In this episode:Mike and Ed discuss the police decision to declare Tony Stark missing and Iron Man as a suspect. Did Iron Man kill Tony Stark? Why is Iron Man still in charge of StarkCorp. while he is under investigation? Why hasn't the board of directors already acted, and how will they respond when they do? Is this the most exciting story since the founding of the Fantastic Four? Also: Pepper Potts, Tony Stark's secretary, has been kidnapped by a masked villain using a bow and specialty explosive arrows. Is it all related as part of a conspiracy? Or is it just a distraction from the bigger issue of Mr. Stark's disappearance?Behind the comic:Most Marvel comics at this time were monthly, in theory (X-Men was bi-monthly). But in practice the comics came out whenever the artists completed their work. This meant that Spider-Man comics were often delayed (Ditko started delivering in a more timely manner in 1965), it also meant that some of the storylines got a little mixed up. There WERE a number of issues released between Tales of Suspense #59 and #60 (Tales to Astonish #61, Fantastic Four #33, Journey Into Mystery #11, and Strange Tales #127) but, coincidentally, none of those issues had any publicly visible events. So from a Super Serious perspective it means Part 2 of this Iron Man drama follows immediately after Part 1. In the real world Part 3 does not come out until January 1965, but from a comic book continuity perspective it happens BEFORE Avengers #11 (which was on newsstands the same day as this issue), so we will cover in our next episode. In this issue:Tony Stark is frustrated because he feels he needs to wear his armour all the time, lest his fragile heart stop. This means as well that he has to remain Iron Man at all times and tell his closest friends that Tony Stark is away on a secret business matter. His friends call the police, who interrogate Iron Man, who draws suspicion and flees under a hail of bullets from the cops. Meanwhile, Hawkeye is convinced by the Black Widow to raid StarkCorp.‘s factory to steal plans for its newest weapons. Hawkeye kidnaps Tony Starks's assistant Pepper Potts. This draws Iron Man back to rescue Pepper, whereupon he battles Hawkeye, chasing him off.Assumed before the next episode:StarkCorp.'s share price keeps going up and down on the uncertainties involving its founder and Iron Man.This episode takes place:After Pepper Potts has been rescued. 2021 was not a complete bust. There are really good things that we can rejoice about. Two police officers identify police bias in Texas, Yes, There Were 10 Good Things About 2021. It was, indeed, a disastrous year, but we do have some reasons to cheer. This year, 2021, began with a huge sense of relief as Trump left office. We hoped to emerge from the ravages of COVID, pass a hefty Build Back Better (BBB) bill, and make significant cuts to the Pentagon budget. But, alas, we faced a January 6 white nationalist insurrection, two new COVID mutations, a sliced-and-diced BBB bill that didn't pass, and a Pentagon budget that actually INCREASED! It was, indeed, a disastrous year, but we do have some reasons to cheer: Police bias explained by two retired Texas police officers: Jeff Reese, former President of the Houston Peace and Justice Center and former Harris County officer and Shelby Stewart, former Houston Police Sargeant and activist visited with Politics Done Right. They were here to discuss police bias against people of color (POC). Here is the message to my listener who said: “I have all but given up on humanity: I got an email from a supporter that almost broke my heart. I immediately came to my senses. Guests David Oakley and Jessica Sinclair join hosts Letty Butler and Stephen Mellor in a podcast with a difference, for writers and readers alike. In this episode, Letty hosts, and David, Jess and Stephen respond live, against the clock, to a series of writing prompts, as well as discussing the highs and lows and challenges of being a writer, where inspiration strikes and what the future holds. The prompts were taken from The Writers Toolbox, by Jamie Cat Callan, and were: 200 words on the pre-prepared prompt of ‘There Were 17 Cats in Larry's Basement.' They then have three minutes to respond to ‘I Decided The Only Solution Was to Seduce Him,' and one minute to respond to ‘A Half-Eaten Tangerine.' More info about the hosts and guests can be found at www.prompetyprompt.com, including highlights from the prompts, or by following the links for Letty Butler, Stephen Mellor, Jess Sinclair, and David Oakley. Download Lamentations 1-2 We are in the Prophetic Stream reading from the New International Readers Version. 7streamsmethod.com | @7StreamsMethod | @serenatravis | #7Streams | Donate Commentary by Dr. Drake Travis Lord, remind us that you are very near to the brokenhearted. May we also be of your heart and be people who comfort the disturbed and the suffering. Amen This really is the epilogue or a continuation of the Book of Jeremiah (who wrote Lamentations). Jeremiah could not have been more heartbroken as he sat in the ashes of his beloved city that had had its fingers in its ears; refusing to listen to God for centuries. He wrote Lamentations after the dust had cleared and its residents had been led away in shackles to exile in Babylon. The 70 A.D. translation of the Bible actually adds an introduction to Lamentations that reads, "And it came to pass, after Israel was led into captivity and Jerusalem was laid waste, that Jeremiah sat weeping and lamented this lamentation over Jerusalem and said": ... (and chptr. 1 commences) 1 - This starts the doleful ballad - the city is empty. The distant crying of just a few poor people left in Jerusalem is all that is heard. Virtually "everyone" living is gone. The siege has been horrible, the place is in ruins, still smoking from being burnt, it is desolate. And Jeremiah is not wailing "whyyyy God, whyyy?" --- because he knows why. Jeremiah had tried his entire adult life to turn Jerusalem from her rampant sinning, and to no avail. He knew this judgment; this dismal situation would be coming, but it didn't make its arrival any easier to bear. He is stunned, dazed, the "chest pain" (as we might call it) was gnawing at him desperately. There was no consoling Jeremiah as he sat in this city that looked destined to be an archaeological dig for historians - that's how it looked at this point to Jeremiah's eyes. He may have known better but that doesn't change his feelings as he saw the last of the Judeans marched out at the tip of Babylonian spears and disappear. 2 - Remember getting punished as a child? Soon after that, the rump is stinging like a fleet of hornets just swooped in and stung, then comes "the talk" from parents who have been dismayed - even angry that your behavior led to this paddling. Well, Lamentations ch. 2 is ... you guessed it; it's "the talk!" God has been angry with them. They were ebullient, calloused, disobedient and worse; diabolical, sadistic, and thirsty for darkness. And lest anyone feel pathetic sympathy for this situation remember that Jerusalem spent decades and decades sacrificing young Jewish children on altars of fire like the Satanic cult Molech was doing in the neighboring countries! They made voodoo witchdoctors look like dizzy kids in the school yard. This judgment had to happen; the faith needed to be rectified or Judaism would have ended and Christianity would not have been birthed. It's a sad day in Jerusalem as the desolate remnant are covered in ashes and children are starving. Generations of liars had been their guides and this is where it led them. Did it have to come to this? God had warned them so much that they were sick of being warned and had jeered at the prophets. What was God to do but punish? There WERE no other options but to bring it to this chaotic state, where Jerusalem looked like a warzone in a battle did not go well, and there was cannibalism. It's quadruple bad folks! It does resolve a bit in ch. 3 next week, but for now the attentive can almost hear God saying (from beyond a cloud) "are you weary of your disobedience yet, like I am?!"
There was only one Keister on Almost Live. One Conway, one Nye, one Nelson, Wilson, Wyatt and Stainton. McHale was the only one with a prefix (Mc). There WERE two Guppys - Nancy and Joe - but they were married to one another so that doesn't count. But the show's two different Shafers were unconnected, unrelated and unalike. Scott Schaefer - unlike the show's original host, Ross Shafer - was also a key member of the show nearly from the start. A native of Seattle, Scott came to the program with clever ideas, some sharp writing and actual TV production knowledge. On a start-up local comedy show without a real precedent or blue-print, he was a big part of shaping its viewpoint, attitude and production approach. Today, Scott runs the award-winning local news business - South King Media - covering the happenings in local towns from Sea-Tac to White Center to Burien. He also runs the hyper-local website I Love Kent - the very town that became Almost Live's number one punchline. In 2020, Scott was named Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce's Corporate Citizen of the Year - yet another example of Almost Live being an unlikely springboard to eventual respectability. Living now in Burien with his wife Theresa, her mom, two nearly-grown kids, a couple of chihuahuas, two cats and a lizard... let's snag a conversation with Scott Schaefer...
THERE WERE three great rebellions against God in early human history. Most Christians only know about one. Tyler Gilreath, pastor of Gulf Shores Church of Christ, joins us to discuss his new book Gospel Over Gods: Jesus Christ, the Fallen Angels, and the Supernatural War of the Bible. He explains why we can't fully understand spiritual warfare unless we understand the impact of the sons of God from Genesis 6 and the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1–9), and why missing that context can lead Christians to abandon the faith. Also: YouTube deleted SkyWatchTV's account this past Thursday. Apparently, the most recent broadcast about Josh Peck's award-winning documentary Silent Cry, which exposes the evils of child sex trafficking, was considered "harassment, threats, and cyberbullying." Beyond the Paint with Bernadine is adding new monthly episodes centered on a book I am writing. Writing is the vehicle I want to use to bring into my reader, the ways art has transported me and shaped me into the woman I want to be and into the life I want to live. Experiencing art is my spiritual and intellectual practice of feeling and being alive. My hope is for you to be open to the ways art can shape and bring meaning to your life..The excerpt I share in this episode is from the chapter, "Before the Women, There Were the Men." It highlights the works of contemporary painter Sean Scully, his "Land Line" paintings and the work "Opulent Ascension" at Venice Bienale (2019) at the Church San Giorgio Maggiore. .Visit my website www.beyondthepaint.net to see all the images discussed. I SAW A FACEBOOK POST ABOUT WOMEN BEING TOLD THEY’RE TOO OLD TO BE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. see below. THERE WERE 91 COMMENTS. I INVITED THE WOMEN TO COME TALK ABOUT IT IN PERSON. THIS IS THE FIRST PANEL DISCUSSION ON THE WILDE MUSICIANS PODCAST. The post that inspired it all:“Hey ladies. I had a guy say something to me about how I’m “older” after my gig yesterday. He seemed a bit off so I know I shouldn’t take it personally but his comment really just wiggled into my brain and has been bugging me ever since. I’ve been singing my whole life, in choirs then singing backing vocals in a band starting in 2009, but I didn’t really start throwing myself into writing songs and making my own music until 2013 when I was 31. So much of what we see in movies, on tv and in pop culture are geared toward perfection, flawlessness and youth, particularly in entertainment. I honestly don’t know of that many women musicians, aside from Sharon Jones, who were successful at an older age. What I’m looking for with this post are for your recommendations of Womxn artists that you all as a creative mind hive can recommend to look to as inspirational and motivating heroes. I’m looking for role models. This creative and musical journey is challenging enough without having the “you’re too old” factor thrown in your face. Who are some of your pioneering women musical heroes?” — Post from Tekla Waterfield in the Womxn in Music Private Facebook Group on Sept 12, 2019 PANEL MEMBERS Cha Wilde: https://chawilde.com Tekla Waterfield: https://www.teklawaterfield.com/ Katrina Kope: https://www.katrinakope.com/ Jen Ayers: https://www.jenayersmusic.com/ Julia Francis: https://www.facebook.com/juliafrancismusic/ Sue Quigley: http://www.suequigley.com/ Aimee Zoe: https://www.aimeezoe.com/ Jennifer Richardson: https://www.facebook.com/wishmission/ Kristin Chambers: https://www.kristinchambers.com/ Michelle Searle: https://www.facebook.com/michellesearlesings ❤ more CHA WILDE: WEBSITE: https://chawilde.com INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/chawilde FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/chawilde/ SPOTIFY: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0zwsrpWYJ7ZFraivcuPHv1 ITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/cha-wilde/1445766935 YOUTUBE SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/dashboard?o=U

There WERE topics scheduled for Episode 59. There WERE points we wanted to make. There WERE reasons we wanted to discuss these things. But instead, Brad, Mike and Craig got together, killed a 30-rack of Miller Lite, and babbled about Bill Cosby, PBS, Rhode Island's sex problem, Weight Watchers and much more. Mike also said "Hey, hey, hey" 41 times out of the 42 things he said on the episode. The second half of the show will make you swear off drinking forever (at least a few nights)... Laurel Sprengelmeyer lives in Montreal, she's a visual artist, producer and musician and when she's making music, she's Little Scream. We tell each other ghost stories. For real. It's also the theme of her podcast (soon to be released) and she's going to kill it, like she kills at EVERY DAMN THING SHE DOES because she's amazing. Every little girl needs to be introduced to Laurel. I didn't have a lot of heros growing up and I've talked about it in my show before, there was no woman out there doing what I wanted (read: There WERE, there SUPER FREAKING WERE but there was no way for me to see/hear/experience their incredible talent and see firsthand how I was going to be able to pursue my creative passions to their fulfillment, there was no internet, there was little to no media coverage of women doing anything but starring in tampon ads and hawking mom jeans) and she is living proof not giving a hot damn what people think is an excellent fuel for creativity. She has worked with The National (part of Riverfest 2018!!), Barr Brothers, Saltband and countless others as well. Please go and check her out at www.littlescream.com and follow her on Twitter @littlescream - I'll see you there. Follow me too if you aren't already, I love people!! @stories_podcast and no, I don't have a Facebook page and I make no apologies for that. Love you though, Paula
