How Dealers Use Data, A Mixed Recovery, Higher Prices = Higher Quality

Shoot us a Text. It's a new week, and we'll be on the ground in dealerships in New York and Indiana today. We're talking about how dealers are using data to make decisions, what the second half of the year looks like for dealers, and how consumers are dealing with higher prices.Cox Auto's Power of Data Study was conducted in late 2023 and early 2024 and takes a close look at how U.S. auto dealers are using data to run their dealerships, make decisions, and boost customer value.Nearly all dealers use Customer/Lead Data (96%), Vehicle Data (94%), and Dealership Data (96%). Over 80% of dealers see the upside of using data. They mention things like more accurate forecasting, better trend monitoring, higher revenue, and increased efficiency. However, confidence levels vary. While 72% trust their in-house data, only 66% trust third-party data. Most OEM and third-party data runs on 30, 60, or 90-day trends, which isn't always helpful for day-to-day decision-making.Data privacy and compliance are major worries. About 66% of dealers are concerned about ensuring data privacy, and 44% have held off on adopting new tools because of these fears. The top goals for using data are to increase revenue, improve customer experiences, and enhance internal operations. This includes everything from tracking employee performance to managing inventory more effectively. The automotive market is experiencing a mixed recovery as high interest rates and pricing concerns temper sales growth in the latter half of 2024.U.S. light-vehicle sales in July were estimated at 1.3 million, down 0.4% year-over-year, with variations in estimates by GlobalData and Cox Automotive. The seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales rose to 16.1 million units, up from June's 15.3 million units.Automakers reporting monthly sales showed mixed results: Mazda, Subaru, Hyundai, and Honda posted gains, while Toyota, Ford, Kia, and Volvo saw declines.Fleet sales dropped 33% year-over-year, impacting overall sales.Inventory levels rose by 49% compared to July 2023, but the growth is expected to slow in the second half of the year."July's performance was disappointing, suggesting that the market could be losing a little momentum as we head into the second half of the year," said David Oakley, head of automotive forecasting for the Americas at GlobalData.Consumers' cautious spending continues, benefiting dollar stores and off-price retailers. Shoppers are not just looking for low prices; they demand value and quality. Many shoppers expect higher quality as prices rise, not just maintaining price points. For example, retailers like Abercrombie & FitcHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Word of Life - Bishop David Oakley - 2021-12-20 Preparing for the Feast of the Holy Family with Bishop David Oakley The feast of The Holy Family is a day in which we focus on Jesus, Mary and Joseph and always falls after the feast of Christmas on the last Sunday in December. The feast calls us to contemplate the family through prayer and reflection of the Scriptures. We keep in our prayer the vocation to marriage and family life, couples who are discerning marriage, those who have recently married, those celebrating special anniversaries and all the joys of family life. Bishop David Oakley shares that this Feast of the Holy Family reminds us of the importance of the family in salvation history and in the life of the Church today. Bishop David Oakley is Bishop of Northampton. David James Oakley was born on 28 November 1955 in Stourbridge. He is the eldest of five children to Joyce and Fred Oakley. The family moved to Birmingham when David was seven years old. After school, he worked in a well-known department store and entered Oscott in September 1974.Fr Oakley was ordained priest on 5 July 1980 and has served in several parishes within the Archdiocese of Birmingham. He has always suggested that the parish is his natural habitat. Fr Oakley studied catechetics at the Maryvale Institute and was awarded a MEd degree. He was appointed Pastoral Director and Procurator at Oscott in 1994. During this time he researched a PhD thesis in Pastoral Theology, which was later published. As Parish Priest at Maryvale, Fr Oakley directed the diocesan Department for Parish and Family Catechesis, developing resources in collaboration with CaFE. At the same time, he undertook licentiate studies in the Pontifical University of St Patrick's, Maynooth and was awarded the STL degree. He served as the twenty-third Rector of St Mary's College Oscott – a seminary in Birmingham for training priests for ministry in England and Wales. He was ordained the thirteenth Bishop of Northampton in the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate and St Thomas of Canterbury on Thursday 19 March 2020. For a more detailed biography, visit the Diocese of Northampton's website.

The advertisement, disguised as an anti-vax message from a faux funeral home, leads to a website promoting vaccination and providing further information through a link to the StarMed Healthcare site.Takeaways Boone & Oakley utilized an unconventional approach when developing the “Don't Get Vaccinated” mobile LED truck. I talked to the co-founder of WAVi at the 7th Annual Biohacking Conference in Orlando, Florida. Physicist David Oakley created a device that's used to directly measure brain function and gives you a 360-degree assessment of your brain performance.WAVi is an all-in-one measurement platform. Users get objective information about brain function through EEG, visual ERP, auditory ERP, heart rate variability (HRV), Trail Making, standard assessments and more. This full FDA-regulated Class II device measures biomarkers of your brain with detail and precision in under 15 minutes.“People measure their weight every day, right?” David says. “Step on the scale, “Where am I at today?” So, we should be measuring our brains regularly. Someday there will be WAVi in doctors' offices and you'll check your brain like you check your weight.”For an introduction to WAVi, listen to Bulletproof Radio episode #619: Your Brain Voltage: Measure It, Raise It, Control It. In this interview, David and I go really deep into the science behind WAVi's development. We get into physics, neuroscience, brain data, scientific inquiry and what's exciting about the future of brain performance research. David comes from a long family line of inventors and creators. His own career as a physicist includes research and teaching at universities. He was also a researcher at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and has analyzed data within neutrino astrophysics, a branch of astronomy that observes astronomical objects with neutrino detectors in special observatories. He has published research and articles in the areas of physics, medicine, and art. At mid-life he turned to brain data and created WAVi: a mix of art, science, commerce, and public service. He made the move to study the brain when he met a fellow scientist David B. Jaffe. “He started showing all the [brain] patterns, and I thought, “This is beautiful,” David says. “It's beautiful waves. You can do a lot with it. You can help people. It's about the same as physics, though. It's the same, just voltage versus time series data.”David's now exploring multiple brain topics, including concussions, Alzheimer's, Dementia, and mental health. You'll also find out why P300 continues to be an important signature of cognitive processes. It's a 300 millisecond time frame that measures brain activity. This includes attention, working memory and dysfunction in neurologic and mental disorders. Ongoing research sees it as a potential genetic marker of mental disorders.“As you age this performance drops and the speed drops,” David explains. And then there's voltage activity that's happening in the brain. And if you can assess and measure what's going on in your brain, you can do something about it.So, this is a really big thing. And I want you guys to think about this. Right now you might be saying, "I'm not a brain scientist, I'm just listening to this." But there's, how fast does the brain respond? And how strongly does the brain respond? Because those are different things. And the reason my brain does what it does, I would say is clearly nutrition and mitochondrial enhancement and supplements and all that kind of stuff. It's a fascinating time to be upgrading your brain! “So, 10 years from now, the happy path is that with the brain scan, the artificial intelligence will know you and know what you need to optimize your brain,” David says. “There won't be a question of, in the ideal world, it's not a question of your brain is slowing down. It will know you on day one and say, “This is what you need to do. As long as you stay with this program, you're going to have an optimized brain. It's not going to slow.” That's my 10-year future.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The adventure of influence is a series which focuses on helping our church people to be ‘outward' looking especially with the easing of restrictions to see every single day as an adventure of possibility to be used by God to influence and impact somebody in the activities we do and the places we would normally go. Discipleship does not start at conversion but long before as God can use our Christ given influence outside the 4 walls of a church building amongst our friends, family, work colleagues, in community, in hobbies etc to be a bridge to lead people into connection with God. As a church, we state that our Grow/Go/Gather mission strategy reflects our desire to make disciples of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) who in turn make more disciples. For us discipleship is not classroom/building based but more about a life-long daily apprenticeship of following Jesus, being like Him, obeying Him, proclaiming Him and glorifying Him (Mark 8:34 and Colossians 1:15-20). This is our aim but what does this really looks like as we slowly emerge out of lockdown i.e. what is a disciple, what does a disciple do, how does a disciple live etc are all questions to be addressed in this series. Will God help when life grows dark and does God notice? The answer in the life-giving miracles in the Gospel of John is a resounding yes. Military intelligence is important, but it isn't the whole world As quoted from David Oakley's book, Subordinating Intelligence: The DoD/CIA Post-Cold War Relationship How has the relationships among intelligence agencies evolved over the past half century, and why is this important for national security leaders today? In this episode in our on-going series on Strategic Intelligence, David Oakley shows how two prominent actors in the intelligence community -- the Department of Defense and Central Intelligence Agency -- moved from an even-weighted partnership to a virtual supported-supporting relationship since the 1990s. Using the constructs of "intelligence for action" vs. "intelligence for understanding," Oakley describes how this negatively impacted the functioning of the community as a whole.
