Danielle is a mom to three kids and two rescue dogs. She and her husband, Adam, started Marriage and Martinis while going through the most intense, chaotic time in their lives. Their goal is to show a real marriage at its core; one in which both people greatly love each other, but also in which it has been difficult and messy. Danielle and I connected as newbie podcasters a few years ago. From the moment I learned of her show and started stalking her ridiculously funny Instagram account, I wanted to be friends with her. She is real and raw to the core; she is not afraid to dig into hard, messy conversations; and she is so eager to support others as they wade through all the work that comes with marriage. After you listen to this conversation, you are definitely going to want to subscribe to the Marriage and Martinis podcast and go get Danielle's book, Date Night Questions. Listen in to hear Danielle share: The importance of talking about life and your personal evolution with your partner - not just always talk about points of contention and the hard parts of your partnership Why Danielle and Adam started a podcast at a low-low in their marriage The truth about the smoke & mirrors of all marriages What it has felt like to be completely open, honest, and vulnerable with their life/marriage in such a public way Her two truths about marriage that she couldn't see coming when they started the show - that might totally help you in your marriage How to frame questions and conversations for healthy communication and growth in your partnerships All the goodies about her and Adam's ebook, Date Night Questions, and how to use the book to support healthy, fun, and productive conversations in your marriage or partnership Links mentioned: Join my free workshop, 5 Ways to Shine Like A Mother Podcast: Marriage & Martinis Get your copy of Date Night Questions Instagram: @marriageandmartinis Facebook: @marriageandmartinis Twitter: @marriagemartini YouTube: Marriage & Martinis

We discuss sustainability, community building, and how Dani built Dazey LA from the ground up. Dani talks about how transparency and showing behind the scenes processes of her marketing and product development has helped her business. ON TODAY’S EPISODE: The spirit and inspiration behind Dazey LA How Dani uses her clothing designs to start a conversation Making the switch from corporate life to full-time freelance What Danielle learned working for a start-up company How Dazey grew out of Dani’s studio apartment Using Instagram to tell the real Dazey LA story Coping with copy-cats and look-alikes Dazey’s daily marketing tactics Why Danielle decided to start an ambassador program How the ambassador program took off The size of the Dazey team today Dazey’s make to order model and zero-waste goals Advice for new product designers and what’s up next for Dani & Dazey KEY TAKE-AWAYS: “Every step of the way with Dazey, I've just been very intentional about aligning my messaging and my values along with my brand and my aesthetic. And somehow it worked out.” - Danielle Nagel “I really try to design things that I want to wear, and I want to promote. I just follow what feels right to me. I try to stay true to myself in everything that I do.” - Danielle Nagel “So through Instagram Story I just started to transparently share the highs and lows of running a business, the fun behind the scenes, and all the nitty gritty I remember wishing I could see when I was working for these corporate companies.” - Danielle Nagel “When we're just starting out, we want to look bigger than we are because we want to be taken seriously, and we want people to purchase our products. But then it gets to a point to where maybe we want people to know we're small and nimble.” - Katie Hunt “At the end of the day, I feel like my art stands on its own, and my messaging and branding is really strong. I know that the sharing transparently has been what has helped my business grow.” - Danielle Nagel “At my corporate job I was always trying to push the rules, always getting in trouble. So it's really fun having control of my own brand and be able to say, "Screw it, I'm going to share everything. I'm going to share designs before they're released. I'm going to share how I made them." - Danielle Nagel “When I started Proof to Product, I felt like if we all get together and share what we know all of us will thrive. All of us will grow stronger together. And now, we've got this great amazing community.” - Katie Hunt “We use our platform as a space to create conversation, and we really want that to be a back and forth conversation. We design along with our audiences. I ask their opinions.” - Danielle Nagel “I'm okay with sacrificing crazy profit margins to be able to have a company that aligns with my values, and create something our community really cares about, that’s a great conversation starter.” - Danielle Nagel “I'm always chasing what's next and what's new. So whenever I get to refresh the brand it's so exciting for me.” - Danielle Nagel LINKS Website: http://www.dazeyla.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dazeyla Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dazey_la/ https://www.refersion.com/ SUBSCRIBE To subscribe on iOS, go to the iTunes page and subscribe to Proof to Product. Do you ever hear music or see art and feel like it's beyond this realm? Too beautiful or too big to have been created by a single person? That's how I felt when I was introduced to Danielle Weber's art. I was speechless and it instantly felt to me that she has been painting and creating for many lifetimes. Danielle creates art on a very grand scale and I was so curious to speak to her about her process and how it informs the rest of her life. In our conversation, she shares one of her hardest moments when she had to deal with grief and loss and how it took her away from her art and creating. She also shares how she found her way back to her canvas and paintbrush and why she thinks everything happens for a reason. She told me why her painting is like a glimpse into her soul and why she believes nothing is impossible. “Painting is my soul.” ~ Danielle Weber So many in my community share with me that they used to paint or draw or have another form of creative expression and it’s been lost over the years, but I can sense their yearning to bring it back into their lives. So, I asked Danielle what her advice was for people feeling that way and what she said really stuck with me. She says that she used to believe that her art was 50% talent and 50% hard work, but she now sees that it’s likely closer to 30% talent and 70% hard work and resilience. She credits her success to the ability to stick with it and push through the frustration and learning and not feeling like you’re any good, so you can get to the other side. We often forget that there is another side! Danielle’s following is growing quickly as she has recently gained a lot of exposure having painted and met Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Check out some of her work below to see what I’m talking about. More About Danielle Weber Danielle is a 26-year-old artist from Melbourne, Australia. Danielle’s career in art stems from growing up in an artistic and creative family, with an abundance of encouragement and support leading to her art dream being realized in 2011. Danielle’s work has extended to Hollywood actors, Olympians, Sports stars and Leading Business personalities. You can connect with Danielle via her website and also follow her on Instagram and Facebook. In This Episode, We Talk About How Danielle loses time when she paints, even at a young age Why her Mom was a big influence on her art That while she has dedicated every hour she’s had to painting, she feels like she still has a long way to go Danielle’s hardest time in her life and how she found her way back Why Danielle thinks that everything happens for a reason The idea that you have to do a lot of work on yourself to allow something like art to help you, otherwise it can just be a bandaid Danielle’s process for painting and generating new ideas and how a lot of the time she finishes and even surprises herself Her main role models in life and art Her advice for others wishing to include art and creativity in your life, no matter what age - HINT: be willing to stay with it even when it feels hard Danielle has painted some very famous people - The Rock, P!nk, Arnold Schwarzenegger and so many more - she shares what meeting some of these celebrities have been like and what has surprised her Danielle shares one of her biggest dreams and why she doesn’t think that anything is impossible How she knows the time is right to start a painting - and what it feels like when it is “right” The thing she’s ever painted Danielle’s advice to people who have a dream The idea of destiny, comparison syndrome on social media And so much more! Danielle Ofri, MD, PhD, is a physician at Bellevue Hospital, the oldest public hospital in the USA, and a faculty member of New York University School of Medicine. She writes about medicine and the doctor-patient connection for the New York Times, Slate Magazine, and other publications. Danielle is co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of the Bellevue Literary Review, the first literary journal to arise from a medical setting. She is the author of a collection of books about the world of medicine. Her most recent book is, "What Patients Say, What Doctors Hear." Danielle highlights just how vital good communication is in the world of medicine. The great majority of malpractice lawsuits stem from miscommunication, far more so than actual errors in clinical practice. This is communication between doctors but importantly, between doctors and their patients. There is an enormous cost of not listening in medicine. Danielle shares one particular study in which an extra twenty minutes spent between doctor and patient prior to a surgical procedure went on to save those patients from an additional three days in hospital, and reduced the amount of opioid painkillers they required. Leaving aside the health outcomes, the financial impact illustrated by this study is substantial. Before a patient consultation, Danielle makes sure she has read up on all the relevant notes and charts. In this way she can listen undistracted while they talk, focused and looking at the patient, not looking at charts or a computer screen. Danielle's research finds that doctors tend to interrupt their patients within eight to ten seconds of their speaking. She also notes that if left uninterrupted, patients will only speak for a minute to ninety seconds - a length of time Danielle thinks we can all aim to listen for! Dedicate a minute to undistracted, 'full frontal listening', and the speaker will give you the information they want to share and that you need. Danielle thinks of it as an investment in the future relationship. Danielle shares a story of her father's experience in hospital, and how accompanying him gave Danielle a patient's perspective on things. It's very easy for a doctor who sees many patients every day to not listen deeply in each and every interaction, because there are so many. For the patient, however, this time is precious. Tune in to Learn How to get around technology, to listen undistracted Why Danielle asks her patients "how much do you want to know?" How listening to a patient reduces anxiety How Danielle is teaching new doctors to listen About listening to the unsaid for life-threatening issues
Have you noticed that mainstream spirituality as a form of self-help and personal development is taking the world by storm lately? There are guides, teachers, mentors, and gurus popping up onto the new age scene in droves. This is of course, for the most part, a beautiful thing, as we all know the world could use as many higher-consciousness thought leaders at this particular stage of our evolution. However, today’s spiritual seeker has to apply more discernment than ever before when selecting his or her modern-day guru. With so many teachers of spirit arriving on the scene, it can be tough to separate the true from false, especially when the aspirant finds themselves at a particularly vulnerable crossroad in life. Our guest Danielle LaPorte is one of the most popular spiritually motivating teachers to emerge over the past few years. Her popularity is growing at a staggering pace. The thing that makes Danielle unique amongst the latest generation of gurus is that she isn’t claiming to be a guru at all. She’s not trying to convince you she has this whole life thing all figured out – she’s merely on her inner journey, inviting us all to come along and join her in her awakening, one day at a time. Danielle’s newest book, White Hot Truth: Clarity for keeping it real on your spiritual path—from one seeker to another, is pretty much a detox for a world inundated by self-proclaimed spiritual sherpas. The whole point of this journey, after all, is to become your guru; to create space for your voice, to own your issues, and to learn from your experiences and pain so that you might be given the opportunity to share the lessons you learn along the way with other soul travelers. Are you ready to give yourself a loving reality check and start finding your path to enlightenment on this journey of life? Pop on some headphones, and prepare yourself for some deeply down to earth spiritual truth. Topics Discussed In This Episode: Getting addicted to self-help Why narcissism is a painful trap (that doesn’t blend well with spirituality) How to avoid being pseudo spiritual The overuse + misuse of the word ‘Guru.’ How and why Danielle created LIGHTER: a one-year soul support program How self-help devolves into self-criticism Why we’re addicted to our phones, and how we keep justifying the addiction Being successful without getting stuck in the lower states of desire + want Taking responsibility for your feelings Cultivating an open, tender heart and a big effing fence Using the human body as a tuning fork for truth The power of eye gazing with an open heart to appreciate someone you love Maintaining faith in goodness when life seems dark Considering the point of view of the soul’s evolutionary purpose The relationship between spiritual maturity and softness Why Danielle stays in touch with her feminine energy in every situation Danielle’s bag of meditation tricks + finding the right meditation practice for you More about this episode. In this episode of the Working Christian Mom podcast, I am chatting with my biz bestie, Danielle Roberts. And just a heads up, we recorded this in April. Danielle is feeling better (she mentions in the episode that she was on crutches). Danielle is passionate about mentorship and especially the mentorship of women who love Jesus and those who are Christian Business owner. In this episode, we talk about the power of mentorship and it’s biblical basis and then Danielle shares a story she hasn’t shared with many. We weren’t expecting it to come out, but good things happen when you invite the Holy Spirit into your conversation. Danielle shares openly about her time in the U.S. Navy as a Working Christian Mom, how her core values influenced her work life and how she handled deployments, tiny babies and pregnancy. But she also shares the story of her decision to blow the whistle against sexual harassment while she was in the military. If you are someone who has ever thought about speaking up to the higher ups in your company or blowing the whistle in the workplace, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss. In this episode you’ll hear: Why Danielle believes mentorship is so important. Danielle walks us through her decision to blow the whistle on military sexual harassment, how that changed her relationship with her coworkers and how she leaned on God during that time. What life looks like almost a decade on the other side of her military career and how her focus and priorities have shifted. Here are our three main takeaways: When we have the courage to stand up for what is right, there are often consequences outside of our control. Danielle knew that blowing the whistle on sexual harassment in the military was going to change her life. The freedom found outweighed the consequences from her coworkers, but that didn’t make the sting of her reality any less real. When we make hard decisions, the outfall can also be hard, but we shouldn’t be afraid of it. In Danielle’s situation, the joy of the Lord was her strength. Danielle named and claimed that verse for herself. She spoke it repeatedly as she was walking into work and throughout her day. It was the rock she stood on while she faced trials at work. She held onto her faith because she knew God would carry her through. God never fails us or forsakes us. During Danielle’s trials, God showed up big. He provided her with comfort, peace, rest, support and encouragement. God keeps his promise never to leave us or forsake us. All of God’s promises in Christ are yes and amen. Links mentioned: Danielle’s book: Created For This About our guest: Danielle Roberts is an online business manager and strategist. She spends her days working with entrepreneurs to develop their business strategy and handling their day to day. In this episode, you’ll hear about: -Why Danielle and Michael decided to focus solely on younger founders, regardless of whether or not they attended university -How starting a venture fund increased her empathy for entrepreneurs, particularly through fundraising efforts -Danielle’s experience starting a charter school in San Diego, and why it was easy to fall prey to “imposter syndrome” during that time -Her experience as an instrumentalist growing up and how that helped her learn to lead, direct, and give feedback to her peers -Why previous execution is critical for applicants to the Thiel Foundation and for entrepreneurs looking for investments from 1517 Fund -The correlation between alternative schooling and entrepreneurship Stay tuned to the end of the episode, where Danielle shares why founders should read personal development books and her current interest in sensor-based technology.

When you are with the right person, in the right situation, being healthy, fit, and happy can seem almost effortless. Sure, everyone has their challenges, but when two people come together with a common goal and real understanding, nothing can stand in the way of their power. No matter where you are in your relationship right now (or if you're currently looking for the right relationship), I guarantee that you'll glean some powerful lessons from this episode that will last you a lifetime. Darren and Danielle Natoni are two incredible people individually, but when they come together, they are truly a force to be reckoned with. They are on a mission to teach and inspire other people to tap into their true fitness and health potential, and they are leading by example. Remember, no one is more influential than the person you choose to spend the rest of your life with. If you want to have an exceptional relationship, then you have to make it a study. It's not about perfection, it's about the process and wanting to grow and be better. It starts with learning from great examples. So, let the show begin! In this episode you'll discover: What inspired Darren and Danielle to go from a sole focus on fitness to focusing on smart nutrition as well. How having parents who exercise and lead a healthy lifestyle can impact their kids. How Darren went from a soccer player, to a DJ, to a federal agent, to a top health & fitness spokesperson (pretty incredible to say the least!) The amazing story of how fitness (and Insanity) brought these two together. How to hold your significant other accountable with their health and fitness (without getting on their nerves). Why Danielle says that everything is a discussion when it comes to building a health relationship. Why accepting the other person in a relationship as they are is so important to long-term happiness. How to instantly lessen the irritation from things your partner does that annoys you. What tips you can use to help you and your loved one stay motivated in your workouts. Why proactively getting outside your comfort zone is so critical to success. How to stay consistent in your fitness & nutrition even when you're extremely busy. How Darren was able to maintain a great level of fitness even when he couldn't workout normally due to injury (great lesson here!)
