I had the good fortune to go and interview the Grand Canyon Superintendent, Ed Keable, and at the time, I was also allowed to do a tour of the Kolb House. This is a very special place and the story is amazing. It really is a story made for a movie. In fact, I'm surprised it hasn't been mad into one yet because it tells the story of these brothers that came to Arizona in 1901 and 1902, and they set up this photography studio, right on the edge of the Grand Canyon on the South Rim. It's still there, and we were given access to the property and to get to see and view how they lived in their house from 1904 until Emory dies in 1976. Inside is the photography room, the areas where they would have parties, and some of the most amazing views you've ever seen of the Grand Canyon. Part of the house is open as a museum, but part of it isn't. And we're going to show you the part that isn't. That's what's special about this and why I wanted to make it into a podcast. This is one of those that I highly recommend watching on YouTube. It's a pretty compelling story, and I think it's one of those places that you may never get to visit in person. Hopefully this tour via my podcast/video will give you a sense of what it's like and what it would have been like at the turn of the century in Arizona.

676. Part 2 of our conversation with Frances Kolb Turnbell about Spanish Colonial Louisiana. Frances recently published an important history entitled, Spanish Louisiana: Contest for Borderlands, 1763–1803.  What happens when a fading French colony is handed over to a Spanish Empire determined to impose order? In this episode, we dive into Frances Kolb Turnbell's landmark book, Spanish Louisiana. We explore a Mississippi Valley that was far more than just a line on a map—it was a "fluid zone" where Spanish governors, defiant French colonists, Indigenous diplomats, and enslaved people seeking manumission constantly negotiated the terms of their own freedom. From the violent New Orleans Revolt of 1768 to the secret trade networks that fueled the American Revolution, Turnbell reveals how the people of the borderlands often shaped imperial policy more than the monarchs in Madrid ever did. Frances Kolb Turnbell is a historian of Early America and the Atlantic World with a specialization in the eighteenth-century Lower Mississippi Valley. She earned her PhD from Vanderbilt University and currently serves as the editor of the Tennessee Historical Quarterly while teaching at the University of North Alabama. How could the second-largest school district in the nation believe its decision to ban screens was right when so many educators adamantly believe it's wrong? How are school boards and educators looking at the same research and arriving at different conclusions? The discussion around screen use in schools has intensified, particularly with the LA Unified School District's decision to impose a screen ban. But what does this mean for our students and their educational experience? In this conversation, we'll unravel the rationale, the existing research on technology use in education, and how we can approach technology to enhance learning rather than hinder it. Iron Hand Tonty's Account of the Route from the Illinois by the River Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico Our provisions failing us, I left a man to take care of our things and went off by land; but as I had a fever constantly on me and my legs were swollen, we did not arrive at this village till St. Martin's day (November 11, 1680). During this journey we lived on wild garlick, which we were obliged to grub up from under the snow. When we arrived we found no savages: they were gone to their winter quarters. We were obliged to go to the places they had left, where we obtained hardly as much as two handfuls of Indian corn a day, and some frozen gourds which we piled up in a cabin at the water's side. Whilst we were gleaning, a Frenchman whom we had left at the cache, came to the cabin where we had left our little store of provisions. He thought we had put them there for him, and therefore did not spare them. We were very much surprised, as we were going off to Michilimakinac, to find him in the cabin, where he had arrived three days before. We had much pleasure in seeing him again, but little to see our provisions partly consumed. We did not delay to embark, and after two hours' sail, the wind in the offing obliged us to land, when I saw a fresh trail, and directed that it should be followed. It led to the Poutouatamis village, who had made a portage to the bay of the Puans. The next day, weak as we were, we carried our canoe and all our things into this bay, to which there was a league of portage. We embarked in Sturgeon Creek, and turned to the right at hazard, not knowing where to go. After sailing for a league, we found a number of cabins, which led us to expect soon to find the savages. A highly respected patient advocacy organization with a trusted identity and decades of impact made a bold decision to change – the reasons behind this decision matter for every organization. For many advocacy leaders, brand identity is deeply tied to trust and recognition. But as science evolves and patients' needs become more complex, organizations must ask themselves: are we reaching all the patients we're meant to serve? In this episode of Patient Advocacy Voices, host Eric Racine is joined by Anders Kolb, President and CEO of Blood Cancer United, alongside returning co-host Elizabeth Franklin of Sanofi. Together, they explore one of the most difficult and necessary decisions an organization can make: transforming an already strong identity to better serve patients. What may look like a simple rebrand is, in reality, a story of leadership, courage, and a deep commitment to patients. Dr. Kolb shares both his professional journey as a pediatric oncologist and his personal connection to blood cancer. He reveals how data, listening, and lived experience uncovered a critical gap: too many patients did not see themselves reflected or served by the organization. This resulted in a strategic change from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to Blood Cancer United, a name and movement designed to be more inclusive, more representative, and expand access and support for everyone affected by blood cancer. In this episode, you'll gain insights on:How to recognize when your organization's mission has outgrown its brandHow to make a bold, forward-looking decision by reading the right signalsWhy inclusive language helps more patients feel seen, supported, and connectedHow to tie culture, strategy, and success metrics around real patient impact Ways to lead a large-scale organizational change This episode reveals how proactive leadership decisions can transform an organization to expand its impact, remove barriers, and ultimately connect more patients to the support they need when it matters most.

It's called Agentic AI, and it has sparked a new round of handwringing and calls to go back to blue books and pencils. To kick off 2026, the creators of SAMR, TPACK, Triple E, SETI, and the Gen AI U frameworks met to unravel how this technology may impact teaching, learning, and the future of proving that a student's degree or credential actually indicates competence. Interview with Trey Wasser, CEO of Dryden Gold Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/dryden-gold-tsxvdry-centerra-backed-explorer-targets-district-scale-gold-in-ontario-8109Recording date: 17th November 2025Dryden Gold Corp (TSXV: DRY) has emerged as a compelling strategic acquisition target in Ontario's gold sector following successful execution of its 2025 exploration program and explicit endorsement from major mining company partners. The company controls 70,000 hectares in northwest Ontario hosting multiple high-grade gold discoveries across four distinct mineralization types, with fully funded drilling planned for 2026 under management explicitly targeting a Great Bear Resources-style exit. The investment thesis centers on systematic district-scale exploration designed to attract strategic buyers rather than pursue standalone mine development. Recent drilling fundamentally reshaped the geological understanding at the Gold Rock target area, revealing nine interconnected high-grade structures within a 300-meter span—including intercepts of 300 grams per ton over 3.9 meters and 55 grams per ton over 3.5 meters—connected by continuous one gram per ton mineralization. This discovery transformed what appeared to be isolated veins into an integrated system where lower-grade material provides economic continuity while high-grade shoots create exploration upside.Strategic validation provides perhaps the most compelling near-term catalyst. Centerra Gold invested in 2024 and has explicitly directed management to continue district-scale exploration rather than focus exclusively on infill drilling at known high-grade zones. Alamos Gold maintains similar engagement, while additional confidentiality agreements with unnamed major and mid-tier mining companies indicate active corporate interest. These sophisticated mining companies endorse the systematic approach because it generates the comprehensive geological understanding and high-quality data they require for acquisition decisions. The technical team significantly de-risks execution. President Maura Kolb led the Red Lake mine exploration team for five years, managing 90 personnel and a $50 million annual budget while reducing finding costs from $500 to $50 per ounce. Her major-mine experience directly informs Dryden's exploration protocols including oriented core drilling, 100% core assaying, and property-wide geochemical surveys—practices that distinguish systematic explorers from promotion-focused juniors. Kolb's team discovered the hanging wall structures specifically because they assayed all rock types rather than only visible quartz veins. The property's geological diversity creates multiple value pathways. Beyond the Archean lode gold system at Gold Rock—which Kolb compares directly to Red Lake geology—the company has confirmed intrusive-related mineralization at Sherridon, granite diorite-hosted stockwork at Hyndman analogous to NexGold's 1.5-million-ounce Goliath Gold project, and VMS-style mineralization elsewhere. CEO Trey Wasser characterizes this as a "Timmins-like camp" where exceptional gold endowment manifests across multiple geological settings, creating optionality for project-specific joint ventures or staged transactions.Infrastructure advantages reduce development risk and enhance acquisition appeal. Highway 502 provides direct access from Sherridon through Gold Rock to the town of Dryden, while the Trans-Canada Highway accesses Hyndman. Both regional projects have been clear-cut for logging, creating existing access roads. The northwest Ontario location provides political stability, established mining regulations, available contractors and skilled labor, and proximity to operating mines including Red Lake—attributes that command premium valuations as mining companies reassess exposure to jurisdictions with increasing political risk.Dryden enters 2026 fully funded from August 2025 financing to complete 20,000-25,000 meters of drilling, with approximately 50% dedicated to Gold Rock expansion and the remainder advancing multiple district targets. At $4,000 gold, the company offers leveraged exposure to exploration success, strategic transaction, or both, backed by partner validation and systematic technical approach designed specifically for strategic buyer requirements.View Dryden Gold's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/dryden-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Interview with Maura Kolb,  President of Dryden Gold Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/dryden-gold-tsxvdry-58m-drill-campaign-funded-by-strategic-investment-6644Recording date: 23rd September 2025Dryden Gold Corporation has emerged as a compelling exploration opportunity in northwestern Ontario's proven mining district, combining institutional validation with operational excellence to develop what appears to be a significant district-scale gold system. The company's methodical approach has attracted strategic investment from Centerra Gold, which maintains a 9.9% ownership position and provides crucial third-party validation of the exploration thesis.Under President Maura Kolb's leadership, Dryden Gold has achieved remarkable operational efficiency with industry-leading drilling costs at $200 CAD all-in, significantly below peer averages. This cost advantage stems from strategic partnerships with Winnipeg-based contractors and local expertise development, supporting the company's growth to 10 employees with dedicated core facilities across their 70,000-hectare land package. The flagship Gold Rock target exemplifies the company's systematic geological approach, evolving from three initial structures to dozens of high-grade intersection targets within a concentrated 1km x 1km footprint. This evolution has fundamentally changed mining scenarios from underground-only to potential open-pit development through the identification of stacked structures and multiple deformation events.Regional exploration has revealed an 8km strike length pattern comparable to Red Lake's 28 million ounce endowment, with newly identified targets at Mud Lake showing similar mineralization to Gold Rock. Recent drilling at these regional targets suggests the emergence of a true district-scale opportunity rather than isolated deposits.Financially, Dryden Gold maintains strong liquidity with a recent $7.8 million raise funding 20-25,000 meters of additional drilling, while $11.5 million in warrants at $0.30 now in-the-money provide potential non-dilutive financing. Approximately two-thirds of results from recent drilling campaigns remain unreported, creating multiple near-term catalysts. The company explicitly targets eventual merger and acquisition activity, with Kolb stating: "The endgame is M&A. So we're shopping for our future buyout really with these major companies." This strategic positioning, combined with institutional backing and expanding resource potential, creates compelling risk-adjusted exposure to both organic growth and consolidation opportunities in the strengthening gold sector.Learn more: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/dryden-goldSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Heather Kolb was in the thick of parenting young children when she found out her husband was being dishonest with her and battling sexual addictions. Scared and heartbroken, Heather stepped away from the church and managed things on her own until she found Pure Desire Ministries. Join hosts Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins as they hear from Heather about her story and discover how we can recover from patterns of addiction during this God Hears Her conversation.  Notes and Quotes:  “My life felt out of control, and yet I had been doing all the things that I had been taught to do in the church. I had been praying and reading my Bible and waiting for God to deliver me from this unbearable situation, and [what I had prayed for] happened, but it didn't happen the way that I prayed for it to.” —Heather Kolb  “There are parts of my story that I wish I had answers to and I don't have any closure on. But I do know that God held me through—even when making bold decisions that other people disagreed with.” —Eryn Eddy Adkins  “What are those core messages, the negative core beliefs that you have about yourself?” —Heather Kolb  “When discovery or disclosure [of a sexual addiction] happens, you are walking into the middle of a story.” —Heather Kolb  "The best way to find healing for yourself—not even for the marriage, because that decision might come later—is to find safety and stability and reclaim your identity in Christ by joining a group of other women who are walking a similar road of healing.” —Heather Kolb  “I kept silent, I quietly left the church, I didn't tell anyone. That piece of it really left a hole in my heart for a lot of years because I couldn't trust anyone.” —Heather Kolb  “[A safe group of women] is going to be the thing that helps you to build safety and stability, not only for your marriage but for you—as a person and as a daughter of Christ—to find who you are in the midst of this messiness.” —Heather Kolb  Related Episodes: GHH Ep 145 – Sitting on the Sidelines with Bethany Toney: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/sitting-on-the-sidelines/ GHH Ep 168 – Walking Through Infidelity with Jami Nato: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/walking-through-infidelity/ GHH Ep 196 – Seeking Pure Desires with Ashley Jameson: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/seeking-pure-desires/  Links:  Pure Desire Ministries Website: https://puredesire.org/ Pure Desire Ministries Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/puredesirepdmi/ Pure Desire Ministries Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PureDesirePDMI/ Unshakable Moxie BOGO Deal: https://go.odb.org/bogoGod Loves Her Devotional: https://a.co/d/7F8R0qCGod Hears Her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/godhearsher/?hl=en God Hears Her Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GodHearsHer God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191  Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBM Share Your Story:  https://godhearsher.org/share-your-story/ God Hears Her email sign-up: https://go.odb.org/ghh-sign-upsfmc191  Subscribe on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/god-hears-her-podcast/id1511046507?utm_source=applemusic&utm_medium=godhearsher&utm_campaign=podcast Shop God Hears Her books and resources: https://go.odb.org/ghh-shop191  Unshakable Moxie Series: https://read.odb.org/unshakable-moxie/ Elisa's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/elisamorganauthor/ Eryn's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eryneddy/ Vivian's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vivmabuni/ Our Daily Bread Ministries website: https://go.odb.org/odbm191
