Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee, the investigative team behind the Murder Sheet podcast and a series of bombshell reports on the Delphi case, have put forth the only definitive account of the entire investigation. Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland goes deeper and offers more detail than what was shared on the popular Murder Sheet podcast, answering many of the questions that have haunted so many since the deaths of Libby and Abby. Most importantly, in working closely with the German and Williams families, Cain and Greenlee tell the stories of who these two warm, bright, and promising girls were to all who cared for them. With rigorous research and captivating prose, Shadow of the Bridge is a powerful narrative of a complicated, twisting story of tragedy and a community's determination to see justice.Follow Murder Sheet!Web: https://murdersheetpodcast.com/Facebook: facebook.com/MSheetPodcastInstagram: @murdersheetPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/murdersheetX/Twitter: @murdersheetYouTube: @themurdersheetGet your book signed and meet Áine and Kevin: https://murdersheetpodcast.com/eventsBuy the book!Bookshop.org Link:https://bookshop.org/p/books/shadow-of-the-bridge-the-delphi-murders-and-the-dark-side-of-the-american-heartland-aine-cain/21866881?ean=9781639369232Simon & Schuster Link:https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Shadow-of-the-Bridge/Aine-Cain/9781639369232Amazon Link:https://www.amazon.com/Shadow-Bridge-Murders-American-Heartland/dp/1639369236Audible Link for Audiobook:https://www.audible.com/pd/Shadow-of-the-Bridge-Audiobook/B0F8KSNW7YBarnes and Noble Link for Audiobook:https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/shadow-of-the-bridge-kevin-greenlee/1147419487 --For early, ad free episodes and monthly exclusive bonus content, join our Patreon! In a lively conversation, Jill discussed the new true crime book by the hosts of the Murder Sheet podcast, Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee, titled Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland.  Áine Cain, the investigative journalist, and Kevin Greenlee, the renowned attorney, explore the tragic Delphi 2017 murders of young teens Libby German and Abby Williams, which they have intently followed for years. Then the podcasters examine the subsequent investigation, the positive and negative responses by social media, and the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. Additionally, the state of the Delphi community in the aftermath and the darker aspects of true crime are discussed. Is this the new norm? How has social media influenced the public's perception of law enforcement and the trial? What evidence convinced the jurors? Join Jill in this discussion, and be sure to read Shadow of the Bridge, described as “the most comprehensive book on Delphi.”   And a big thank you for all the support and positivity at Crimecon Denver 2025! On an unseasonably warm February day in 2017 in Delphi, Indiana, two friends, 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German, decided on a whim to head out to the trails near their homes. An abandoned railroad bridge that once carried trains gave way over time to the feet of residents. Many would venture out onto the bridge only to find themselves crawling back on their hands and feet, but Libby was brave and she was taking Abby across as she had with others before. At the end of the bridge, as Libby was recording, a man appears over Abby's shoulder and says, “Guys, down the Hill.” Down the hill and across the creek, prosecutors would later say, the man stabbed the girls to death. In 2022, the man was identified by law enforcement as Richard Allen, who was convicted of the girls' murders in 2024. Since 2020, Kevin Greenlee and Áine Cain have covered the murders that occurred beneath the bridge and have just completed writing their book, Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. Kevin and Áine joined me today to discuss their coverage of the case, their continued investigation and their forthcoming book, Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland. You can order the book here. You can read Jayson's review of the book in The True Crime Times here.To listen to The Murder Sheet podcast, click here.Contact me at silverliningshandbookpod@gmail.comCheck out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://www.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookJoin our Facebook Group at:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1361159947820623Visit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-storeVisit The True Crime Times Substack at:https://truecrimemessenger.substack.comThe Silver Linings Handbook podcast is a part of the ART19 network. When 13-year-old Abby Williams and 14-year-old Libby German disappeared from an abandoned railroad bridge on February 13, 2017, the community rushed to search for them. Once they were found murdered, law enforcement began the arduous process of searching for their killer. But, at the end of the day, it was clear from the investigation by Kevin Greenlee and Áine Cain, the co-authors of the forthcoming book Shadow of the Bridge, that Libby and Abby solved their own case– Libby by recording the man on the bridge and Abby by hiding the cell phone with the video on it.In the second and final part of my interview with Kevin and Áine, they take us through the investigation and the ineffectiveness of the defense team's approach to fighting the charges against the accused, a local man named Richard Allen. Kevin and Áine write about how the defense team was hampered by the moment Allen found God, began confessing to anyone who would listen and he said he wanted the opportunity to apologize to the girls' families. We explore the psychology of denial and conspiracies, clearing up misconceptions that have persisted over the years, and we examine the emotional aftermath. Kevin and Áine tap into five years of covering the case to discuss the man convicted of the crime and his family, alternate suspects, the true crime community and creators, the loved ones of Abby and Libby and the legacy of the girls. It argues how Afro-Mexicans facilitated, complicated, and participated in multiple socio-political processes that reshaped Veracruz and its borderlands. Colin Colbourn holds a Ph.D in U.S. History from the University of Southern Mississippi. His expertise includes mass communication and assisting in research efforts for unresolved casualties from past conflicts. Since 2007 he has published articles on Marine Corps history in Leatherneck: Magazine of the Marines, and was Associate Editor for the West Point History of Warfare. John Wyatt Greenlee is a medievalist and a cartographic historian, as well as a historian of roads and pathways and pilgrimage. But he is best well known for his work on the role of eels in pre-modern England from the tenth through the seventeenth centuries. He is heavily engaged in outreach and public engagement to make the eel history more widely known, and to raise awareness for the role of eels as an endangered species. His work with eels and eel history has been profiled in TIME, The Guardian, Atlas Obscura, Hakai Magazine, and The New Yorker  (click here for a full list of earned media)

This movie is so good and so bad at the same time that it's hard to quantify. But we're gonna do it anyway. We're talking Vikings, the Abassid Empire, man-bears, and maybe the greatest language scene in film history. Grab some mead, because it's made from honey, just like this podcast.About our guests:Thomas Lecaque is an associate professor of History at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. He specializes in the nexus of apocalyptic religion and political violence. He has written for the Washington Post, Religion Dispatches, Foreign Policy and The Bulwark, among others.John Wyatt Greenlee is  a medievalist and a cartographic historian. His academic research is primarily driven by questions of how people perceive and reproduce their spaces:  how movement through the world — both experiential and imagined — becomes codified in visual and written maps.

This groundbreaking work, published in 1969, tells the story of one of America's first Black CIA agents who navigates the complexities of assimilation to gain the trust of white colleagues, only to subvert expectations by forming an underground network of guerrilla armies through street gangs to combat the systemic mistreatment of Black communities across the U.S. Together, we will examine the novel's thought-provoking themes—assimilation, militancy, and their psychological and physical relevance today. No matter what happened, I stood for myself. I stood in my truth.” - Sabrina Greenlee “Once I found the presence of God and He met me where I was, everything turned around. I sit down as a guest with Kevin Greenlee and Áine Cain of The Murder Sheet podcast is for a conversation about true ethical crime and media coverage of the criminal justice system. We will talk about The Murder Sheet's recent coverage of Twitter messages between figures in the Delphi murders case. We discuss how judges' recent efforts to prevent the poisoning of jury pools are backfiring, silencing the families and others who have knowledge of cases and creating a vacuum that content creators, unwell true crime enthusiasts and defense attorneys have developed alliances to get around gag orders, which are often not effective and, therefore, likely unconstitutional. We also discuss the beauties of the true crime space, including creators and listeners who have contributed to helping solve cold cases, get attention for marginalized victims and comfort the afflicted. We touch on a better way and how listeners and viewers are voting with their feet, turning away from many unethical creators.Check out part one of The Murder Sheet's coverage of the Delphi defense brain trust's secret messages: https://art19.com/shows/murder-sheet/episodes/26d853a0-e61d-4087-be17-bb1d68cf91eeListen to our previous episode covering the actions of Sadlowski and Parsons here: https://art19.com/shows/murder-sheet/episodes/4adacab5-5280-47e8-a08f-8899bc4efc48Check out the Silver Linings Handbook website at:https://silverliningshandbook.com/Check out our Patreon to support the show at:https://ww.patreon.com/thesilverliningshandbookVisit the Silver Linings Handbook store to support the podcast at:https://www.bonfire.com/store/the-silver-linings-handbook-podcast-store/

A Pivot Podcast special creating conversation around Domestic Violence generating awareness and discussing preventive measures with a survivor in our NFL family, the mother of star Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Our Pivot purpose, is a commitment not just to have the fun conversations or interview A-list stars, but to prioritize using our platform to engage and challenge all of us, especially as men to look into ourselves, be vulnerable, be honest and be better as are dedicated to educating ourselves, fellow athletes, and our community on critical issues to affect meaningful change. In special collaboration with the Cleveland Browns, the NFL and Fanatics, we have an unguarded and tough conversation bringing awareness to domestic violence led by the inspiring story of survivor Sabrina Greenlee, mother of Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who bravely shares her journey that included losing her sight to unimaginable abuse.  Ryan Clark often says what he does now in his 2nd act of life is far more important than what he did in his first. Although playing in the NFL is a gift fueled by passion and hard work, the platforms created from that career and how we use them is our true calling, this episode is an example of that. In a touching and impactful conversation had live in front of the Cleveland Browns organization, Ryan, Channing, and Fred create a space for Sabrina to speak candidly about her experiences, barring her wounds and scars both physically and emotionally as she takes us all through her life changing journey. Painful and hard to hear at times, Sabrina's stories and openness to cut through and speak directly to the root of reality and truly move a room full of men to understand abuse in all forms and the effects it has on victims but their loved ones too.  Sabrina, representing mothers, sisters, daughters and all females in our lives, shares her message and preventative hopes with the team and challenges each of the men in the room to be better, wiser and leverage their NFL platform for positive change. Ryan explains how the NFL locker room is the most forgiving place in the world but also needs to become the most accountable place, checking every person to be an example.  She also engages in a heartfelt Q&A with players, where they discuss the impact of domestic violence on their loved ones and seek guidance on supporting survivors. We hope this episode can provide awareness for a topic that holds a place in our hearts with importance and unfortunately a necessary one to explore as we continue to minimize these types of stories and create a world of zero tolerance for abuse.  To learn more about Sabrina Greenlee and her non-profit organization S.M.O.O.O.T.H, visit https://www.sabrinagreenlee.coand https://www.smooothinc.org and purchase her book Grant Me Vision: A Journey of Family, Faith and Forgiveness to learn more about her touching and inspiring journey.
