I can't stress enough, the importance of implementing self-care into our daily lives. As a woman wearing multiple hats, it's often difficult to actually stop to carve out time for myself. The last year or so has been an absolute struggle but I continue to remind myself of the importance of implementing self-care into my life. I know that if I am struggling, then someone else is struggling with this as well. This week, I decided to go back to the vault and pull out some of the tools that can help all of us take the necessary steps to focus on self-care and preservation. This week's episode is a replay of an interview with Dr. Robyn L. Gobin, licensed clinical psychologist, associate professor and author. Dr. Gobin discusses her book, The Self-Care Prescription and shares insightful information about recognizing the signs of depression and anxiety; as well as helpful tips for managing self-care during a crisis. Attending summer programs in high school and college can be extremely helpful in helping students figure out what they want to study. 2. The difference between Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) and Psy.D. (Doctor of Psychology) programs. 3. The importance of mentors. Dr. Gobin almost took a more costly route to getting her doctorate degree when a mentor advised her to reconsider. 4. The necessity of having self-awareness and knowing what works best for you. This will help you to know when to disregard or follow recommendations others make.
