Today, we are joined by Hal Elrod. Hal Elrod is on a mission to elevate the consciousness of humanity, one person at a time. As an international keynote speaker, host of the popular Achieve Your Goals podcast, and author of one of the highest rated books in the world, The Miracle Morning, (which has over 6,000 five-star Amazon reviews and has sold over 2 million copies) he is doing exactly that. Hal actually died at age 20. His car was hit head on by a drunk driver at over 70 miles per hour, he died for 6 minutes, broke 11 bones, suffered permanent brain damage and was told by doctors that he would never walk again. Then, at age 37, he nearly died again when his heart, lungs, and kidneys were on the verge of failing, and he was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer. After being given a 30% chance of surviving, Hal once again defied seemingly insurmountable odds to beat cancer. He is grateful to be sharing his life with his wife and their two children, in Austin, Texas. Hal's miraculous journey is featured in his most recent project—The Miracle Morning movie—a documentary that shows you how to live to your full potential and highlights stories of ordinary people who are doing the extraordinary. In this episode, we discuss Hal's journey from financial despair during the 2008 economic crisis to life transformation through the Miracle Morning routine. Hal highlights his six powerful SAVERS practices—Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Scribing—that have empowered millions to achieve their potential. He also emphasizes personal development and intentional morning and evening routines as keys to success. February is gone, and March is kicking off, but we here at the Habit Thrive Podcast aren't finished caring for our emotional heart just yet! This week, on Episode #89, we are exploring our morning and evening rituals, habits, routines (or whatever you prefer to call them) that bring about a better night's sleep and easier flow to the days ahead. In the morning, cortisol helps us get up, melatonin switches to serotonin, our brain waves move from alpha to beta, and we transition from the subconscious to conscious mind. So, what part of your morning helps you embrace these changes in your body and mind? Yoga stretches first thing to get the blood flowing Coffee or tea while reading the paper An invigorating facial cleanse A dance party All of these - and any other activities or habits that get you ready for your day - can help fortify your whole self and prepare you for what's ahead. At night, the opposite occurs as the door closes to the day and our systems serenade us to bed. Our serotonin levels ramp back up, our brain waves move back to alpha, and we transition from conscious to subconscious mind. Your nighttime routine or ritual might include: A hot bath Applying soothing oils Candlelight Meditation Whatever relaxes your mind and body and gets you ready to let go into sleep. The goal is to “bookend” each day with rituals, habits and routines that are good for every part of your mind, your heart, your body and your emotional health. Practice what works for you, eliminate what doesn't, and build a set of routines that are not just life-changing, but life-saving! Lorrie xoxox Want to know your dosha? If you start your week or your day off full of focus, determination, and vigour but find it waning by the weekend or the evening, you are not alone. In this episode, we teach you a strategy to solve each of these issues by rethinking how you plan for and execute your time. Takeaways: Mentally breaking your day and week into smaller parts can make following through on your plans feel less overwhelming and exhausting. Setting aside time to review your goals as well as your objectives and compelling reasons can help refresh your intentions. Schedule a specific ritual (whether it’s a midweek goal-setting or after-work refresh) strategically for the time when you typically start to lose focus or resolve. Having a written record of your goals/objectives/whys can help provide a reminder when you need one. Lab Experiment: Option 1: On Wednesday night, set aside an hour to prepare yourself mentally and logistically for what you want to accomplish personally in the week to come (This would be a great time to listen to a podcast or read a book that inspires you to live your best life.). It can help to think of your “week” as a 2-day sprint, 2 days of rest and recovery, followed by a final 3-day sustainable effort. Write down your goals, intentions, and objectives. Option 2: At the end of the day (or before you make dinner), set aside 5 minutes to do some yoga, go for a quick walk or just sit and do some breathing or journaling exercises. Look at the list of goals and intentions, objectives you wrote down on Wednesday. Think about why these are important to you and what it would feel like to stay in alignment with those goals despite feeling tired, stress and fighting to find motivation.

In today’s episode, Jessica shares three of her favourite ways to manage energy.Managing our energy is vital, because we live in a quantum universe where we are all made of the same stuff: you, me, the animals, trees, the sky and ocean, the table I’m recording this on, the car you’re driving… and also our thoughts and our feelings.1>> Setting an Intention: Before you begin your day or a task, or head out somewhere, set an intention for the outcome. You are focusing on putting your energy on the outcome FIRST. The Universe doesn’t speak in negatives, so avoid “not be late” as the Universe only hears “be late”. 2 >> Cord Cutting: Ensure you're in a quiet place and close your eyes, deep belly breaths to ground self. When you’re ready, envision a cord connecting you to the other person and karate chop down my body.3 >> Releasing and Calling Back Energy: At the end of the day is much the same, deep breaths to slow yourself down ground you, and centre you. Envision a cup that is full of the energy that’s attached to you during the day that’s not yours, and send it back out until it’s empty. Then imagine it exploding (this is the completion). See another cup empty where you call your energy home to the cups fullness.Jessica also shares about Aligned and Empowered, the first opportunity to work closely in a group format for 6 weeks, learning how to step into Empowerment and change your stories and choose your thinking, as well as Aligning your beliefs and values with the way you want to live, love, parent and BE.Enjoy this episode, and don't forget to hit SUBSCRIBE so these episodes are in your podcast app every week! You can find me hanging out over on Instagram at www.instagram.com/heyjessicagray - share a screenshot of you listening to this episode and pop into my DM to say hello! Some couples enjoy sharing gratitudes, checking in on how they are feeling, or enjoying an evening walk together. Be creative to find something that works for the two of you. The hope is that morning and evening rituals encourage us to be present with one another. Dreamcatchers District Podcast - Mindset, Authentic Marketing, Coaching, Goals, Creative Entrepreneur, Online Business, Fear

Today on the Podcast: A Peek into How I Got My Time Back in 2017 If you’ve ever struggled with feeling drained, or maybe even defeated, by all the digital rabbit holes (Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and Pinterest and List Building and Sales Funnels and the million other Digital Marketing Strategies that you and I “should” be doing), then this is the episode for us both. Let's talk about something that’s been coming up within the Dreamcatchers District community over coaching, I’ve even seen it online over Instagram and definitely with my own colleagues, clients, and friends. And that is this feeling of bombardment; this craving for less. Less consumption, less distraction, less competition.   The Question We Gotta Ask Ourselves ... A few weeks ago, over Instagram, I posted some questions. I asked, "What's the #1 thing on your 'Stop Doing' list?" And, wouldn’t you know, nearly across the board, folks said some version of these two sentiments. They either said: 1) “I need to stop comparing myself” or 2) "I need to stop doubting myself." In another poll, where I asked, "Who needs a Digital Detox Retreat?" A whopping 83% of all-ya'll voted, "YAS! Unplug ME, Pleassse!" Clearly, there's a connection. Now, the answer is not to abandon all our strategic marketing efforts. Nor is it, necessarily, to have to getaway for a weekend detox planning retreat (but we'd love to have ya!). The invitation is  to get conscious. And to remember you get to choose how you engage with it all.   In this Episode We Talk About: • The 5 best biz decisions I made in 2017 • How I got my guilt-free time back • The link between comparison and self-doubt • Why we ALL need a Digital Detox Day (or Planning Retreat) • Why setting boundaries doesn't make you bad • How I kicked FOMO to the curve • The importance of separating "home" and "work" • What Ayurveda, Peak Performance, and Neuroscience say are the most important hours of the day • The questions to ask yourself before, during, and after going "online" Get Ready to Hear All The Behind-The-Scenes Stories & Insights.   Mentioned in this Podcast: • Follow Me:  Instagram • Quote: "It's not your job to like me, it's mine." ~ Byron Katie • Article: The Surprising Reason Millennials Check Their Phone 150 Times a Day • Look For Future Episodes: Topics on Morning and Evening Rituals coming up! • The Dreamcatchers District Creative Direction: For Your Beliefs and Business, Ask Me How   This is Not a Monologue, Chime In! It's actually the opposite.  Stuff we talk about: We talk about the benefits of having a routine or ritual. You are human. You make mistakes. You aren’t perfect and you certainly aren’t a machine. We all know this, and yet so many of us hold ourselves to idealized standards of very disciplined people with high willpower. In a perfect world, maybe we’d actually be like that. But the truth is that even after you design your ritual and test it out, eventually it will morph, lessen, or decay altogether. This is completely natural. We have to design for the maintenance of our rituals as much as the creation of them. In this flash wisdom episode, host Majo talks to us about the importance of self-compassion and shares three things that have helped her develop a “reset” mindset when rituals fall to the wayside.Show Notes:-Check out and pre-order the new ebook: The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals, shipping on December 8 – plenty of time to order as a Christmas gift! Rituals are growing, evolving things with their own stubborn intelligence. That’s why the same exact rituals are hard to sustain over time. Since we are constantly changing with the months, seasons, and our environments, it makes sense to allow our rituals to organically change along with us. This approach is not only more realistic, forgiving, and practical, but it honors our naturally changing feminine energy. Majo described in Part 4 how to design your morning and evening rituals after identifying actions that aligned with your deeper desires. Now it’s time to anticipate and even welcome change. In this flash wisdom episode, Majo shares three principles that will help you add flexibility and fluidity to your rituals in a way that honors your body’s natural rhythms.Show Notes:-Check out and pre-order the new ebook: The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals. Ready to design your morning and evening ritual? Even if you’re not, this flash wisdom episode will help you go through the motions to see what happens. In the last episode of this series we identified actions that align with your deeper desires. The next step is even simpler: sequencing these actions into a ritual. A ritual is simply a structure with intention, something we make sacred through our attention and love. They provide a way to elevate the mundane (taking a shower) into a magical experience. In this fifth episode of the Designing Rituals series, host Majo walks you through the ritual designing process, inviting you stay experimental as you explore what works best for you. Pleasure gets an interesting rep, don’t you think? Spiritual traditions all over the world have told us to “transcend” pleasure, or at the very least not get too attached to it. Our American culture built on puritanical principles makes us feel wary of anything that’s too pleasurable, or that comes through pleasure versus hard work. Layer on gender, and we have a whole other conversation about so many of us women (especially good girls) who feel guilty about experiencing pleasure. In this flash wisdom episode, Majo describes how our morning and evening rituals become the pleasurable bookends to our career work, revealing how pleasure and discipline aren’t mutually exclusive. Your biggest takeaway will be the three steps she outlines to help in designing rituals that are aligned with your deeper desires.Show Notes:***Heroine Live! event on 10/27 – RSVP & check out other perks at http://www.bit.ly/herpod-Check out and pre-order the new ebook: The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals (available at mariamolfino.com/rituals). Here’s the truth nobody ever told you: rituals are really hard to hold down. A lot of people like to pretend it’s a snap to set rituals into place. When we hear about the daily do’s of others (especially successful people of today) it can be inspiring, but it can also make you feel kind of shitty if you’re struggling to nail down your own. We all make mistakes in how we approach and think about rituals— from the time we set them to how we relate to them after we “fail.” In this flash wisdom episode (part 2 in the Designing Rituals series), our host Majo proposes a key shift in our orientation and relationship to rituals with a feminine approach that honors all that is fluid and cyclical, and in way that promotes self-compassion.-Check out and pre-order the new ebook: The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals (available at mariamolfino.com/rituals). Now that we’ve finished the Creative Confidence series, we’re launching a new flash wisdom series called The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals. In this first episode, our host makes the case for why you must fiercely protect your daily rituals as a creative woman. So why is it even important to have daily rituals? Think for a minute of all the stimulation we have at our fingertips day to day: our laptops, iPhone, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Netflix, YouTube, the list goes on and on. Engaging in these great tools and platforms hour upon hour makes our brains tired in this sneaky, unnoticeable way. Establishing a daily ritual is a beautiful, joyful way to remain rooted, stay sane, and keep life magical. Join Majo (formerly Maria, she explains more about the name change in the episode) for the introduction to her six-part series on rituals, and learn four big reasons to fiercely protect at least 5 minutes of space and time for yourself every day. Also check out and pre-order her new ebook: The Magical Effects of Morning and Evening Rituals (available at mariamolfino.com/rituals).
