Tonight we talk a little more about Oscar Marin and this pitching staff, what in the world happened to Rodolfo Castro and why there is way too much overreaction, and also breakdown the updated Baseball America's Pirates Top Prospect List.
Easy series. The Mets continued their winning ways with a sweet of the Cincinnati Reds this week at Citi Field. Chris Bassitt, Carlos Carrasco all gave length. Francisco Lindor mashed. Tyler Naquin, Daniel Vogelbach, and Darin Ruf stayed hot. This series was so easy that the Mets didn't trail for a single moment. None! After wrapping that up we talk to friend of the show Matt Eddy, executive editor of Baseball America, about the Mets farm system. He takes us through their top 30, new draft picks, Francisco Álvarez, Brett Baty, and a few sleepers. Always a great time with Matt. We close with a preview of a very important Phillies series this weekend. Hope we see everyone at the ballpark for these games! The Nats coughed up a late lead in Chicago and lost 4-2 . Mark & Al again begin with the exploits of "Joey Four Bags" Menses as he homered in every game in this series and has four dingers in seven games. The 30 year old rookie has certainly taken advantage of his opportunity since the trade deadline. (06:40) Josiah Gray had his first good outing in awhile as he did not allow a run until the 7th inning. His afternoon came to an end after giving up his MLB leading 29th HR of the season. His bullpen however did not hold onto the lead as the Cubs scored all their runs in the 7th. (12:30) Wednesday was both sides of the Victor Robles spectrum. He had an incredible diving catch, but then later made a crucial mistake. He made a poor decision on a throw home in the game changing 7th inning, which was compounded by it landing nowhere near a teammate's glove. (27:05) Jarlin Susana made his organizational debut in Florida and hit 102 MPH on the radar gun. This leads into a conversation about the new Baseball America rankings for Washington's system, which is led by C.J. Abrams. (34:20) Less than two weeks after the trade; Juan Soto returns to D.C. on Friday night. Will they pitch to him? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
The Nats lost 6-3 at the Cubs for their sixth consecutive defeat. Al begins by pointing out to Mark that a bright spot emerged on Monday in the new prospects rankings by Baseball America. Washington has five of the top 55 prospects, with four ranked ahead of Cade Cavalli (C.J. Abrams the highest at #11). (07:30) An emailer asks if Cade Cavalli remaining in AAA has anything to do with MLB service time stipulations. Is it more baseball reasons or service time reasons? (12:40) Two Natonals went deep at Wrigley Field, Luke Voit & Joey Meneses. We are looking to come up with a nickname for Meneses; after he spent the past decade toiling in the Minors. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org (19:05) Anibal Sanchez had a decent outing until it fell apart in the sixth inning. He has allowed a staggering amount of homers this season and his ERA is above 7.00. This leads to a familiar discussion about how poor the starting pitching has been as of late, (27:50) Maikel Franco made a big time mental mistake as the Cubs executed a double steal without a pitch being thrown. Mark explains what occurred on the bizarre play in the 7th inning. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

On today's episode of the show, we're looking at some recent mocks from Baseball America and MLB.com to figure out what we do and don't know about this draft class. We know Druw Jones is the favorite to go #1 to the Baltimore Orioles, but what do the Colorado Rockies do at #8 if the first tier of players are all gone? The consensus seems to be a run on college outfielders late in the firs round - who is in that group? And of course, we still have questions about what the Kansas City Royals will do at 9, where Kumar Rocker and Carson Whisenhunt will go, and will we set a record by not having a pitcher taken in the first ten picks for time first time ever? Welcome to From Complex to Queens, the Amazin' Avenue podcast focusing on the Mets' minor league system. The Cyclone opened on this date in 1927, so the guys discuss it in Promote, Extend, Trade...kinda. Next, Steve, Ken, and Thomas discusses a fairly in-depth mock draft done by the good people at Baseball America. Baseball America mocked shortstop Cole Young and right-handed pitcher Gabriel Hughes to the Mets in the first round and right-handed pitcher Ben Joyce in the second round. How does that sound to you? After, the team give updates on the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones, St. Lucie Mets, and Florida Complex League Mets. Welcome to UnforMETable, an Amazin' Avenue Audio show that looks back on less heralded, more obscure Mets players from the past. Alex Ochoa was the proverbial five tool prospect as he moved up through the Orioles organization, rising into the top half of Baseball America's Top 100 Prospect List. The Mets held out for Ochoa as the prize when they moved Bobby Bonilla to the Orioles at the 1995 trade deadline. Ochoa's arrival was heavily hyped, and he got off to a strong start in the middle of 1996—notably hitting for a cycle early in his career. But he never quite lived up to the hype, fizzling out but winding up his career as a backup outfielder for the 2002 World Champion Angels. As always, you can listen or subscribe to this and all of our wonderful Amazin' Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. We were then joined by Scott Miller who writes for the NY Times and Baseball America. He came on with Huge to give his thoughts on the Tigers this far in the season. They also took a look around the rest of the MLB. We wrapped up the hour with Cathy Cooper from the Meijer team as the Meijer LPGA for Simply Give is just a couple weeks away. She updated us on what's new this year, what ticket sales have been like, and more. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then we're on to the mock draft! Jim Callas (https://twitter.com/jimcallisMLB) of MLB.com put out THIS (http://atmlb.com/3Nc2OpV) mock draft last week - how does this differ from the previous Baseball America mock draft we looked at, and what can we learn from it?
