In this episode, Derek sits down with Big Buck Killer Ryan Glisky of Pennsylvania. Ryan starts off by talking a little bit about his early season success in Maryland this year with a great buck he took on an early season betting pattern. Ryan relates a lot of his decision-making with confidence that has been built up over the years in the areas and styles of hunting he incorporates. The conversation turns from early season to Ryan‘s favorite time of year to hunt which is the rut. He talks about his focus on doe betting areas and travel pinch points between dough betting. The idea of confidence comes up again as they discuss the importance of putting time in and sticking it out in locations, you have confidence in. Ryan shares a wealth of knowledge and a diverse range of strategies that he has used to put himself in front of mature bucks. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome everybody. This week Alex talked with Ryan Glitsky aka 'Moose'. Topics discussed included: - Using woodsmanship skills instead of chasing trail camera photos - Mature bucks in October - Setting up for the rut Hope you enjoy, and thank you for listening!
In this chat, Ryan and I dive deep into our trail camera tactics and how we decipher the data for our hunts. With around 30 cameras each, we stress the importance of picking spots with dense cover that make mature bucks feel at home. Our strategy is simple: focus on deer trails, key terrain features, scrapes and transitions. Our talk revolves around understanding the 'why' behind deer behavior, blending trail camera intel with on-the-ground scouting and ass time in a tree in season. We highlight how weather, wind, and terrain influence deer movement, shaping our hunting playbook. As we map out our upcoming hunts, we swap our approaches to using wind patterns, weather's impact on deer behavior, and the key days to be in the woods, especially during the rut. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PODCAST 388 Using trail cameras to cover large tracts of land Security cover Following edges and transitions, and deer trails, can lead to finding good sign Simplicity and focusing on the diversity of factors Combining trail camera data with on-the-ground scouting Weather conditions, wind direction, and thermals Putting in time and effort over multiple seasons is necessary to develop a successful hunting strategy Specific days of the week can have a significant impact on deer activity Persistence and mental focus are key to hunting success. Ryan, or as his friends know him "Moose" is as hardcore of a deer hunter as they come. He has made his name hunting whitetails in the mountains of PA. Ryan puts a tremendous effort into scouting public hunting areas so when he has the time off from work during the rut he goes for broke on tagging a mature mountain buck. Ryan is also a member of the Whitetail Addictions team who has been producing top end hunting content for years. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Ryan who wasn't afraid to share his well thought out opinions on some different key topics that the hunting community is currently trying to weigh out. Topics include trail camera bans, crossbows, and fitness. October is finally here! Many whitetail hunters have a love-hate relationship with October, especially the first few weeks of the month. With the frenzy of the rut still a few weeks off, if you haven't done your homework, mature buck sightings can be few and far between. And there are few guys out there who put in the work to get on bucks quite like Ryan Glitsky. In this episode of the Wisconsin Sportsman Podcast, Josh & Pierce talk with Ryan Glitsky about Ryan's process for getting on BIG bucks. Ryan primarily hunts big woods mountain bucks in PA, and he does it at a very high level. This week, Josh and Pierce get to quiz Ryan on his approach on everything from in season scouting to trail cam strategy to when to stay put and when to make a move during the rut. This episode is FULL of good info that just might help you get on deer instead of simply watching squirrels. Enjoy! Connect with the Wisconsin Sportsman on Instagram. In today's episode, we catch up with Ryan Glitsky. I first learned about Ryan through Instagram where he goes by Moose1720. Ryan spends a lot of time in the field and is passion for hunting whitetails is obvious. A self-described rut hunter, Ryan has an impressive collection of whitetails from his home state of Pennsylvania and from his travels in the Midwest including Ohio and Iowa. In today's podcast Ryan and I discuss a range of topics including scrape hunting, trail camera placement, morning, evening, and all day sits. We also discuss Ryan's experiences hunting different types of terrain in Pennsylvania, including farm country and big woods. We also dive into one of Ryan's bread and butter tactics, which is finding subtle funnels with boots on the ground scouting. I really enjoyed my conversation with Ryan, and I definitely picked up a tip or two to put in the toolbox going forward.
