It was a dramatic week for USMNT players abroad, with headlines coming from Italy, the Netherlands, England, and beyond. In Coppa Italia action, Christian Pulisic started for AC Milan as they sought their first cup title since 2003, but it was Bologna who stole the spotlight. Dan Ndoye, who the USMNT will face in June with Switzerland, scored the only goal to lift Bologna to their first major trophy in 51 years. AC Milan now looks ahead to Sunday's critical Serie A matchup against Roma, with Juventus facing Udinese the same day. Elsewhere, Inter take on Lazio and Parma host Napoli in key matchups that could shake up the title race. Over in the Eredivisie, Malik Tillman turned heads with a brace in PSV's 4-1 win over Heracles, while Sergiño Dest returned to form with an assist. Ajax conceded a 90th-minute equalizer, shooting PSV atop the table by a single point with one game remaining. In the English Championship playoffs, Sunderland dramatically advanced past Haji Wright & Coventry thanks to Dan Ballard's 120th-minute goal. The USMNT's fall schedule is taking shape, with two September friendlies announced. The U.S. will face South Korea on September 6th and Japan on September 9th. These matches follow the USMNT's Gold Cup title bid this summer on FOX. Stateside, MLS Rivalry Week brings intense matchups. Columbus Crew face in-state rivals FC Cincinnati in the Hell is Real Derby. The always-heated Portland vs. Seattle clash follows LAFC's 4-0 rout of Seattle and Portland's 0-0 draw with RSL. In Southern California, LA Galaxy take on LAFC after blowing a lead in a dramatic 3-2 loss to Philadelphia. Inter Miami hosts Orlando after a fiery 3-3 draw where Messi's frustration drew Bruce Arena into the mix Alexi and Mosse wrap the podcast with a question debating if "Golden Goal" should return, and reviews are rolling in for the newly unveiled USMNT and USWNT kits.

Matchday 32 saw some huge results, and a few postponed fixtures due to the Pope's death, including Cagliari vs Fiorentina, Genoa vs Lazio, Parma vs Juventus, and Torino vs Udinese, all ongoing while we record.Inter's late 1-0 loss to Bologna thanks to a 94th-minute Orsolini stunner blew the title race wide open, with Napoli now level on points after a narrow 0-1 win over Monza. Scott McTominay was the hero again, netting his third goal in two games. With the new rule change, we could be heading toward a Serie A final between Inter and Napoli.Bologna's win temporarily pushed them into 4th, applying pressure on Juve as they prepare to face Parma. Meanwhile, Milan's 1-0 defeat to Atalanta means they're likely to miss out on European football altogether unless they pull off something special in the Coppa Italia second leg.Roma bounced back from two draws with another narrow 1-0 win over a relegation-threatened side — this time against Verona, with Shomurodov getting the goal.In the relegation race, Como cruised to a 0-3 win over Lecce thanks to a Diao brace, while Empoli and Venezia played out a dramatic 2-2 draw, each scoring late. Empoli are still winless in 2025, and neither side will be happy with just a point. All the talking points, every team, every match – every week.Special Shoutout to our Media Partners Benevo Bid - Check out their collection here; https://benevobid.com/#acmilan #inter #juventus #torino #napoli #atalanta #bologna #fiorentina #roma #lazio #lecce #cagliari #udinese #monza #venezia #como #hellasverona #parma #empoli #genoa #football #soccer #footballpodcast #podcastPatreon (Support our Content): https://patreon.com/Serieaspotlight?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLinkYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@serieaspotlightInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/serieaspotlight/Twitter: https://x.com/SerieASpotlight?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

Lazio were held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese on Sunday and Vittorio and Alasdair are on hand to review the game. We discuss the striker crisis, Dia's dip in form, and debate whether the Europa League or Serie A is more important this season ahead of a huge month of games.
What a game! Lazio earned ANOTHER last-second 2-1 win away from home, beating Viktoria Plzen with nine men thanks to a Gustav Isaksen screamer in the final minute. Alasdair and Vittorio review the game and look ahead to a difficult challenge against Udinese.
From Napoli crumbling defensively to Como, poor Inter beat Genoa to go top of the league, Ademola Lookman scores a brace in the middle of war of words with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Juventus win 4th straight match in league thanks to Dusan Vlahovic, AC Milan nightmare week continues in comical Torino loss, to Vanja Milinkovic-Savic saves another penalty kick, Lazio and Venezia both lose in goalless draw, and Lorenzo Lucca clownshow, Paulo Dybala wondergoals for Roma in Europa League, as well as this week's Baggio, Serie ASS and Premface of the week plus much, much more when Nima and Carlo break down all the main talking points from Match Day 26 of the 2024/2025 Serie A season.Timestamps:00:00 Intro02:28 Napoli: Crumble Defensively In Como Loss19:48 Inter Milan: Poor Performance But Win To Go Top Of Serie A30:08 Genoa: Patrick Vieira Has Done A Good Job Since Taking Over31:30 Atalanta: Ademola Lookman Brace In Middle Of War With Gian Piero Gasperini49:31 Juventus: Dusan Vlahovic Gifts 4th Straight Serie A Win - Scudetto Outsiders?01:01:34 AC Milan: Nightmare Week Continues In Torino Loss01:19:18 Torino: Vanja Milinkovic-Savic Saves 4/5 Penalties - Ready For A Big Club?01:23:16 Lazio: Needless Draw Against Venezia Which Helps Neither Club01:26:36 Best Of The Rest: Lorenzo Lucca Clownshow When Udinese Beat Lecce, Moise Kean Injury Scare When Fiorentina Lose, Parma Win On Christian Chivu Debut01:35:14 Baggio, Premface & Serie ASS Of The WeekIf you want to support The Italian Football Podcast and get every episode, simply become a member on Patreon.com/TIFP OR Spotify OR YouTube Memberships. Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. Wild Atlanta United win in their opener on Saturday night with two goals from Latte Lath and a banger from Edwin Mosquera. Good start, but definitely things to improve going forward. Had chances to break the game wide open in the first 45, but didn't and Montreal grew into the match and provided some real challenges. San Diego became the story of the opening weekend with a 2-0 win in LA over the Galaxy. The win could have been even bigger, huge statement for San Diego. Bruce Arena started his era in San Jose with a 4-0 win over RSL, Cristian Espinoza with 3 assists from a wing back position there. Philadelphia surprised everyone with a big win in Orlando. Columbus and Chicago combined for 5 goals in the first half of a very interesting match that saw the Crew get the win with Steven Moreira again providing the spark to unbalance the opponent. Youngest USWNT lineup since 2001 saw them defeat Australia 2-1 in the SheBelieves Cup. Japan defeated Colombia 4-0 so Wednesday's USA-Japan match will determine the tournament champion and the USWNT have to win due to Japan having superior goal differential. Sportico had a fascinating story over the weekend about the US Soccer Federation's interest in overhauling some of men's college soccer. Early stages in all of it, but I can't wait to see where everything goes. The battle for Champions League spots in England will be the defining story the rest of the way as the title is pretty much Liverpool's after their big win over Manchester City. 7 points separate 4th place City and 11th place Brentford, and a 5th Champions League spot could go to England due to the country coefficients. Rangers fired Philippe Clement as the San Francisco 49ers try to buy up enough shares to become majority owners, setting the table for a clear new vision for the club. The Turkish league has gone outside the country to assign the referee for today's huge clash between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.Neymar scored an Olimpico to silence taunting fans on the road, he's been looking great for Santos in his early days there. Foster Gillett's failure to pay has stranded another player, now Valentín Gómez's transfer to Udinese in Italy has collapsed and he'll be going back to Vélez Sarsfield. The proposed relationship with Estudiantes is also on the verge of collapsing with Juan Sebastian Veron potentially leaving Argentina entirely to get more involved with The Miami FC of the USL Championship, where his son will be playing. More Espresso on Tuesday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.
Jimbo's got Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Julien Laurens and Rory Smith alongside him as the Champions League Knockout Round Play-offs get underway. We start with a look at some of the big ties across Tuesday and Wednesday including the small matter of Manchester City v Real Madrid - for the fourth season in a row in Europe! Elsewhere, there's the all-French affair between Brest and PSG, Celtic host Bayern Munich and Feyenoord v Milan just got a bit more interesting following the dismissal of Brian Priske… Domestically, in Spain the La Liga title race is the gift that keeps on giving with just two points separating Real, Atleti and Barcelona at the top of the table. That's after Carlo Ancelotti's side were held in a 1-1 draw by their Madrid rivals, allowing Barca to close the gap with a 4-1 victory over Sevilla. Over in Italy, it was a big Monday night in Milan as the Champions closed the gap to leaders Napoli to just one point after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina… just four nights after they'd played in Bergamot and la Viola had won 3-0 in a match that was rescheduled after the collapse of midfielder Edoardo Bove back in December. Napoli's lead at the top stands at one point as they were held by Udinese. In France, PSG continued their imperious Ligue 1 form with a 4-1 victory over Monaco, which included a first goal for the club for a certain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Distant chasers Marseille and Nice both registered wins of their own to keep up their Champions League charge in what's a very competitive chase for a top three spot. And in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich prepared for their trip to Glasgow with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, stretching their lead at the top of the table to eight points. That's because closest rivals Leverkusen let complacency creep in again as they were held to a goalless draw by Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, Dortmund have gone five home games without a win in the league - their worst run since 2006 - after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stuttgart. Produced by Lucy Oliva.
