Gail and Marie talk about how they came to live in Paris. Gail asks Marie questions on how to go about finding a place to live, and what questions to ask, whether you are already in Paris or not. They also discuss the pros and cons of finding an apartment on your own or going through an agency, when it's safe to pay in advance for an apartment sight-unseen, scams they have encountered, and the dangers of signing a lease in English. Jonglei State's Deputy Governor Antipas Nyok Kucha denied his involvement in the arrest of the 37 SPLM members in Jonglei State. Antipas Nyok is also accusing Bor Mayor Agoot Alier of leaving SPLM to take the position of Mayor from the South Sudan Opposition Alliance(SSOA).
SPLM in Jonglei State is rocked by crisis, and 37 people are detained and investigated for their role in the alleged petition against deputy Governor Antipas Nyok Kucha. It is reported that 37 people were arrested in Jonglei State, and all were accused of forgery and impersonation. Ateny Pech, who went to the police, told SBS Dinka that he only opened a defamation case against three people within the SPLMA, namely Mamer Ruk, Deng Ajak and Anyieth Makuei, for allegedly putting his names in a petition without his consent.
Former Commissioner of Bor County Mamer Ruk is among the 37 people arrested and accused of defamation in Jonglei State. Mamer and other former politicians told SBS Dinka that he and many others are victims of the political wrangling within the SPLM secretariat in Bor town. This exclusive interview was conducted while Mamer and his colleagues were at the police station in Bor.
Hon Mayiik Chom Juk is a former soldier in the Sudanese People Liberation Army and claimed to be the person who designed the original SPLM flag in 1985. Mayiik was the MP during the 32 states, said he sketched the first flag on the ground at the training centre in Ethiopia. Here is the exclusive interview on SBS Dinka this morning.
The South Sudan Aviation Authority is investigating a plane crash in Jonglei State that killed ten people, including two crew members; South Sudan's peace partners blame the SPLM ruling party for its failure to implement the revitalized peace agreement; and South Sudan's wildlife ministry says armed conflicts and inter-communal fighting have hindered authorities from gaining access to national game parks and reserves.
Thousands of Sudanese protesters call on the government to implement the promises that were made during the transitional period; spiritual leaders and the ruling SPLM party engage in a land dispute around a church compound in Juba; and Warrap Town residents say they live in fear due to insecurity in the area.
Senior members defect the SPLM-IO to join the SPLM faction led by President Salva Kiir; Human Rights Watch calls for the release of South Sudanese detainees to ease overcrowded prisons during the coronavirus pandemic; and a COVID-19 survivor recovering in the United States advises South Sudanese to take precautions against the disease.
(Audio in Dinka) South Sudanese are still waiting for the announcement of Cabinet, but there is a looming humanitarian crisis in Murle land as many civilians are displaced. The fighting between the Lou Nuer and Murle has forced civilians to escape for safety in Ethiopia and Bor. Fangak former Governor James Kok and Former Ambassador to Russia Telar Deng defected from SPLM IG to SPLM IO.
A long-time ruling SPLM party member resigned today. Wol Atak told President Salva Kiir he did not want to be associated with a party that brought conflict and suffering to the South Sudanese people. Activists call on President Kiir to commute the death sentence of a teenager who accidentally killed his cousin years ago.

Yasir Arman is leading Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), a politico-military movement advocating for a just, democratic and secular Sudan. Arman joined SPLM in 1986 and has spent virtually his whole adult life fighting for a Sudan for all Sudanese irrespective of their ethnicity, race or religion. Some say it’s the most forgotten of all forgotten conflicts. Blue Nile and South Kordofan, the areas that were left out when South Sudan gained independence, are in their 6th year of civil war with the Sudanese regime in Khartoum. Every day, civilians are subjected to the government’s aerial bombardments, terrorizing the civilians and forcing hundreds of thousands to flee. The people are suffering severe hunger, and aid organizations are not allowed access by the Sudanese regime. The humanitarian situation in the areas of South Kordofan (Nuba Mountains), South Blue Nile and Darfur is as bad as in Syria, Iraq and South Sudan. Still, the conflict is often overseen by journalists, diplomats and the international community. The event was hosted by the Norwegian People's Aid- Norsk Folkehjelp, Støttegruppe for Sudan og Sør-Sudan (SFS), Fellesrådet for Afrika - Norwegian Council for Africa, the Oslo Center, and documentary film festival Human Rights Human Wrongs.
Two of South Sudan's warring factions have signed a peace agreement in the Ethiopian Capital Addis Ababa, hours before the expiry of a deadline for them to do so. Lead mediator Seyoum Mesfin says only the rebels and the SPLM, part of South Sudan's opposition signed the agreement. The government declined to sign, citing reservations to some of the clauses, but said it would sign in the next 15 days. South Sudan's civil war, which began in 2013, is estimated to have cost between 50-thousand and 100-thousand lives, including many civilians.
South Sudan's former Vice President Reich Machar has called for president Salva Kiir to resign in July when his term comes to an end. Machar has been in the bush since 2013 when violence erupted. Kiir had accused Machar of planning a coup - a charge Machar has denied. His call comes as the African Union heads of state summit decided on a new peace process that will include all of the continent's regional blocks. South Africa will also be part of the mediation efforts. Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa was already part of the mediation efforts within the ruling SPLM party. More than a million people have been displaced by the civil war. Deputy Political Editor Mahlatse Gallens spoke to Reich Machar and joins us in the studio...
