After her residency, Dr. Shereef struggled with balancing three children, a husband, and the demanding life of a trauma surgeon. She tried academic medicine but was miserable. Finally, with the help of a couple of coaches and a reassessment of her life's priorities, she succeeded in finding a part-time position that allows her to practice surgery while offering quality time for her family and other interests.
