One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest by Ken Kesey Part 4 chapter 1, narrated by Isaac BirchallThe nurse has planned her revenge of McMurphy, and she very slowly starts to spread the seed of doubt and mistrust amongst the patients. She wants them to start wondering “What is in it for him? Why does he do all of this stuff for me?” She starts by sticking the bank statements of all of the inmates onto the wall, and this gets all of the men wondering more and more why he does sorts of things. She then tries to bring up in the meeting everybody's opinions on McMurphy, but because he was present, her attack didn't get off to a start. So, she decides that the best way forward is to make sure that he isn't there for the next meeting. She starts probing at the men, asking them about him, and eventually the men come around to having doubting thoughts about their “hero;” the only person to try and defend McMurphy is Billy Bibbit. The Nuse goes on to list off all of the things that McMurphy has “given” to the group, pointing out that Mac hasn't put up any collateral for his bets, as opposed to everyone else. Later in the day, the patients go on to say that while they don't agree with what the big nurse was saying, it is hard to argue that McMurphy hasn't made a profit off of them. Harding then pipes up and asks what the problem is. Even if what the nurse said is correct, what is the problem with it. Billy however isn't in agreement with Harding until later in the day, when McMurphy tries to convince him to spend some money on him and Candy.Chief and McMurphy are taking the tables into the Tub Room for the meeting, and he manages to convince Chief to try and lift the huge panel, and though it seems almost impossible, the chief is able to lift it. Then after the meeting, McMurphy manages to make a bet with the men that the chief could lift the panel, so all of them gather around the panel and watch the chief lift it, losing all of their cash. The Chief feels like he has been used and runs away from McMurphy and the other guy.The patients that went on the fishing trip have been ordered to take disinfection showers, and they are forced to take degrading showers while the Aides spray them down with power hoses and soap. When the Aides get to George, they take it too far, spraying him all over as hard as they can. In today's episode of The Andrew Haines Show, we sat down with Adam Nuse the Vice President of Business Operations. Adam Nuse spent the last five years as the Sounds' General Manager & Chief Operating Officer and oversaw all day-to-day operations related to the ballclub. Under his guidance, the Sounds were named the 2019 Triple-A winner of Baseball America's Freitas Award. The Freitas Awards have been presented by Baseball America annually since 1989 and recognize franchises for their community involvement, long-term business success and consistent operational excellence. In 2018 and 2017, the Sounds garnered back-to-back Honorable Mention awards as Minor League Baseball's Team of the Year by Ballpark Digest. Also in 2018, the City of Nashville and the Nashville Sounds were named the home of the best minor league baseball town in America by SmartAsset. Nuse came to Music City from the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the Midwest League, where he served as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer since January 2014. The Texas native was previously with the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Texas League from 2004-2013, where he served in a variety of sales roles throughout his tenure and most recently served as Vice President of Sales beginning in 2009. Nuse began his career in professional baseball as a marketing and sales intern with the 2001 Round Rock Express and the 2002 Oklahoma City RedHawks, both in the Pacific Coast League. What an absolute blessing it is to have Sarah Nuse with me today on Thriving Beyond Belief! Sarah is such a light and is someone who naturally thrives. She is a wife, mother, and owner of Tippy Toes, a dance program that is built into schools during the school day. As a mother herself, she knows that afternoons running around and taking children to various activities can be exhausting, so the dance program is built for young children to participate in during normal school hours, complete with recitals and all! This amazing program has been adopted all over the country, and will hopefully soon be offered internationally! Tippi Toes was actually birthed out of a time of desperation in Sarah’s life, a time when there was not much direction. She was encouraged to dream big and implement those dreams by her parents. We take some time to discuss the importance of the roles of parents in their children’s lives. In a culture where parents want to bless their children with more than they had, there tends to be a generation of people who don’t know what it is like to struggle, fail, and figure out what to do next. The story of how Sarah’s business came to be is so refreshing to hear. We talk a lot about balance. The balance of being a good parent but also putting marriage before parenting. We discuss the balance of what to say “yes” to in your life. We talk about the balance of communication with your partner and taking time for marriage. We discuss the balance of figuring out how the Lord created us and what He wants to do with that creation. Sarah shares some amazing wisdom on all of these topics, reminding us at the base of it all that we were not created to live in fear. We were created to thrive. So anytime we begin to feel the fear creep up, we must turn to the Lord to be reminded that we were made for so much more than living in a “stuck” place of fear. We were created to live and live well. Let us cast away the thought that we “aren’t enough” in whatever capacity the enemy is telling us- whether that be our marriage, how we parent, our position at work, a dream that we want to come to fruition, etc. Let us instead lay those things before the Lord and find strength in who HE is that spurs us to do our best. This episode is so sweet to me, and I wish we could have kept talking. I cannot wait for you to hear this today and be encouraged to live your best!
