FC Dallas has departed the United States as they work in preseason in Algarves, Portugal. Ryan Figert is there with the team while Garrett Melcer and Steve Davis hold down the fort in Dallas. Ryan gives us an update on the first couple of training sessions in Europe, including a pair of players who have stood out. So your three bartenders weren't able to assembly even virtually this week for our usual format—John is away on a clandestine mission stalking the elusive McRib, while Steve and Lucretia are also laregly indisposed. But fear not! We decided that in lieu of our usual snappy brickbats, we'd share with our insatiable fans the talks we gave a couple weeks back at the University of Florence about the American election. It was great fun and the student questions were great, but we're just offering here our introductory remarks. This a short episode—barely over 20 minutes. But never fear: we plan to be back with our usual format mid week, probably Wednesday or Thursday.

In this compelling Q&A episode of **"It's the Bottom Line That Matters"**, host Jennifer Glass is joined by business experts Patricia Reszetylo and Daniel McCraine to address a host of listener-submitted questions aimed at ensuring a successful Q4 and an even better start to the new year. The episode kicks off with a detailed discussion on networking strategies, dissecting why some individuals fail to gain traction despite attending numerous events. Daniel emphasizes the significance of follow-ups, noting that the true potential of networking materializes in post-event interactions. The dialogue also touches on realistic expectations and the need for persistence, with Patricia and Daniel sharing anecdotes that highlight the long-term nature of relationship-building. The conversation then transitions to the intricacies of purchasing a business. Daniel, drawing from his experience as a business broker, helps unravel the complexities involved in buying an existing business. This segment covers essential due diligence steps, from assessing financial viability to understanding customer retention risks, and explores effective strategies for managing ownership transitions. Listeners get practical advice on the importance of personal introductions and continuity in customer relationships. Additionally, the episode offers a thorough exploration of pricing strategies tailored to both product-based and service-oriented businesses. Jennifer, along with Daniel and Patricia, demystify the concept of price elasticity, elucidating how businesses can find the optimal price point that aligns with market expectations while still delivering value. They caution against the dangers of underpricing and provide concrete examples of how proper pricing can significantly impact business growth. The enrichment doesn't end there; Patricia shares an interesting anecdote about her sister's surprising success with pricing adjustments in a niche market. Wrapping up, Jennifer encourages listeners to keep their questions coming, promising continuous value and support through these insightful discussions. This episode, packed with actionable advice and real-world insights, is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to navigate the complexities of networking, business acquisitions, and pricing strategies. Certain parts of North London will be very happy, as Arsenal yet again beat Spurs at the Armitage Shanks Arena. Arsenal fans will be happy with this one, a hard fought 1-0 win over Tottenham without Odegaard or Rice, and Saka going off with what looks like a hamstring injury. Man City's 115 allegations of rule breaking begins Monday 16th September in what could be a defining case and era for the Premier League as we know it. but on the pitch, Haaland scores a brace to bring his tally to 9 goals in just 4 games so far this season, FPL Managers who haven't got him in their team must be kicking themselves! This week, SepTIMEber continues as we head back to 14th century France to launch real fireballs out of real trebuchets alongside real Montreal LARPers in a rare misstep from a true master of the popcorn flick. It's 2003's Timeline, directed by Richard Donner, based on the book by Michael Crichton, and starring Paul Walker, Frances O'Connor, Gerard Butler, Billy Connolly, David Thewlis, Anna Friel, Neal McDonough, Ethan Embry, Matt Craven, Michael Sheen, Lambert Wilson, Marton Csokas and Rossif Sutherland. Two movies into this theme month and we already be down bad with Stockholm Syndrome, as the dire straits of The Time Machine made this film look like an oasis in the desert comparatively. Alas, it is a deeply flawed flick to be sure, and for the very first time one of our hosts could not make it over the finish line. Plus: a bit of listener mail makes Hayley finally explain her longstanding beef with Ted Lasso. If you'd like to watch the movie before listening to our conversation, good luck! Despite being a Paramount movie, Timeline is not available on Paramount+ but is rentable on YouTube and the Cineplex app at the time of publication. Other works discussed on this episode include Rebel Ridge, Green Room, Blue Ruin, Kinds of Kindness, Poor Things, The Favourite, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Emperor's New Groove, Child's Play, M3GAN, English Teacher, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, Almost Live!, Ready Player One, Backspot, I Like Movies, Sabrina Carpenter's album Short & Sweet, The Dana Carvey Show, Too Funny To Fail, 300, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Midnight in Paris, Pushing Daisies, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, Olympus Has Fallen, Greenland, Geostorm, Superman II, The Goonies, Lethal Weapon, Maverick, Radio Flyer, The 13th Warrior, Sky Captain & The World of Tomorrow, Paycheck and The Perfect Score. We'll be back next week with a little ADHD-TPB, as SepTIMEber rolls on with a movie J Mo torrented off the internet roughly 15 years ago and never got around to actually watching: 1979's Time After Time, starring Malcolm McDowell and David Warner as H.G. Wells and Jack The Ripper respectively. Sounds like fun, right? Here's hoping! It is also not available on streaming, but once again is rentable on YouTube. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!!

Howdy folks of the interwebs. JJ joins "The Farm Podcast" with host Recluse, to discuss the facts & conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination attempt on former POTUS Trump. We also discuss the connections of the Trump assassination attempt to an assassination attempt on George Washington at nearly the same location circa 260 years ago! Ol George Washington was also involved in another assassination in & around the vicinity of Butler PA - the site of the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt on Trump. Lastly, a discussion of the assassination attempt on Trump couldn't be complete without the context of the Society of the Cincinnati - George Washington's "Secret society" that started America. In fact, in all likely probabilities Trump's VP candidate, JD Vance, is a descendant of George Washington - via an audacious character in Americana, Abner Vance! Anyhow, folks of the interwebs...thanks for join'n me to get a lil GCD! Enjoy the conversation on the Assassination Attempt on America with Recluse! welcome to the chaos that is our live episode!
The last of Pat’s childhood is gone.
Pacific Northwest comedy fans will know this Legend, and others will be happy for the introduction. Almost Live! is a relic from an age when a local tv station could afford to produce its own comedy show, often besting the network offerings in terms of laughs per minute. Originating on Seattle's KING TV in the 1980s, Almost Live! originated as a talk show with comedy bits, but soon morphed into a half hour sketch show aired just before Saturday Night Live. The cast and the writing were superb, and the local flavor given to the sketches led to "water cooler" recaps throughout the next week. Eventually the show fell victim to budget cuts imposed by new out-of-state station owners, but it's a measure of Almost Live's impact that several partial reboots have been tried (with some success), there's a big YouTube library of shows and sketches, and a fun podcast tracks down the cast today. As always find extra clips in the comments, thanks for sharing our shows, and if you are driving in Ballard, keep your speed to 7 MPH. Want more Almost Live! Part of Almost Live's charm is they could get all manner of local celebrities to get in on the fun. The Lame List featured top Seattle metal musicians proclaiming their opinion on current events. https://youtu.be/hGpBnB-jYa8?si=O9jxm7xo06IR4dPF John Keister presided over Almost Live and his monologues and news parodies dipped deep in the well of Northwest Lore -- as in the case when WSU became a dry campus. https://youtu.be/NkaYaxRF2Dc?si=gLnbvxpS6DHvBhtF Almost Live managed a tone of affectionate irreverence about all things Seattle -- especially the neighborhoods. Case in point -- The Ballard Driving Academy. https://youtu.be/nyz6mkvlEgA?si=8-_BQgHu8hDVU8v8 Like any good sketch troupe, Almost Live! cast members had their niches, and Pat Cashman excelled as a master of characters -- especially those commercial pitchman. Match that talent with the fact that an exotic rug store in Seattle's Pioneer Square was always "going out of business" and you get comedy gold. https://youtu.be/erCFOteg_t4?si=W2_HrYZQIEmrLxa9

This week we took the 3WHH on the road for a special ad-free episode, as Lucretia and Steve recorded before a live audience at Commenter-Con II in Phoenix. Commenter-Con II is the inspiration of 'Ammo Grrrll" (known in real life as Susan Vass), with Power Line readers from 27 states turning up. It also coincides roughly with the 40th anniversary of Lucretia and Steve's very first argument, which, Steve now admits, Lucretia was right about after all. After we kick around the stunning news about Tucker Carlson's startling exit from Fox News, and a few other background questions about favorite books, reasons for the never-ending whisky divide, and related, we turn to audience questions, in particular our nominees for who we'd like to lock up if we had genuine prosecutorial powers.(John Yoo wasn't able to join us as he had to be in the classroom for the last week of his classes at Berkeley Law, but sent along a note: "I wish I were there, but on the advice of counsel, I've been warned against showing up anywhere where people calling themselves 'Ammo Grrrll' and 'Lucretia' are in attendance. Steve Hayward, not so much."
