On this episode, we have Sara Delaney who is the Founder and CEO at Sarilla. Sarilla is supporting regenerative agriculture with its lineup of ready-to-drink spritzers that are all made with organic and regenerative ingredients. Sarilla sources the majority of its ingredients via direct trade relationships with farmer cooperatives in Rwanda that are USDA Organic and Fair Trade Certified and pursuing regenerative certification. In this episode, Sara shares how she was inspired to launch the brand to further her work supporting the people of Rwanda in their ongoing recovery from the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, and she shares how Sarilla has grown over time to find the right name, SKUs, and product positioning. Sara's personal story is one of resiliency, empathy, and community and is definitely very alive in the Sarilla brand. She subscribes to the Rwandan wisdom that “to be alone is to die” - which underpins Sarilla's social impact mission and should serve as good advice for all of looking to increase collaborative efforts in regeneration. Imagine you finally get to a point as a beverage company where you can upgrade to your first printed cans. You had to secure a new contract with a can company and co-packer to make it happen. Everything is all set for your production run, and the co-packer starts running your product through the line. But then, disaster strikes. All 10,000 cans come out of the tunnel pasteurizer with labels peeling off. All that product is unsellable, and effectively lost. The copacker blames the can company, and the can company says the facility wasn't approved. You're caught in a frustrating "he said, she said" scenario, with no one taking responsibility. To make matters even worst, your business insurance isn't setup to cover this type of product loss. This is exactly what happened to Sara Delaney, founder of Sarilla.Join me as I talk with Sara along with Russ Taylor, from SecureCPG to learn how this happened and how proper insurance can help you prevent issues like this from happening to your company.Learn More About Sarilla: https://www.drinksarilla.com/Learn More About SecureCPG: https://securecpg.com/Startup to Scale is a podcast by Foodbevy, an online community to connect emerging food, beverage, and CPG founders to great resources and partners to grow their business. Jane Christie and Sara Delaney played a crucial role (along with many others) in the grassroots movement in the UK to have the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints require background checks of anyone who works with the youth of the Church. Unlike many other religious organizations, the Church has a history of NOT having Background Checks be a part of giving “callings” to folks who work with children and adolescents. This has been a concern many members worldwide have brought to the leader's attention for decades. The Church has preferred to take an in-house approach to allegations of abuse, guiding bishops and other ecclesiastical leaders to first call the Church's hotline (which is overseen by attorneys), instead of contacting local authorities. This is a huge win in getting the Church to comply with local governing bodies and their methodology in best protecting children and minors.  Jane Christie hosts the 21st Century Saints podcast and livestream. She joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a teenager and throughout her life has served in the Church in Scotland in callings including as Young Women's President, Relief Society Counsellor, and Youth Sunday School teacher. Jane's interest in the lived experience of church members along with her caring role for her disabled son has led to her focus on the protection and inclusion of the vulnerable within faith communities. Sara Elizabeth Delaney has a long-term professional background as Probation Officer and Social Worker working with adult and child victims and perpetrators of harm. Sara is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England serving in callings throughout her 40+ years of membership. She currently serves as Safeguarding Specialist on her Stake. Intro ("Fisher's Hornpipe") and outro by Otter Creek Podcast edited by: Ashley Pacini

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints repeatedly has proclaimed that it has zero tolerance for abuse of any kind. That's all well and good, some British Latter-day Saints reasoned, but not enough. They wanted their faith to do more, to undertake concrete reforms that could help prevent abuse from happening in the first place. So they launched a widespread public and private lobbying effort. They surveyed members. They wrote to their church leaders. They contacted national lawmakers. All that praying, pleading and prodding finally paid off when, starting this month, the church adopted a new policy mandating, among other measures, background checks for any church volunteers in the United Kingdom who work with children, youths or vulnerable adults. On this week's show, Sara Delaney and Jane Christie, who together began the “21st Century Saints” podcast, along with Douglas Stilgoe, host of the “Nemo the Mormon” podcast, discuss their campaign — when they started it, how they structured it, and why it succeeded.

Maturepreneurial Podcast: Interviews with Older Entrepreneurs | Online Business Tips | Learn From Those Who Have Succeeded

As a fashion stylist by trade at Lobler & Delaney for more than a decade, Sara Delaney found that styling the ladies of New York was getting in the way of really experiencing the city. She decided it was time to learn new stuff, grab adventure by the horns, and after a series of fashion journalism classes, her fashion and lifestyle blog was born. Notes From a Stylist initially started as a place to share fashion finds, muse about style inspiration, and document Sara's exploits. But as family and everyday life marched on, dragging her past the dreaded 40-year mark (only to find that she didn't turn into a pumpkin and was still quite besotted with shoes and sequins!), the blog morphed into a resource for how to keep your fashion mojo on track. Newly refurbished, Sara's blog is positioned to channel her fashion styling nous into a community where women can find anything from how to work the seasonal trends, to new interior finds, right through to quick and easy recipes. Along the way, Sara has worked with world-class brands like The White Company, Designers Guild, Harrods, Barbour, Astley Clarke, and Liberty London, but she is always happy to collaborate with new brands that are the right fit for the blog. In addition to her blogging work, Sara also consults on social media projects, helping people set up and run their digital presence online. Currently, she is working with leading facialist Lisa Franklin and advising the social media campaign for The Wild At Heart Foundation's major charitable event in June. Sara was recently named in Fashion Monitor’s Top Influencers over 40 list and is quoted in The Times article: The Rise of the Midlife Instagrammers by Alex Gorton.
