Arsenal are Premier League champions. In Part 1 of The NN Pod's end-of-season review series, the hosts revisit the campaign from August through to May, reliving the key moments, turning points and emotions that shaped Arsenal's first league title in 22 years. The conversation follows the season chronologically, from the opening-day win at Old Trafford and the early defeat at Anfield, through the unbeaten runs, Champions League nights, title-race pressure and the difficult periods that threatened to derail the campaign. Along the way, the hosts reflect on pivotal matches against Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayern Munich and Atlético, discussing how momentum shifted throughout the season and which moments proved most significant in Arsenal eventually lifting the Premier League trophy. The episode also revisits conversations that ran throughout the year, including Mikel Arteta's management, Arsenal's resilience under pressure, the atmosphere around the club, the Champions League final disappointment and the impact of the summer transfer window. Part 1 concludes with a wider reflection on what made this title-winning campaign unique and why the connection between the players and supporters became one of the defining themes of the season. Mea Culpa welcomes back our good friend Norm Eisen. There's pretty much nothing going on in politics today that Eisen doesn't have an educated opinion about. Eisen is a CNN Legal Analyst. And the founder and executive chair of “States United Democracy Center” a nonpartisan organization advancing free, fair, and secure elections. His articles for the Brookings Institute and elsewhere have made the case for why Trump and his band of criminal conspiracists represented a clear and present danger to democracy. His latest piece for MSNBC lays out how Jack Smith can defeat Trump and put him behind bars. Eisen served as special counsel to President Barack Obama on ethics. In that role, he was dubbed “Mr. No” and the “Ethics Czar” because he's well known for his tough anti-corruption approach to governance. Having spent time in Eastern Europe as the Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Eisen cares deeply about the region and is also working with the Brookings Institute to help Ukraine recover and thrive once Putin's war has ended. But today it's all indictment talk. And Norm is ready to put the bracelets on little Donny for good.
After twenty-two long years, Arsenal are champions again. The jokes about “bottling it” can finally be retired, at least temporarily, and somewhere in North London a generation of supporters are still wandering around in a state of emotional confusion, unsure whether to sing, cry or simply phone relatives they have not spoken to since the Wenger era.In this episode of Mark and Pete, we look at Arsenal's long-awaited Premier League triumph and the surprisingly serious question hidden underneath all the celebrations. Why does football matter so much to people, especially men who otherwise communicate most emotions through grunting softly at the television while making tea?The discussion follows a recent study suggesting many men display stronger visible emotion during football than in almost any other part of life. Victories bring joy, relief and hugging strangers. Defeats produce silence so profound entire households can feel it settling over the furniture. A missed penalty can apparently alter the emotional climate of a semi-detached house for forty-eight hours.Along the way Mark and Pete talk about loyalty, tribalism, fathers and sons watching football together, the strange liturgy of the football crowd, and why modern society often mocks male passion unless it happens to involve sport. There is also reflection on the emotional hunger sitting underneath much of modern life. Football cannot save anyone, obviously, though some supporters continue to test the theory every season. But it does reveal something important about human beings. We long to belong to something bigger than ourselves. We want shared stories, shared victories and somewhere to place hope, even if that hope is wearing a slightly faded replica shirt and shouting at a referee from Row Q.Includes humour, theology, football nostalgia, British cultural commentary and the usual slightly dangerous mixture of seriousness and silliness.#Arsenal #PremierLeague #Football #Soccer #ArsenalFC #MenAndEmotion #MarkAndPete #ChristianPodcast #FootballCulture #BritishPodcast #CurrentAffairs #Sport #FaithAndCulture #PremierLeagueChampions
1. Election Results & Significance Ken Paxton wins decisively with roughly 64% vs 36% (a ~28-point margin). This is described as: A major upset for an incumbent A “sea change” in Republican politics Cornyn had: 24 years in the Senate Significant institutional power and funding Despite heavy financial backing (over $100M+ spent, mostly for Cornyn), Paxton wins overwhelmingly. 2. Why Paxton Won Several factors are highlighted: ✅ Anti-establishment sentiment The race was a: “Conservative grassroots vs establishment Republican” Voters favored a more ideological, outsider-style candidate. ✅ Trump’s influence Donald Trump endorsed Paxton (late in the race). The hosts argue: The endorsement boosted Paxton’s margin But Paxton was already leading in polls ✅ Perception of ideological purity Paxton is: “The most conservative attorney general in the country” This appealed to Republican primary voters. 3. The Role of Money The race becomes: One of the most expensive Senate primaries ever Despite: Massive spending (mostly pro-Cornyn) Outcome shows:

Texas Republicans on Tuesday chose Attorney General Ken Paxton's hard-charging MAGA style over Sen. John Cornyn's seasoned establishment conservatism after one of the state's most bruising races in years. Former U.S. Rep. Colin Allred beat incumbent U.S. Rep. Julie Johnson in Tuesday's runoff for a newly drawn North Texas district in a race that turned the onetime Democratic allies against each other. In other news, Fort Worth ISD said it will reassign a new principal after her hire sparked a sharp backlash from conservatives and far-right groups; a Mesquite man facing a charge of capital murder in the death of a 4-month-old girl was barred by a protective order from the apartment where he told police he was alone with the child before she became unresponsive; and despite the team's ownership demonstrating an interest in legalizing gambling in Texas, Dallas Mavericks CEO Rick Welts maintains the group does not have a “casino component” attached to current plans for a new arena. In Texas, State Attorney General Ken Paxton beat out Senator John Cornyn to race against Democrat James Talarico for the U.S. Senate seat. Paxton won President Trump's endorsement late in the game, just one week before this runoff. Cornyn had served in the Senate for 23 years, and said he would still support the Republican ticket after his loss. In the race to replace Ken Paxton's Attorney General position, Congressman Chip Roy lost to State Representative Mayes Middleton. On the Democrat side, Congressman Al Green was ousted by Representative Christian Menefee.A massive chemical tank collapsed Tuesday morning at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging paper mill in Longview, Washington. Officials say the tank contained nearly 900,000 gallons of a corrosive chemical mixture known as white liquor. The fire department says the collapse killed at least one worker and injured nine others. Emergency crews say recovery efforts were suspended overnight because the damaged tank remains unstable. Investigators say it remains unclear what caused the tank to implode. Recovery crews are expected to return today once the damaged structure can be safely stabilized.China, Mexico, and Canada were all part of a broader discussion on Tuesday, as U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer outlined the administration's global economic trade strategy. He defended the administration's focus on goods and manufacturing, even as the U.S. remains a services-heavy economy. He argued manufacturing is critical because it anchors communities, supports national security, strengthens supply chains, and creates upward mobility.
