Why does the message of Jesus feel “unreasonable” to so many people—even in highly educated, modern cultures? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef unpacks a core reality from 1 Corinthians 1: the cross confronts human pride. To the natural mind, the Gospel seems impossible—God becoming man, living in humility, dying on a cross, rising again, and offering forgiveness and eternal life to all who believe. Yet when the Holy Spirit opens our ears of faith, what once sounded like nonsense becomes the clearest Truth we've ever known. Dr. Youssef also exposes the limits of today's information-saturated world: more wealth, more leisure, and more knowledge have not made us wise or moral—because human wisdom can't redeem, change, or give peace. At best, it covers symptoms. Only God's wisdom—revealed through Christ and His cross—has the power to save, transform, and one day make all things new (Revelation 21:5). If you've been tempted to trust cultural “wisdom,” discouraged by spiritual apathy, or hesitant to share the Gospel because others call it foolish, this devotional will re-center your heart on the only wisdom that lasts: Jesus Christ—God's power and God's wisdom. Scripture Focus: 1 Corinthians 1:18Go deeper: Dr. Youssef's sermon Healthy Living in a Sick World: The Folly of Human Wisdom (Watch Now | Listen Now) The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. The Bible is abundantly clear that Adam was historical—the gospel is even founded on this fact! So why do so many Christians deny his historicity?

Growing in the Wisdom of God
The Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany Text: 1 Corinthians 2:1-16 Theme: "The Secret and Hidden Wisdom of God" Readings: Isaiah 58:3-9a, 1 Corinthians 2:1-16, Matthew 5:13-20 Rev. Daniel Redhage Trinity Lutheran Church The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Lowden, Iowa
Preaching: Ben ConachanThe tradition of wisdom is expansive. On the one hand, conventional wisdom provides insights into living when life goes as it's expected to go. On the other hand, radical wisdom provides insights into living when life takes surprising turns. Then there's stages of wisdom—pre-rational, rational, and post-rational—which offer unique insights into our many phases of development. And of course, in our Christian tradition, there's Christ, who is called, “The wisdom of God.” This sermon series will plumb the depths of wisdom's complexity, seeking light capable of holding us, grounding us, and inspiring us, no matter the circumstance or stage we find ourselves in.Pearl Church exists to express a sacred story and to extend a common table that animate life by love. God is looking for Covenant partners to rule His world with Him according to His wisdom and ways. Will we take the "forbidden fruit" of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, cutting God out of our lives and making our own way, or will we ask God to give us His divine wisdom in His time and in His way? This is the pressing question each soul must answer.
