Well, here I am again! I'm roughly 20-ish weeks out of back surgery updating you again. WHY? Well, I really want to give you all the details of the FULL recovery…the good, the bag, the ugly and everything in between. It's been a road if I do say so myself. It's kind of like life, ya know, things are going all good and then one day…BAM!! The shit hits the fan. In my world, I've learned it's all about how you handle it. Can I just say that sometimes, I don't handle it all that well when it hits BUT I DO make it through. Ya know, a few cuss words here and there and then I push forward…which is EXACTLY what I did last week. YEP, the shit hit the fan and I lost it!! Let's talk about what happened. Shall we?
It's episode 387 and should we pause?? We might be having some technical difficulties but that also might be next week's episode, we're not sure because we're releasing episodes out of order! This week Em covers something in Christine's neck of the woods in the story of the Old Licking County Jail. Then Christine gives us a sneak peek into the new book with the stories of the murders (and a bonus ghost) from the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis. And how the fuck does anyone get a turtle? Not like judgement wise, just logistically, we don't even know how to call the city... and that's why we drink!Don't miss our brand new tour, with a brand new ghost hunt, coming to a city near you this fall! andthatswhywedrink.com/live

Amanda and Melissa reflect on the making of this podcast and their subsequent warm and fuzzy friendship as they hit their sixth season finale and 120th episode. This has been a really great run-on sentence. Melissa and Amanda also answer listeners' unresolved questions from previous episodes. *CONFETTI* A little post-script to say rest in power to the legend DJ Casper, creator of the iconic Cha Cha Slide. He passed this week and we found out while editing the episode, looking for the sound clip we included here. That song is a gift. Timothy Olyphant has been a regular presence on various TV shows every single year dating back to Damages in 2009, before the original Justified. And yet, it feels significant that he's in no less than three new series this year. The Nose already covered the first, Daisy Jones & the Six. This week, we catch up with the other two: Full Circle is a Max Original limited series written and created by Ed Solomon and photographed, edited, and directed by Steven Soderbergh. Here's Warner Bros.'s logline: “An investigation into a botched kidnapping uncovers long-held secrets connecting multiple characters and cultures in present day New York City.” It stars an ensemble cast that includes Zazie Beetz, Claire Danes, Jim Gaffigan, Timothy Olyphant, CCH Pounder, and Dennis Quaid. And: Justified: City Primeval is an FX limited series continuation of Justified, which ended in 2015 after six seasons and 78 episodes. It is based on the Elmore Leonard novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroitand short story “Fire in the Hole.” Olyphant reprises his role as U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens. Some other stuff that happened this week, give or take: William Friedkin, Acclaimed Director of ‘The French Connection' and ‘The Exorcist,' Dies at 87 The Oscar winner “never played by the rules, often to my own detriment,” he said. Robbie Robertson, Leader of The Band, Dies at 80 Arthur Schmidt, Oscar-Winning ‘Forrest Gump' and ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit' Film Editor, Dies at 86 DJ Casper, artist behind ‘Cha Cha Slide,' has died McDonald's New Meal Celebrates Its Pop Culture Cameos—Including ‘Loki,' ‘Seinfeld' and MoreThe As Featured In Meal is tied to the upcoming season of Loki and celebrates the chain's past pop culture cameos The Forgotten Former Meaning of “Jerk” The curious pop culture etymology of “jerk,” from 1979's ‘The Jerk' through today. Ever wondered how the world of hip hop music connects to the essence of being unapologetically black? That's where PJ, Blair and Red, come in. We're here to navigate you through a journey, from personal anecdotes about our week to paying tribute to the late DJ Casper, creator of the Cha Cha Slide, and even discussing the recent Twitter logo change. You see, this isn't just about us, it's about the Melanated community. We talk about the recent dock brawl in Alabama, exploring how conflict can bring about unity and solidarity. Then we're back to the music, looking at how hip hop music, from artists like Eric B and Public Enemy, has been a melting pot of creative expression and freedom. We take you through our earliest memories of hip-hop and its diverse influences, and even discuss how authenticity within the genre impacts an artist's respect and credibility. But wait, there's more. We scrutinize the importance of the black internet and its power in creating its own universe of memes and t-shirts. Plus, we reflect on the power of black joy in music and how it's a source of resilience and strength. And as we wrap up, we invite you all to join the discussion on Twitter about where hip hop begins and ends. So, are you ready for an episode filled with joy, unity, and nostalgia?
