Illinois football continues to climb in the rankings, following a 26-9 win at Nebraska. Craig Choate and Logan Lee recap and look ahead to the matchup with Michigan State in this episode of No One Asked Us. Illinois and the Spartans kick off at 3:30 ET on Big Ten Network on Saturday from Champaign. Not much movement in the Big Ten Power Rankings this week. But Logan did make one significant change near the top. Logan also closed the gap in Pick Your Pick, but Craig still maintains a small lead. We got our first glimpse of the new-look Illinois basketball team on Friday, a 87-52 win over Quincy. Coleman Hawkins and RJ Melendez lead the way scoring with 15, Hawkins also grabbed 12 rebounds. It was a sloppy start and the 3-point shooting was less and ideal, but that's what exhibition games are for. Are the guys worried? Cubs fans are all up in their feels after Nolan Arenado opted-in to the final five years of his deal with the St. Louis Cardinals. Logan tried to keep calm while Craig explains what he thinks happened with Arenado and the Cardinals front office. All that and much much more in episode 77! Listen, like, subscribe, and SHARE! Illinois finds another puzzle piece in the transfer portal as Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer commits to Brad Underwood and the Illini. Craig Choate and Logan Lee react to the news in an Illini Special episode from No One Asked Us. Mayer spent four years at Baylor where he averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds for his career. He The 6'9 forward started all 33 games for the Bears in 2022 and averaged a career high 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. He played double-digit minutes in all but one game for Baylor during their national championship season in 2021, that included a 82-69 win over Illinois where Mayer scored 7 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Mayer joins Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon as former Big 12 standouts to take their talents north to the Big Ten. Mayer also joins former Baylor teammate Dain Dainja on the Illini roster. Illinois once returns three players that played significant minutes for the Illini last season in Coleman Hawkins, RJ Melendez, and Luke Goode. The Illini still have two open scholarships for the upcoming season. The roster could use another big man down low and a lead guard. Brad Underwood has also mentioned leaving one of those scholarships open for the potential addition of a mid-year transfer, like Dainja last season.
