In this episode, Ryan and Becca talk about how they approach recommending shows to other makers who are thinking about applying. They share why they're careful about offering exact sales numbers and how using comparisons or percentages can paint a more realistic picture of what to expect. The conversation dives into how experience, product mix, and audience fit can all affect results. It's a thoughtful look at how to give honest, helpful feedback without setting unrealistic expectations.Maker of the MomentSarah - @slowlifepotteryJudah - @judahbirkelandListener QuestionsWhen fellow makers ask you about an event you've been at bc they're looking to apply to it, do you automatically tell them your sales or do you answer more vague? Over the years, Dr Wood has watched her own patients struggle to achieve wellness while lacking sufficient focus on mental health. With shortening doctor visit times, only the bare minimum can be done during a typical wellness exam, excluding the opportunity for a woman's most trusted care provider to assess her mental health – arguably the gateway to her overall health and wellness. Likewise, during postpartum visits, Dr. Wood found that there is no time to help young mothers struggling with mental health issues. Finding another mental health provider to care for a patient with perinatal mood disorders, infertility, or fetal loss is equally challenging. Following her passion and determined to make a difference, Dr. Wood obtained a certification in perinatal mood disorders, psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy, and she started the Woman Made Well clinic with one mission – to achieve wellness through the proactive pursuit of both physical AND mental health. She is passionate about empowering women with the care and tools they need to live their best life. The Bulletproof Dental Podcast Episode 402 HOSTS: Dr. Peter Boulden and Dr. Craig Spodak GUEST: Erika Pusillo DESCRIPTION In this episode, Pete, Craig, and Erika discuss the critical aspects of hiring associates in dental practices, focusing on economic expectations, communication, compensation, cultural fit, and the importance of aligning treatment philosophies. They break down the need for clarity in communication, understanding the true value of compensation beyond percentages, and the significance of cultural fit in ensuring successful associate relationships. TAKEAWAYS Communication is more of an art than a science. Clarity is kindness; unclear expectations lead to failed associateships. Compensation should be discussed in terms of take-home pay, not just percentages. Cultural fit is crucial for successful associate relationships. Associates should ask about practice growth and performance history. Hiring should focus on long-term goals, not just immediate needs. Continuous communication is essential to prevent misunderstandings. Hunger and integrity are unteachable qualities in associates. Practice owners should be transparent about financials and opportunities. Shadowing can help assess cultural fit before hiring. What's stopping your work from shipping? It's probably not the design itself. This week, I chat with Guy Segal about the soft skills that make the biggest difference—giving feedback, earning trust, and aligning with your team when things get tough. What if the biggest reason your designs aren't making it to production has nothing to do with design? You know your work is solid. You've put in the hours, iterated on the flow, and covered every edge case. But when it comes time to hand it off or get sign-off, something breaks. It stalls, gets picked apart, or falls flat. Sound familiar? In this episode, I sit down with Guy Segal—design leader and host of Design Downtime—to talk about why “soft skills” are the hardest part of UX, and how improving them can be the difference between your designs shipping or collecting dust. We cover how to give better feedback, how to handle misalignment without blowing things up, and what it actually means to be someone your team wants to work with. This conversation is a must-listen if you've ever felt like good design work wasn't enough. Because it isn't.
