En la actualidad, el automóvil parece tener fecha de caducidad: baterías que pierden capacidad, sistemas de AdBlue que se bloquean y electrónica diseñada para durar lo justo. Sin embargo, existió una "Edad del Hierro" —entre mediados de los 80 y principios de los 2000— donde el objetivo de la ingeniería era la durabilidad extrema. Estos son los 10 motores diésel que, con un mantenimiento básico, pueden sobrevivir a varios dueños. ¿Por qué ya no se fabrican así? La clave está en el estrés mecánico. Antiguamente, un bloque de 2.5 litros entregaba unos conservadores 90 CV. Hoy, motores de 1.5 litros deben entregar 150 CV para cumplir con las normativas, lo que triplica el esfuerzo térmico de los materiales. Además, se ha sustituido la robusta fundición de hierro por aleaciones de aluminio para ahorrar peso, sacrificando la estabilidad térmica a largo plazo. Listado de los 10 motores "Inmortales": Mercedes-Benz OM602 (1984-2002): El cinco cilindros atmosférico que convirtió al W124 en leyenda. Su bomba inyectora mecánica Bosch, lubricada por el propio aceite del motor, lo hace inmune a fallos electrónicos. Nissan TD27 (1985-2007): Famoso por equipar al Terrano II. Su gran hito técnico es la distribución por cascada de piñones; no hay correas ni cadenas que cambiar, lo que elimina el mantenimiento crítico. Volkswagen 1.9 TDI (AFN/AVG) (1991-2010): El motor que redefinió el diésel. Con inyección directa y bloque de fundición, demostró en el sector del taxi que superar el millón de kilómetros era una meta alcanzable. Fiat 1.9 JTD (8 válvulas) (1997-2012): El pionero del Common Rail. Su culata de 8 válvulas es térmicamente más estable que las versiones modernas, ofreciendo una fiabilidad que le permitió sobrevivir en marcas como Opel, Saab o Alfa Romeo. Toyota 1HD-FTE (1998-2007): Un bloque de seis cilindros y 4.2 litros con componentes sobredimensionados. Es una mecánica de camión adaptada al Land Cruiser, capaz de entregar un par motor inmenso con un desgaste mínimo. PSA 2.0 HDi (DW10) (1998-2015): La cima de Peugeot y Citroën antes de la complejidad de los sistemas anticontaminación modernos. Un motor de gestión conservadora, famoso por su suavidad y su bajísimo consumo. BMW M57 (1998-2013): Un seis cilindros en línea que combinó rendimiento deportivo con longevidad. Salvo por el mantenimiento preventivo de las mariposas de admisión, es un motor capaz de devorar la Autobahn durante décadas. Volvo D5 2.4 (2001-2015): De diseño 100% sueco, este cinco cilindros destaca por su robustez ante climas extremos y una arquitectura diseñada para aguantar altas presiones sin fatiga. Honda 2.2 i-CTDI (2003-2009): Un prodigio de refinamiento japonés. Sin correas y fabricado con aluminio de alta presión, demostró que un diésel podía ser tan silencioso y equilibrado como un motor de gasolina. Mercedes-Benz OM642 V6 (2005-2021): El último gran V6 de la marca. Un motor diseñado para el confort de marcha y los trayectos infinitos, capaz de superar los 800.000 kilómetros manteniendo un estándar de lujo. Consejos para mantener un diésel eterno Para que estos motores alcancen su máximo potencial, es vital vigilar la acumulación de carbonilla mediante trayectos largos por carretera, no escatimar en la calidad del aceite y revisar el estado de los manguitos de caucho, que son los únicos componentes que envejecen antes que el metal del bloque. Conclusión Apostar por estas mecánicas es, en definitiva, una apuesta por la ingeniería que respetaba al propietario y se rebelaba contra la obsolescencia programada.

Ir en el asiento del copiloto es mucho más cómodo que ir conduciendo. La parte mala de esto, es que el que controla el volante es el conductor, no el acompañante y será el conductor el que decida donde va el coche y por tanto donde vas tú. Y con la alimentación ocurre lo mismo. Es una utopía pensar en mejorar tu alimentación o incluso perder peso si no estás al mando de tu alimentación. Porque si eres de los que llega a su casa, se sienta en la mesa y le ponen un plato de comida delante, siento decirte que eres un pasajero de tu alimentación y que aunque sea muy cómodo ir a mesa puesta, es imposible que soluciones tu sobrepeso o tus problemas con tu alimentación cuando no eres tú quien controla tu alimentación. Así que mi consejo número 1 por supuesto es que si quieres mejorar tu forma física tienes que poder controlar tu alimentación y si no puedes o no quieres hacerlo, te va a costar mucho más trabajo. Punto. Esto no es discutible. Y si quieres bajar de peso comiendo los canelones de la mama y el cocido y la paellita de los domingos, pues no vas a poder. Salvo que tengas un sistema de control. Porque es posible que si vas a comer a casa de tus padres, que es algo bastante habitual, los abuelos recogen al niño del colegio y los padres cuando salen de trabajar se van a comer donde los abuelos y comen lo que la abuela pone en el plato. Quizás en esta circunstancia, tú no puedas escoger qué es lo que toca comer hoy, porque lo decide tu madre o tu suegra (aunque siempre tienes opción de hacerte tu comida que es lo ideal), pero si no quieres hacerlo porque eres un blando y un incoherente porque quieres perder peso pero al mismo tiempo te quieres comer los canelones de tu madre, hay otra opción que es controlar el cuánto. Es decir, si no puedes escoger el qué, sí que puedes controlar el cuánto comes. Sistema de Porciones Yo desarrollé un sistema que llamé sistema de porciones, que lo he usado con muchos clientes y aunque no es perfecto, es incluso mucho más deficiente que el planificador nutricional y usar este planificador siempre va a ser mejor, hay mucha gente que prefiere el sistema de porciones porque aunque sea menos preciso, es más simple. ¿Y qué es el sistema de porciones? Básicamente es hacer porciones equivalentes de diferentes elementos. Por ejemplo, yo uso solo 3 categorías, una que es fruta y verdura que es libre, y hay mucha gente traumatizada con la fruta porque tiene azúcar y bla bla bla, pero la realidad es que no he visto a nadie ponerse gordo por comer demasiadas manzanas, por eso realmente tema fruta y verdura es libre, pero luego hay 2 elementos, uno que llamo proteína y otro que llamo energía. Técnicamente esto no es correcto, porque todos los alimentos contienen aminoácidos y por tanto contienen proteína. Es decir, unas judías verdes serían proteína también, pero bueno de alguna forma hay que categorizar a los alimentos que proporcionalmente tienen más proteína. Y una vez que tienes esas 2 columnas (proteína y energía) y uso energía porque me da igual que ese alimento contenga más grasa o más carbohidratos, simplemente por simplificar y técnicamente también es erróneo porque la proteína también es energía, pero bueno. Esto es simplemente una forma de categorizar alimentos en energía o en proteína. Y ahora haces una equivalencia de todos esos alimentos, por ejemplo a 100 calorías. Es decir pechuga de pollo, ¿Cuántos gramos de pechuga de pollo son 100 calorías? Digamos 80 gramos. Pues ya sabes que una porción de pechuga de pollo son 80 gramos. Y así lo haces con todos los alimentos que vayas a consumir. Evidentemente no lo hagas con los cheetos porque no tiene mucho sentido, pero lo haces con el queso, con las legumbres, con el arroz, con la ternera, con el cerdo, con la merluza, con el salmón… con lo que vayas a comer. Y ya que tienes todo paquetizado en 100 calorías, ahora solo tienes que determinar cuántas calorías necesitas comer al día. Ponle que necesitas 2.000 calorías, pues ya sabes que eso son 20 porciones. Puedes hacer por ejemplo 10 de proteína y 10 de energía. Y ahora con esa información, cuando vayas a casa de tu suegra y te pongan filetes en salsa, con patatas, si sabes que en esa comida tienes que meter 2 porciones de proteína y 2 de energía, pues ya sabes que a lo mejor tienes que meter un par de filetes que serán unos 150 gramos y quizás 200 gramos de patata. Y comes lo que te pone tu suegra pero intentas adaptarlo a ti. Esto no es perfecto, porque especialmente las comidas de las madres o suegras sabemos que llevan mucha trampa y que probablemente lleven el doble de calorías que si hicieras tú esa comida en tu casa, pero al menos tienes un sistema de control y eso es lo importante, porque cuando tienes un sistema de control, si ves que no te está funcionando, puedes decir, vale pues en lugar de comer 2 porciones de proteína y 2 de energía voy a comer 2 de proteína y una de energía, o una de proteína y 1 de energía. Y observas que pasa. Al final este sistema de porciones es una manera de intentar tomar el control de algo que casi nadie tiene control que es su almentación y es una forma de hacerlo que está entre el caos más absoluto de comer lo que me ponen en la mesa sin ningún control y el control exhaustivo de diseñar tú tu alimentación que por supuesto es lo más efectivo, pero quizás por circunstancias no es para todo el mundo, y esta es la siguiente mejor opción. Que ojo, digo la siguiente mejor opción en términos de eficacia, pero si este sistema de porciones te sirve para ser constante controlando tu alimentación, eso ya hace este sistema más efectivo que el planificador nutricional, porque si el planificador nutricional no lo usas o te diseñas tu plan de alimentación pero no lo sigues porque te surgen 1000 cosas y comidas y eventos y demás, pues entonces es posible que para ti, sea mejor el sistema de porciones. Por eso en el programa 4×4 que es un programa para perder 4 kilos en 4 semanas, enseño los 2. Primero enseño a usar el sistema de porciones que lo tengo ya muy depurado con diferentes niveles para que las personas no tengan que pensar en nada simplemente determinar qué nivel usar, que eso también lo enseño en el programa evidentemente y luego cuando ya has determinado el nivel que vas a usar, ya tienes los alimentos con los gramos por cada porción para que no tengas que hacer cuentas ni nada, simplemente te sientas a la mesa y de lo que te pongan ya sabes que tienes que consumir X cantidad de proteína y X cantidad de energía. Y no es perfecto, pero funciona. Origen

As Salvo explains, philosophers asserted the patriarchal origins of language, linguists investigated “women's languages” and grammatical gender, and literary Modernists imagined “feminine” sign systems, and in doing so they not only deemed sex-based divisions to be necessary categories of language but also produced a plethora of gendered tropes and fictions, which they used both to support their claims and delimit their disciplines. Articulating Difference: Sex and Language in the German Nineteenth Century(U Chicago Press, 2024) charts new territory, revealing how gendered conceptions of language make possible the misogynistic logic of exclusion that underlies arguments claiming, for example, that women cannot be great orators or writers. While Salvo focuses on how male scholars aligned language study with masculinity, she also uncovers how women responded, highlighting the contributions of understudied nineteenth-century works on language that women wrote even as they were excluded from academic opportunities. Deep Acharya is a PhD student and a George L. Mosse fellow of Modern European Cultural History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison working on the history of fatherhood in 20th century Germany.
