The past week in Scottish politics has been all about fall outs. Who can speak at an independence rally? Which rally should take precedence? Will the Scottish Greens bail out of the Bute House Agreement over the abandonment of climate change targets and the Cass Review? We ask if these disputes mask the dearth of ideas at government level over how to tackle the fundamental issue of climate change and cloud the necessity of cooperation and unity in the drive for Scottish independence? The Cass Review has been the focus of much of the media and many politicians. The last time that Ben Watkiss was on the podcast, he was working for League One's Burton Albion as a strength and conditioning coach. Now, he's crossed the border to Scotland – where he's working as the Lead Sport Scientist for Ayr United, who play in the Scottish Championship where they're currently sitting in a mid-table position. And the last time Ben was on, back in April of 2021, men's football looked like a very different place – with no Jakub Jankto, no Jake Daniels, no Josh Cavallo, no Zander Murray, no James Adcock when it came to out, visible gay male role-models in the men's game. So, we thought it was high-time to get Ben back on the podcast to have a catch-up, both about his life and how the men's game has changed over the past couple of years. We talk adapting to life in Scotland, doing his job during the pandemic, being an out gay man in football, how Ayr United helped him share his story with the club and loads, loads more. As always, Ben is a brilliant guest to have – open, honest, chatty, upbeat and really good value as a person to chat with – so we think you're really going to like this conversation. It's that time of year again for the annual episode of MGR... Long time, no speak. We're sorry. But, we're back with a bang to discuss the upcoming Scottish Championship 2023. On this week's show we discuss the trends from lists, who has the spiciest list and who we think will be on that podium come Sunday afternoon. Special shout-out goes to the amazing Rotten Factory, who will be sponsoring the event itself - please check out their stuff, it's disgustingly good (see what I did there...).

Rich explains the fortnight absence before delving into all the goalkeeping action from the weekend, plus a few snippets we missed last time out. There's a nod to three goalkeeping substitutions in the Premier League (plus another in the Scottish Championship), matchwinning performances from Illan Meslier and David de Gea (although the latter still not deemed decent enough for a provisional 55-man Spain squad) and a return to form and action for Danny Ward and Mark Travers respectively. The klaxon is sounded thanks to Nik Tzanev's pinpoint distribution as AFC Wimbledon beat Harrogate - and there's even a goalkeeper goal to celebrate courtesy of Alex Bass' last-gasp equaliser for Sunderland U21 at Newcastle. --- Thank you, as always, for your support. Please feel free to drop us a line with absolutely any goalkeeping queries and questions. hello@goalkeepersunion 07503673020 (WhatsApp) @GKUnion (Twitter) @gkupodcast (Instagram) Oh, and if you like what we do, we'd be hugely appreciative if you scribbled it on a review over at iTunes.
