Happy Holiday Season-- which is to say: happy busy season! We're all out there bustling around like busy bees but remember to take time for some Zzzs and self-care! In December I take a break from regular full episodes in which I uncork with new guests. This week I offer up a mini-sode musing about the importance of supporting the arts. I am shining the spotlight on music, in particular, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic who is having their holiday shows this weekend in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. I heard from a friendly elf that there might even be a visitor from the North Pole! Tune in to hear a special invitation to attend these upcoming shows from the Philharmonic's very own conductor Melisse Brunet and Chason Goldschmitz, who will formally assume the role of executive director of the Philharmonic on Jan. 1, 2025 as Nancy Sanderson steps down from this position. Goldschmitz joins the NEPA Philharmonic from the office of world-renowned soprano Renée Fleming, where he served as Director of Production, Music, and Arts & Health. In this role, he produced and supervised logistics for concerts, large-scale summits, and other public events, and served as producer and production engineer for Ms. Fleming's multimedia events, including “Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene” performances in collaboration with National Geographic. Goldschmitz also coordinated arts and health research, policy, and funding initiatives on behalf of the Renée Fleming Foundation, in partnership with a diverse array of governmental partners and performing arts, healthcare, education, and community organizations — including the Kennedy Center, LA Opera, Johns Hopkins University, the Aspen Institute, Los Angeles County, the National Institutes of Health, and the World Health Organization. There are indications that this holiday season will be far from a happy one for many small businesses. With Australians feeling the pinch from inflation and rising living costs, Deloitte's 2024 Holiday Period Survey reveals a tightening of consumer spending, with 90% of consumers planning to stay home and cut back on holiday shopping. Deloitte Partner Elise Shapley shares her insights from the survey around the importance of offering value, enhancing in-store experiences, and building trust. She also highlights how flash sale events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday can help businesses make the most of a difficult economic climate. In what is likely to be our final Super-Spiked for 2023, we provide a 2024 preview with the theme of “phasing-in profitable growth.” In the prior two Super-Spiked posts, we have discussed key takeaways from 2023, including ROCE resilience for traditional energy, the significant pressure facing many new energies business models, the massive total addressable market (TAM) for global energy demand, especially given the significant unmet energy needs of the other 7 (soon to be 9) billion people on Earth, and the ongoing “Super Vol” macro backdrop. For traditional energy in 2024, we believe leading companies will be able to articulate and demonstrate what their unique value proposition is. ROCE improvement in and of itself is not enough; there is a need to demonstrate long-term profitability resilience and articulate a positive equity story. For new energies, the questions are more around figuring out which new businesses will scale excluding subsidies. When we look at the massive energy TAM and take into account the desire among developing countries to have geopolitically secure energy sources, there is a major role for new energies to play, even before also taking into account environmental objectives. Sorting through the rubble of this year's sell-off, or considering new opportunities, will be the focus. As 2023 winds down, we would like to wish all Super-Spiked subscribers a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year, and Happy Holiday Season! We will see you early in 2024.

Here's the final LoL "Friday Short" for 2023! What's up Bro's?! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holiday Season overall. We are back with another Mega episode... Three shows in one. Whitney and Justin go on Meredith's podcast and it seems that both her marriage and Angie's marriage are not in the best spot this episode. HELLO CYBERSPACE!! Oh how I've missed you!! In the spirit of the Holiday Season I'm ending my 2 month recording hiatus with a serious shot of GRATITUDE!! Reason being? While in Colorado this past October, I finally got the opportunity, AND more importantly the nerve, to interview my dear friend Alex Mintling, creator & host of The Builder's Journey podcast. Among many other things he is also the guy who inspired me to start my own podcast :) In this episode we touch on each topic of Life, Love, Music & Space Travel ;) This being my 1st ever interview episode, I'm super stoked to highlight someone who has been an intrical part of my getting through these past very challenging few years, along with inspiring me in more ways than I can count. He makes me laugh... He's made me cry... He makes me mad... He's brought me great joy :) I imagine he may do the same to you ;) I've been on his podcast numerous times, and it's long overdue that I have him on mine! You'll hear quite a bit of laughter which I hope makes YOU laugh as well! You'll get an introduction to Mooshie, the crazy cat who did his best to steal the show with his dastardly distractions. But MOST importantly you'll get a peek into the mind of Mr. Mintling! Join us for a bit of seriousness and LOT'S of laughter :) Happy Holiday Season to you and yours! **DISCLAIMER: Please take note that any references to ketamine infusions or any other form of medicinal treatments, mainstream or non mainstream, are strictly meant to provide an insight into my own experiences. We've all heard the phrase “it's the most wonderful time of the year.” But is it true? Not for some of us. That's why Pastor Greg Laurie's offering us a Christian perspective on how to make this holiday season a joyful one. Don't miss this valuable, encouraging message. Notes There are more than 2,700 passages in the Bible containing words such as joy, happiness, pleasure, laughter, gladness, feasting, and celebration. God Himself is happy. Jesus said, “I have told you this to make you as completely happy as I am.” 1. Remember the reason for the season. Christmas is the celebration of the happiest message of all time. The only real happiness you will find is in Christ, not in Christmas but in Christ, not in merriment but in the Messiah. “God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself because it is not there. There is no such thing.” —C. S. Lewis 2. If you want a happy holiday, spend time with loved ones. There is power when God's people pray with each other. 3. If you want a happy holiday, be grateful for what you have. “In everything, give thanks for this is the Will of God in Christ Jesus.” —1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” —Psalm 106:1 It is very easy to only want to give thanks when we feel like it; but according to Scripture, it is something the believer is to do regardless of circumstances. The Two Most Important Moments in a Person's Life: When they are born and when they realize what they are born for. 4. Focus on giving instead of receiving this Christmas. “It is more blessed to give than it is to receive.” —Acts 20:35 “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” —Proverbs 11:25 We give God our treasure. We give God our talent. We give God our time. Every morning, God deposits into your bank of time 86,400 seconds or 1,440 minutes, equaling 24 hours. Jesus' summary of it all was, “Real life is not measured by how much we own; it is measured by who we know and what we do with our lives.” Remember the reason for the season. Spend time with loved ones. Be grateful for what you have. Focus on giving instead of receiving this Christmas. It's not presents under a tree, but His presence in your life.
