Speaker: Rob BerrethScripture: Matthew 5:10–16Episode Overview:In Gospel of Matthew 5:10–16, Jesus names His people “the salt of the earth” and “the light of the world.” These words are not flattery—they are a calling. This message explores what it means to live with confidence in Christ's transforming power, to seek the good of our cities, and to endure opposition without losing heart. Drawing from Book of Jeremiah 29 and the wider teaching of the Sermon on the Mount, we are reminded that God's people are both exiles and ambassadors—deeply rooted in their communities while distinctly shaped by the kingdom of heaven. Even when faithfulness brings misunderstanding or harassment, Jesus promises a reward that far outweighs the cost. The church's greatest gift to the world is not cultural dominance, but Christ Himself.Key Highlights:• Salt and Light Defined – What Jesus means when He calls His followers to preserve, illuminate, and influence for good.• Engagement Without Assimilation – Learning from Book of Jeremiah 29 how to seek the welfare of the city while remaining distinct.• Confidence in the Good News – Why believers need not live in embarrassment, but in steady trust that Christ truly is good for the world.• Understanding Persecution – A biblical perspective on being reviled or harassed for righteousness' sake (Matthew 5:10–12).• Wounds as Medals of Honor – How opposition for Jesus' sake becomes evidence of faithful allegiance.• The Ultimate Hope – Christ builds His church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).Call to Action:This week, identify one place God has planted you—your workplace, neighborhood, classroom, or home—and intentionally seek its good. Pray for the people there by name. Look for one tangible way to serve without compromise. Speak of Christ with humility and courage when the opportunity comes. And if faithfulness costs you something, receive it as a mark of belonging to Him. Shine steadily, trusting that God uses even quiet obedience to bring glory to the Father.

Grab your tissues and your skates—this week, we're oscillating between "crying in the club" and "main character energy." From a tiny monkey seeking maternal warmth in a plush toy to an Olympic icon reclaiming her narrative, we are dissecting the high highs and the messy lows of the zeitgeist. In This Episode: • The Gospel of Pan-kun (Punch): We're breaking down the story of the Japanese baby monkey rejected by his mother who found solace in an IKEA stuffed orangutan. Why did this hit us all so hard? We discuss the social commentary on loneliness, our collective "inner child" triggers, and why we're all just looking for our own version of a plushie to hold onto. • Alysa Liu's Rebirth: At 20, Alysa Liu is doing the unthinkable: actually enjoying her life. We dive into her journey from early burnout and retirement to her defiant comeback. She's eating the food, picking the music, and wearing the fits she wants. We crown her the world's first IDGAF Olympic Champion and talk about why her "agency" is the most radical thing in sports right now. • The Tyra Effect: The new docuseries on America's Next Top Model is here, and the internet is in a tailspin. We break down the most unhinged Tyra Banks memes, the questionable "smize" ethics of the mid-2000s, and whether the show was a fashion boot camp or just beautiful chaos. Trump's State of the Union address had everything — if by “everything,” you mean easily fact-checkable lies. We also got fearmongering and racism about Somali immigrants… Trump's frequently used claim that Democrats can only win elections if they cheat… and a lot of awards for members of the armed services. But his overall message was the same we get every single day on Truth Social in between rants about cable television hosts and misused punctuation: we are the hottest country in the world and everything is awesome and great. So to talk more about the longest State of the Union speech in history, we spoke with two people who were covering it from D.C.: Crooked News Editor Greg Walters and What A Day Newsletter writer Matt Berg.Show Notes: Call Congress – 202-224-3121 Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/y4y2e9jy What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcast Follow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/ For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday
Story 1: President Donald Trump delivered a historically long State of the Union Address last night, but not everyone is happy about it. Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) helps Will unpack President Trump's speech, reflecting on the current state of our nation's political landscape, and the Democratic Party's hesitancy to support bipartisan issues such as the SAVE Act.Story 2: Will and The Crew share their ideas for a revolutionary new Congressional dress code while reacting to President Trump's bestowal of two Medals of Honor and one Presidential Medal of Freedom during his State of the Union address.Story 3: The censorship of the Internet by "Big Tech" companies has been an open secret for years, but a lack of competition has made the idea of circumventing it laughable. Things may be beginning to change. Co-Owner of the Chicago Cubs and Founder of Freespoke, Todd Ricketts joins Will to discuss his effort to build a censorship free search engine, sharing what inspired him to do so, and what his main issues are with current market leaders like Google. Plus, Todd reflects on his invitation to visit the White House after the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.Subscribe to ‘Will Cain Country' on YouTube here: Watch Will Cain Country!Follow ‘Will Cain Country' on X (@willcainshow), Instagram (@willcainshow), TikTok (@willcainshow), and Facebook (@willcainnews)Follow Will on X: @WillCain Learn more about your ad choices. Team USA's gold medal hockey champs are heading to the White House—and yes, they'll be with President DT at the SOTU. Big American energy. But while the champs are celebrating, Texas politics is heating up. Is there real infighting in the Senate race… or just campaign-season drama? Joe Pags digs in. Then things turn serious. Americans being told to shelter in place in Mexico. Cartels battling in broad daylight. Iran making moves. Ukraine warning of global escalation. Are these isolated headlines—or pieces of a much bigger puzzle? Lt. Col. Jeffrey Addicott joins Joe Pags and doesn't sugarcoat it. Is this a cartel turf war or something more organized? Are cartels operating inside the U.S.? Could Americans be targeted? Would POTUS use drone strikes if it came to that? And are we anywhere near a multi-country conflict involving Iran? From gold medals to global flashpoints—this hour moves fast and hits hard. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

When Team USA wins gold at the Olympic Games, the players stand on the podium… but the coach who built the system walks away empty-handed. We argue they don't need multiple medals in sports like gymnastics, where one athlete racks up several, but at least give them one medal or the highest medal their team earns. We also break down how Netflix's biggest movie ever, K-Pop Demon Hunters, reportedly hit a 110% watch-through rate compared to subscribers. The film clearly exploded with kids, the songs went viral, and repeat views pushed it into streaming history. And finally, the wild story of how Toy Story was almost canceled because Woody was originally written as mean. Pixar Animation Studios had to beg Walt Disney Company to let them rewrite the script, and that decision turned it into one of the biggest franchises of all time.Check out our YouTube page - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoqz3s_B_VYHuQtuVIDxpiQTikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@therealoshow?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pcTweet @zacharyowings2 with your thoughts about the podcast or suggestions for future shows.Music by Leno Tk - Greatness (Streaming on all platforms)

On this week's episode of Little Column A, Little Column B, hosts Will Alimonos and Zach Bishop break down a packed slate of Winter Olympic drama, March Madness momentum, and headline-grabbing NBA debates. The show opens with a rousing recap of U.S. men's and women's hockey victories over Canada — tense third periods, electric three-on-three overtime, clutch goaltending, and emotional medal ceremonies (including a powerful jersey tribute). Will and Zach debate the awkwardness of silver vs. bronze presentations, stuffed-animal podium mascots, and why hockey delivered their favorite Olympic moments. From there, the guys zoom out to discuss evolving winter sports formats, hybrid ski events, and why the Olympics somehow feel both overwhelming and too short at the same time. March Madness talk takes center stage next, with Duke reclaiming the No. 1 ranking after a major neutral-site win over Michigan. The hosts break down Cam Boozer's rising stock, Houston's title case, Arizona's résumé, Kentucky's frustrations, Illinois' late-game issues, and the broader seeding and bubble picture as the bracket tightens. On the NBA side, the conversation shifts to tanking reform and whether lottery tweaks or fines can truly stop strategic losing. They also react to Boston's dominant win over the Lakers, encouraging Jason Tatum practice buzz, and national sports media shifts — including ESPN's Women's Sports Sunday rollout. As always, expect sharp takes, humor, game analysis, and a preview of what to watch this week — plus a reminder to get ready for the show's March Madness pool. ⏱ Episode Timecodes 00:00:34 – Weekend Sports Triumph USA hockey wins, Olympic intensity, medal ceremony emotions 00:09:22 – Olympic Highlights and Emotions Silver vs. bronze debate, tributes, podium quirks 00:10:22 – The Evolution of Olympic Sports Hybrid ski events, niche sports learning curves 00:13:31 – March Madness Approaches Bracket outlook, storylines heating up 00:14:44 – Duke's Rise to Number One Neutral-site win over Michigan, Cam Boozer's stock 00:16:32 – Closing Out Close Games Kentucky, Illinois, and late-game frustrations 00:25:12 – Houston's Title Contention Résumé breakdown and Final Four potential 00:29:51 – College Basketball Upsets Wild finishes and shifting seeds 00:31:30 – The Peterson Controversy Ongoing questions and impact on rankings 00:52:36 – NBA Tanking Solutions Draft odds, lottery reform, structural fixes 01:02:31 – Celtics' Dominance Over Lakers Boston's road win, Tatum buzz, statement performance 01:17:30 – Women's Sports Sunday on ESPN Media strategy, scheduling frustrations, broadcast presentation

In this episode, Ryan Gable break down the claim that the 2026 Olympic Gold Medal hockey game between the U.S. and Canada was rigged for a Jack Hughes overtime goal. From Hughes' physical "sacrifice" of his teeth to his ties to the New Jersey Devils (a team named after a cryptid), we examine why some are branding the victory "Disney on Ice."We also look at the the closing ceremony of the Olympics which received no critical analysis over its two-hour airtime, which when combined with the opening produces over five hours of content—from this came a single image of a red knot and star that people called satanic or Baal. We connect these dots to a larger trend of "lazy" conspiracy theories that ignore the documented history of gambling and point-shaving in favor of mystical rituals. Roman Poet Juvenal famously wrote about panem et circenses, or bread and circuses. What most assume is a method of state-control was actually a demand of the public, Juvenal's fellow citizens. Conspiracy theories have become lazy, and many could probably do with bread and pageantry; instead, they choose to live parallel to reality into an echo-chamber that only gives them the authority of a blind and selective all-seeing eye. In this episode, we also dissect:The NHL & The Devil: How Jack Hughes' overtime winner for Team USA is being linked to his "mythical" NHL team and his kosher roots as part of a "grand distraction."The Kash Patel Connection: Analyzing the "uncomfortable" viral video of the former official drinking beer and celebrating with the team. The Magic Number 33: Why the U.S. finishing with exactly 33 medals overall has sent the "selective all-seeing eye" into a frenzy.NBA & NFL Scripts: Why the "NBA uses magnets" theory (born from old TV commercials) and the "NFL is scripted" marketing campaigns have made fans stop believing in reality.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Today, Les, Jamil, Jess, and Morgan unpack the geopolitical undercurrents of the Winter Olympics. The spotlight has fallen on athletes like Alysa Liu, competing for the United States, and Eileen Gu, who chose to represent China after reportedly receiving a lucrative offer from Beijing. Meanwhile, the U.S. men's hockey team's victory over favored Canada, America's medal race with Norway, and even off-ice political theatrics have fueled debate about nationalism, identity, and how leaders frame athletic dominance.Do medal counts and hockey championships shape national narratives in ways that affect how countries see themselves and each other? Do the Winter Olympics play into Trump's view of the world? In an era where global competition extends from military power to medal counts, how much geopolitical weight should we really assign to the Games?Check out the answers to these questions and more in this episode of Fault Lines.@lestermunson@jamil_n_jaffer@NotTVJessJones@morganlroachLike what we're doing here? Alysa Liu has been considered a figure skating prodigy ever since she was a kid. When she was just 12 years old, she was the youngest U.S. woman to land a triple axel in a competition. Then at 13, she became the country's youngest World Champion ever. But in 2022, right as Alysa was at the height of her career, she quit the sport altogether and retired at 16. She didn't set foot in a rink for nearly two years, until a family ski trip reminded her just how much she loved the sport. Now she's competing in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy — and she's looking like one of the favorites to win gold. If she medals at all, she'd be the first U.S. woman to do it in 20 years. In this episode, we hear from Alysa on what it's like to be a child athlete competing at an elite level, what brought her back to the rink, and how she's taking ownership of her career. We also discuss Alysa's chances and her competition with senior correspondent at The Athletic Marcus Thompson, who's covering women's figure skating at the Olympics.Show Notes Alysa Liu 2025 World Championships | Skating ISU Alysa Liu left figure skating behind.
