:31 Integrative Medicine Middle Path30:40 Continuum of Therapies35:38 Modern Life Balance and Microbes42:16 Online Health Info Spirals43:16 Spiritual Bypassing Trap45:13 Bad Logic in Wellness46:45 Sunlight Protocol Reality Check48:32 Stockdale Paradox Mindset51:26 Synergy Over Monotherapy55:58 Fixing the Gut Basics56:23 Microbiome Testing Limits59:14 Targeted Gut Supplements01:01:51 Spore Probiotics Strategy01:13:43 Timing and Megadosing01:18:42 Where to Follow Grant01:22:12 Closing Thoughts——— This video is not medical advice & as a supporter to you and your health journey - I encourage you to monitor your labs and work with a professional!________________________________________Get all my free guides and product recommendations to get started on your journey!https://www.sarahkleinerwellness.com/all-free-resourcesCheck out all my courses to understand how to improve your mitochondrial health & experience long lasting health! Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Hal Cranmer, co-owner of A Paradise for Parents assisted living homes in Arizona.
Hal Cranmer, co-owner of A Paradise for Parents assisted living homes in Arizona, details improving senior care beyond “warehousing.” Cranmer describes his path from Air Force pilot to assisted living operator and explains changes he implemented over 12 years, emphasizing meaningful exercise (walks, strength training, yoga, multitasking drills) and an “exercise with oxygen therapy” bike. He highlights excessive polypharmacy in seniors and advocates deprescribing, supplement and hormone support when medically ordered, and avoiding sedating drugs used as chemical restraints. Cranmer details a low-glycemic, low-carbohydrate, ketosis-oriented nutrition approach inspired by Dr. Dale Bredesen, reporting significant weight loss and diabetes medication reduction in residents. He discusses COVID practices that preserved family contact and outdoor time, reporting no COVID deaths in his homes, and describes cognitive training via one-on-one Zoom-based brain exercises and personalized memory games.
Life can stay stuck when old identity patterns keep pulling choices back to what feels familiar. A stronger self-image changes what feels normal in food, movement, boundaries, and recovery. Honest awareness, better internal language, and repeated proof help daily actions line up with the person you want to become. That deeper shift often creates results that surface-level habit changes never hold for long. Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, integrative medicine physician, researcher, and best-selling author.
Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, integrative medicine physician, researcher, and best-selling author, has cutting edge strategies for improving sleep. He emphasizes circadian rhythms, time changes, and jet lag. He details reducing stress and “FOMO” from news and social media, prioritizing sleep by cutting nonessential activities, and the health risks of short sleep, including increased heart attack risk, obesity risk, and impaired immunity, plus the role of deep sleep and the glymphatic system. Teitelbaum recommends a dark, cool room, limiting blue light (eye masks, warm/yellow lighting), bedtime routines, sustained-release melatonin, chamomile tea, herbal blends, lavender, magnesium, and addressing issues like sleep apnea (including positional strategies), restless legs (ferritin testing, iron, magnesium), nocturnal hypoglycemia (protein snacks, phosphatidylserine), reflux (bicarbonate, bed elevation), and selective low-dose medications when needed. They also cover daylight saving time adjustment and travel strategies such as shifting schedules, melatonin timing, hydration, and morning light exposure.
Many high-performing women feel like they should have food, weight, and health figured out by now.You track. You follow the rules. You try to eat “clean.” Or maybe you quietly eat less and less because it feels safer that way.But despite doing everything right… your weight won't shift, your energy feels off, and food still takes up too much space in your mind.In this episode of Body Led by Design, Melissa breaks down two of the most common eating archetypes she sees in driven, high-responsibility women:The Perfection-Driven ControllerThe Chronic RestrictorThese patterns often look different on the surface but share the same root: the belief that your body can't be trusted. You'll learn why these patterns develop, how diet culture and stress shape your relationship with food, and what it actually takes to rebuild trust with your body again. This episode is part of Melissa's Eating Archetypes series, designed to help you recognize your patterns with curiosity instead of judgment—and begin shifting them in a sustainable way.In This Episode You'll LearnThe difference between the Perfection-Driven Controller and the Chronic RestrictorWhy control around food often comes from fear, not disciplineHow diet culture teaches women to outsource their body's wisdomWhy intuitive eating doesn't mean “eating whatever you feel like”The physiological effects of chronic restriction on metabolism and hormonesWhy hunger cues disappear when they've been ignored for yearsHow stress and nervous system dysregulation influence eating patternsA practical tool you can use today to begin rebuilding body awarenessFree Resource: Start Rebuilding Body TrustIf today's episode resonated, Melissa created a guide to help you understand why weight loss often stalls—even when you're doing everything “right.”Download the free guide:The Real Reason Your Weight Isn't Shifting
In this episode, I want to invite you to start viewing your internal health through the same lens as you view your external health. Nothing is one and done. You're never done. The goal is not to be done. The goal is learning what your baseline is, what it feels like to actually live in balance, because most people have no concept of what their actual baseline is when their body is in balance. And from there, it's learning how to listen to your body and do what you need to maintain your balance. Something I wish everybody understood is that our microbiome is always fluctuating. It's influenced by the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the chemicals that are sprayed on our food, the chemicals sprayed in the air. It's influenced by exposure to bacteria and pathogens, viruses, yeast, mold, and parasites. The health or unhealth of our relationships. It's influenced by how we experience stress and how much stress we experience. Our microbiome is very dynamic and it's always responding to so many different variables in our life.I invite you to rebalance and learn your baseline, experience balance, and then get curious. Pay attention to what fluctuations feel like for you, what they look like for your child, and stop chasing this illusion that our internal health is a one and done thing.I invite you to start living in relationship with your body instead of fighting your body. I invite you to start listening, listening to those, maybe they're quiet symptoms. Start listening with curiosity and without judgment.Let yourself dream. Let yourself know what it's supposed to feel like. Thanks for listening!
