Hello to the Huble Cremshaws out there!! Val is in high spirits because of the happiest percussive clap! She then goes on to list the reasons why standup has ruined her social life, send an invitation/challenge to her listeners to prepare a VERY specific dinner party for her, "Step In Time" from Mary Poppins, "That Thing You Do", her borrowed Ninja Turltes 'graphic novel', doing standup in less than ideal circumstances and a neat trick to overcome ambient chatter, the very very very offensive and upsetting dance-by-instruction thing that happens at dance parties sometimes, then she goes off on the "Cha-Cha Slide".

Jacob Steen has commenced a very exciting time in a performer's career. He is making his professional debut in the musical Mary Poppins; now touring around Australia, presented by Disney, Cameron Mackintosh and Michael Cassel. An exciting and joyous time indeed, but one that presents its share of challenge, discovery and discipline. Jacob is keen to share his experience thus far and provide insight for the novice performer ‘waiting in the wings' and the audience who are fascinated by the theatre and the backstage of showbiz. Jacob completed first year of the Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts, prior to the opportunity to join Mary Poppins. He has trained in Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Acro, Musical Theatre and Contemporary under Renie Ann Martini OAM at the May Downs School of Dance from 2016 until 2020. His training begun with jazz and tap under Jodie Greenwood at Upstage Dance Academy. Jacob has been a proud member of Actor's Equity since 2022. It is indeed a recent professional debut and STAGES is delighted to welcome Jacob onto STAGES and applaud his new adventure ‘on the boards!' The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Spotify and Apple podcasts. Or from wherever you access your favourite podcasts. A conversation with creatives about craft and career. Step In Time to the podcast that puts the Plus in Disney Plus, Talking The Mickey. This week, Ellie's choice, brings us to Edwardian England and the 'Age of Men' (at least according to Mr. Banks), in Mary Poppins. Ellie, Georgia, Ethan, and Ian discuss the turbulent relationship between P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney company, consider which characters may be sociopathic, learn about a tapestry of casting considerations, and debate the quality (and difficulty) of some of the accents in the only Disney film to be nominated for Best Picture in Walt's lifetime. Throw on some Disney Plus, and catch up on some great Disney content and then join the conversation on Twitter (@talkthemickey) or Instagram (@talkingthemickey).

We're stepping back in time to talk PETE'S DRAGON (1977) with Anthony Fox (MousePire Podcast). Along the way we compare and contrast with 2016's PETE'S DRAGON and marvel at what made it past the censors in the 1970's. Several listeners wrote in with their comments and memories of the film. Fun Fact: Jim Dale (who plays Dr. Terminus) reads all the Harry Potter U.S. versions of the audio books and he is incredible. Lends new credibility to the Dr. Terminus of PETE'S DRAGON. If you've never seen it or haven't watched in awhile, here's a plot refresher: Pete is a nine-year-old orphan who escaped from his brutal adoptive parents, and now wanders the New England coast with his only friend - a cartoon dragon named Elliott. They find a new home in Passamaquoddy, Maine, and live with Nora, a lighthouse keeper, and her father, Lampie. All is not well in this little fishing town when the shady Dr. Terminus shows up and wants to cut Elliott up and sell for medicinal purposes. And non-stop hilarity ensues! STEP IN TIME: Remembering Disney's Matinee Movies is a spin-off show where we look back at the Disney live-action films of yesteryear. Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee! That can only mean one thing… it's time for BEDKNOBS AND BROOMSTICKS! The spell has been cast and Teresa Delgado of Fangirls Going Rogue and Disney Vault Talk joins us to talk about this much-loved 1971 film. Sherman Brother's music, animation meeting live-action and some glorious 1970's revolutionary effects make this film an instant classic. Sarah and Teresa grew up with Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Richard is now the newbie, just watching it for the very first time. If you've never seen it or haven't watched in awhile, here's a plot refresher: During the Battle of Britain in 1940, Miss Eglantine Price (played by future Mrs. Potts - Angela Lansbury), a cunning witch-in-training, wants to help the war efforts and use her supernatural powers to defeat the pending Nazi invasion. Miss Price sets out to accomplish this task with the aid of three orphaned children who have been evacuated from the London Blitz. However they need the last spell from magician/steet performer/Witch school sheister Emelius Brown (played by David Tomlinson who is best known as Mr. Banks from Mary Poppins). Together, the crew uses an enchanted flying bed to find the missing spell and foil encroaching German troops. STEP IN TIME: Remembering Disney’s Matinee Movies is back and this time we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1975 classic film - Walt Disney’s THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG! J oining us on this journey to the old west are special guests Steve Glosson and Teresa Delgado of Disney Vault Talk. They bring their brand of fun and fond memories to the conversation while Richard reminisces about his first childhood crush, Celia (Stacy Manning), and Sarah watches the film for the first time in her life. For anyone else who has not seen this film yet or hasn’t seen it in a while, here is a refresher on THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG. Bill Bixby (The Incredible Hulk) plays Russell Donovan, a slick gambler duped into taking care of a trio of mischievous orphans named Bobby, Cloves and Celia. Meanwhile, outlaw wanna-be’s Tim Conway (The Carol Burnett Show) and Don Knotts (Andy Griffith Show, The Incredible Mr. Limpet) are out to rob anyone they think has anything worth stealing. Set in the Old West during The California Gold Rush, it’s a fun ride. The children miraculously strike it rich, but that’s when bad guys come out of the woodwork to steal the gold. It’s up to The Apple Dumpling Gang to keep it, and their home with Russell Donovan, safe and sound. Hilarity ensues, and so does our conversation. Exactly how does a show roll from The Apple Dumpling Gang into the 80’s sex-romp comedy, Porkey’s? Let’s get together and Step In Time with The Parent Trap and our special Co-Host, Margaret Kerry! The animator’s reference model for Tinker Bell flew in to sprinkle some pixie dust on our conversation. She has met and worked with a few members of the cast, so Margaret Kerry’s insight is especially intriguing! It’s 1961, and Hayley Mills is the newest Disney darling. She’s perfect for the role of teenage twins, Sharon and Susie, who are reunited at summer camp after never knowing the other one even existed. After discovering their family connection, they seek out a way to get their divorced parents (played by Maureen O’Hara and Brian Keith) back together. Non-stop hilarity ensues!
