The Love of God and Ourselves is realized in a state of Wholeness. To Love God is to Love our Brothers and Sisters. This is the JOY we have within ourselves to share. This Kingdom of Heaven is Us when we are AWAKE. We heal as we teach healing to others. Sharing is an essential action in realizing our True Self. Christ is the guide. We Love God through loving all of our brothers and sisters. No exceptions are in this Unity of Love.
Jonah is the bad boy of the prophets! As the most recognizable of the Minor Prophets, most people look only at the unique story lines... the rebel prophet, the big fish, the vomit! But Jonah 4 gives us the meat of the book. In the conclusion of Jonah we discover the human condition, the attitude of Israel in the Old Testament and the attitude of self-righteous humanity today. We LOVE God's mercy when we are the recipient, but we like to put parameters on it with others. But here we discover a benevolent and unchanging God in Jonah that cares deeply for His Creation. He is patient and wants to see people repent. This should be our attitude as well towards the lost world. Anger is seldom the answer. We can trust God to accomplish His good purposes! In the meantime, we obediently follow the Will of God and let Him do His work! Message preached on Sunday, October 2, 2022 as part of the "God In The Ruins" series from the Minor Prophets.
President Ronald Reagan (1911-2004). The 40th President of the United States of America said, 'SURROUND yourself WITH the BEST PEOPLE you can FIND, delegate AUTHORITY, and DON'T interfere.' Yet in our EAGERNESS to PLEASE God we take on RESPONSIBILITIES that are 'too heavy...to handle...by [ourselves].' Moses was SPENDING every waking minute LISTENING to COMPLAINTS from long LINES of people. Finally his father-in-law said, 'You are going to wear yourself out- and the people, too,' and advised him to appoint capable leaders to 'help...carry the load' (v.22). lt was a win-win solution; the PEOPLE got help FASTER, and Moses BECAME a better LEADER. One Bible teacher writes: 'One of our GREATEST challenges...is DETERMINING what God DOESN'T want US to do! We LOVE God, we LOVE His people, and we SEE many NEEDS. But sometimes good INTENTIONS cause more HARM than GOOD...When you BECOME AWARE of a NEED, don't AUTOMATICALLY assume God WANTS you to MEET it. The only REASON to perform MINISTRY is when God CLEARLY tells YOU it's His will. If you are OVERWHELMED...you are PROBABLY doing MORE than God asked. Pray ABOUT the ASSIGNMENTS you TAKE on, so you DON'T rob YOURSELF and OTHERS of God's best.' Jon Walker, an American musician adds: 'lmagine if God created you to be the Michelangelo(1475-1564) an Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet) of this AGE but you STAYED so busy DOING all kinds of things-good things- that you NEVER got AROUND to painting and sculpting. You did END up MISSING the best BECAUSE you got DISTRACTED chasing the GOOD. What a DISAPPOINTMENT...for God...and all the PEOPLE who WOULD have BEEN blessed if you DID stayed FOCUSED on your ORIGINAL purpose.' Learn to DELEGATE. Release the BURDENS God never MEANT you to CARRY, and FOCUS on what He CALLED you to DO. God's servant Rev Alfred Acheampong. Prayer Point: Heavenly Father, help me to stay focused on my divine assigment excel in my field and become a blessing to my generation in Jesus name. Stay Blessed! The second of our Four Points is Devotion, which we describe with the tag “We Love God.” John 17 reminds us of the importance of this biblical theme in two ways: by reminding us of our need to be sanctified by His Word, and by demonstrating our need for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
In this sermon we begin a new series called, "This is Us." In this message we begin by talking about how we are called to be a disciple and taking a closer look to what a disciple is. By living life as a disciple we are able to go further, faster, We experience life-change and we live with a greater purpose. This all begins as We Love God for all to see as we follow Jesus and are known as His disciples!
Why We Serve Luke 4:134-30 Follow the Bright Morning Star (Revelation 22:16). Jesus always leads to the Heavenly Father’s Love. At Manteno Nazarene... We Love God by Practicing the Presence of God each moment. We Journey Together by Practicing the Presence in others. Everyone is created in the Image of God. Everyone is Priceless. Jesus declared three things in this passage: He declared he was the Messiah. He declared the Messiah serves. He declared salvation and freedom for all people and not just the insiders. We Serve Others by Finding ways to help others discover the Presence of God in their lives. Take time, like the Wise Men, to lead others to the Heavenly Father’s love in the light of his son, Jesus.
