I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did making it.** In this episode, we speak to Tim and Chris D’Arcy from Lyndon Station. Tim D’Arcy’s childhood on Lyndon Station was full of adventure and freedom. Accompanied by friends and mentors from the local Aboriginal community, he developed a love of the land and a dream to own his own station one day. And, with the help of his wife, Tim would make that dream come true several times over. Today, Lyndon Station has been under the care of the D’Arcy family for over 90 years. To start our conversation, I asked Tim to share the story of how his father came to be on Lyndon.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

House of the Dragon is an American fantasy drama television series created by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal for HBO. A prequel to Game of Thrones (2011–2019), it is the second television series in Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire franchise. Condal and Miguel Sapochnik served as the showrunners for the first season. Based on parts of Martin's 2018 book Fire & Blood, the series begins about 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen conquest, nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen. Featuring an ensemble cast, the show portrays the events leading up to the decline of House Targaryen, a devastating war of succession known as the "Dance of the Dragons." House of the Dragon received a straight-to-series order in October 2019, with casting beginning in July 2020 and principal photography starting in April 2021 in the United Kingdom. The series premiered on August 21, 2022, with the first season consisting of ten episodes. The series was renewed for a second season five days after its premiere. Sapochnik departed as showrunner after the first season, leaving Condal to serve as the sole showrunner for the second season. The second season premiered on June 16, 2024, with eight episodes. In June 2024, ahead of the second-season premiere, the series was renewed for a third season. The first season received positive reviews, with praise for its character development, visual effects, writing, score by Ramin Djawadi, and performances. However, the pacing, specifically of the time jumps, and the dark lighting of some scenes were criticized. The series premiere was watched by over 10 million viewers across the linear channels and HBO Max on the first day, the biggest in HBO's history. At the 80th Golden Globe Awards, House of the Dragon won Best Television Series – Drama, and Emma D'Arcy was nominated for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. The series earned nine Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, and won three British Academy Television Craft Awards.

Send us a Text Message. How did Nigeria become a key player in the global oil industry despite a muted start and numerous hurdles? Unearth the untold story of Nigeria's oil exploration journey from 1903 to 1958 with me, Amachree Isoboye, as we uncover the significant yet often overlooked efforts by private British oil ventures. This episode sheds light on the challenges faced by early pioneers like Captain Edward Aljanon Bennett and Nigeria Butamine, led by Berghem, as they navigated financial obstacles and local resistance in their quest for black gold. Discover how these small companies carved a path that would eventually be dominated by giants like Shell.Join as we recount the trials and tribulations of Nigeria Butamine, the environmental and technical hurdles that stymied their progress, and the broader colonial context that shaped their endeavors. From the aftermath of World War I and the global surge in oil demand to the intricate negotiations and legislative maneuvers that characterized the early oil exploration landscape, we paint a vivid picture of a period marked by ambition, struggle, and resilience. We also highlight the pivotal role played by nationalist leaders and the local communities who resisted the encroachments of foreign oil companies. Finally, we journey through the complex relationship between Shell /D'Arcy and the colonial government, leading to the formation of the Shell /D'Arcy Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited in 1951. This chapter not only explores the initial opposition but also the gradual alignment of interests that culminated in the significant discovery at Oloibiri in 1956. Through archival collections and contemporary sources, this episode provides a rich historical account, culminating with Nigeria's first shipment of crude oil to Rotterdam—a milestone that heralded a new era in the country's economic history.Support the Show. You can support this show via the link below;https://www.buzzsprout.com/1718587/supporters/new

Siamese Dream Review by Greg Prato While Gish had placed the Smashing Pumpkins on the "most promising artist" list for many, troubles were threatening to break the band apart. Singer/guitarist/leader Billy Corgan was battling a severe case of writer's block and was in a deep state of depression brought on by a relationship in turmoil; drummer Jimmy Chamberlin was addicted to hard drugs; and bassist D'Arcy and guitarist James Iha severed their romantic relationship. The sessions for their sophomore effort, Siamese Dream, were wrought with friction -- Corgan eventually played almost all the instruments himself (except for percussion). Some say strife and tension produces the best music, and it certainly helped make Siamese Dream one of the finest alt-rock albums of all time. Instead of following Nirvana's punk rock route, Siamese Dream went in the opposite direction -- guitar solos galore, layered walls of sound courtesy of the album's producers (Butch Vig and Corgan), extended compositions that bordered on prog rock, plus often reflective and heartfelt lyrics. The four tracks that were selected as singles became alternative radio standards -- the anthems "Cherub Rock," "Today," and "Rocket," plus the symphonic ballad "Disarm" -- but as a whole, Siamese Dream proved to be an incredibly consistent album. Such compositions as the red-hot rockers "Quiet" and "Geek U.S.A." were standouts, as were the epics "Hummer," "Soma," and "Silverfuck," plus the soothing sounds of "Mayonaise," "Spaceboy," and "Luna." After the difficult recording sessions, Corgan stated publicly that if Siamese Dream didn't achieve breakthrough success, he would end the band. He didn't have to worry for long -- the album debuted in the Billboard Top Ten and sold more than four million copies in three years. Siamese Dream stands alongside Nevermind and Superunknown as one of the decade's finest (and most influential) rock albums. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/comics-in-motion-podcast/message

I had the absolute pleasure of interviewing Lesa Ashford who recently set the female World Record as the fastest woman  to circumnavigate Australia.  Lesa set off on March 08 2023, from the Wheel in Brisbane, then connected 19 waypoints around mainland Australia with a total distance exceeding 14,000kms.  92 days, 6 hours and 33 mins later she arrived back in Brisbane, setting the official record as first female. Lesa discusses her motivaions to set off on this challenge, and the obstacles which she had to overcome.  Flooding and cyclones which damaged infrastructure and roads threatened to derail her attempt, but with a display of grit and determination, Lesa didn't give up.It was evident that setting an official record not only takes a lot of training and dedication but also the assistance from an amazing support team and we talk about this in detail.Check out the details of the  official record Lesa set.You can also read Lesa's account of her record breaking ride in more detail. Todd S. Johnson is a photographer and stylist. Todd's photography is colorful just like his styling but I appreciate his love for shooting film. Also to go double dose with the styling and photography head on is impressive. Select clients include Marni, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, and the NBA. I first met Todd on our hiking trip with Salomon and atmos trip. Even though it was the most gorpcore thing I've ever done, I think we all did a great job. The vibes were on point, at one point we found a salamander or some type of reptile and named it Saly for you guessed it…Salomon. The fits be on point, rocking Arc'teryx from head to toe. Arcy sponsor the pod, let's get some drip for our next Wear Many Hats hiking trip. Nature's calling. We need to be one with nature.  Please welcome Todd S.
