MY Devotional: Daily Encouragement from Leading The Way

Imagine being granted an audience with a king. As you enter the throne room, you would not begin by rushing through your list of requests—you would first acknowledge his majesty. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reflects on the opening words of the Lord's Prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” To hallow God's name means to set it apart as holy. God is sovereign, omniscient, righteous, just, merciful, faithful, compassionate, and true. He is the Creator of the universe and the King of kings. Yet through faith in Jesus Christ, this holy God becomes our heavenly Father, and we are invited to come before Him in prayer. Dr. Youssef reminds us that the more we know God's character, the deeper our fellowship with Him becomes. Beginning prayer with reverence reorients our hearts, shifting our focus from our needs and desires to the greatness, holiness, and goodness of God. Jesus did not give the Lord's Prayer as a lifeless ritual, but as a guide for fellowship with the Father. As children of God, we have free access to the throne room of the King—and there is no greater honor than calling Him “Our Father.” Join me in prayer.  Precious Lord, thank You for inviting me into Your presence. I praise You as King of kings and Lord of lords and also thank You for being my Father. There is no one like You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. If today's devotional stirred a question, burden, or need for prayer, you don't have to walk through it alone.

What does Jesus actually feel when he looks at you — worn out, knocked flat, barely holding on? The Gospels have a word for it. And it's nothing like the soft, managed thing we usually call "compassion." Today Brandon and Matt dig into Matthew 9:36, the Greek behind two of the most overlooked words in the Gospels, and a gut-level emotion that drove everything Jesus did. Then we close with an imaginative exercise to help you actually receive it — not just understand it. Doctrines, Part 6: Hope in the Character of God Description: In Part 6 of the Doctrines series, Pastor Eric brings together everything we've learned about God's character and answers a deeply personal question: If God is holy… where does our hope come from? Beginning in Isaiah 6, this message confronts us with the overwhelming holiness of God—a holiness so pure that it exposes our sin completely. Like Isaiah, the only honest response is: “Woe is me, for I am undone.” But that's not where the story ends. Turning to Lamentations 3, Pastor Eric shows how hope is born—not from minimizing sin, but from understanding God's mercy in light of His holiness. His mercies are not occasional—they are constant. Not limited—they are renewed every morning. This episode powerfully connects two truths we often separate: God's holiness reveals the seriousness of our sin God's mercy reveals the depth of His love Through repeated emphasis from Psalms 136—“For His mercy endures forever”—this message drives home a truth we need to hear again and again: God's mercy is not fragile. It is enduring. It is faithful. It is available. Pastor Eric also walks through the pattern of real transformation: A clear view of God's holiness A personal awareness of sin Genuine repentance Cleansing through God's provision A surrendered life of obedience This is not just theology—it's an invitation. Whether you're burdened by sin, discouraged by failure, or struggling to believe God still wants you, this message points you back to the unchanging truth: God's mercy has not run out on you. Key Themes: The holiness of God and the seriousness of sin Why mercy only makes sense in light of holiness God's enduring mercy and daily faithfulness The pattern of repentance and restoration Hope for the broken, the weary, and the failing “His mercy is not diminished by your failure—it endures forever.”

Title: How to Hold God to His CharacterScripture Reading: Exodus 32:7-14Series: Be Bold! What if the secret to being bold is not demanding what we want, but reminding God of who He has already promised to be? In this message, we examine the high-stakes negotiation between Moses and God following Israel's immediate fall into idolatry with the golden calf. Moses demonstrates how to live out the Greatest Commandment by interceding for a rebellious people, choosing to hold God to His History as the one who rescued them from Egypt. He further appeals to God's Honor, arguing that God's reputation among the nations is tied to the survival of His people. Finally, Moses holds God to His Heritage by pointing back to the unbreakable covenant made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We see that just as Moses advocated for Israel, we are called to a life where we are saved from sin and saved to a life of worship, ultimately finding our hope in Jesus, the ultimate intercessor who stood in our place. Approach God with boldness by anchoring your prayers in His unchanging character, His historical faithfulness, and His covenant promises.

Title: How to Boldly BarterScripture Reading: Genesis 18:20-26Series: Be Bold!Is it possible for a mere human to negotiate with the Creator of the universe? In this message, we explore Abraham's remarkable negotiation with God over the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah, revealing how boldness is the Greatest Commandment in action. We see how Abraham demonstrates Bold Belief by appealing to God's character as a just, merciful, and righteous judge rather than trying to 'design' a god of his own making. This negotiation also exposes Abraham's Bold Burden for others as he intercedes for his nephew Lot, a practice of intercession that ultimately points us to Jesus—the one righteous man whose sacrifice saves the many. Commit to interceding for others in prayer this week, trusting in the perfect justice and mercy of the one true Judge.

In life, we all experience unmet expectations, natural suffering, and even human evil. When it happens, we all ask the same question: Why? Why did you let this happen, God? Why should I trust you, God? The disciples were asking the same questions when they faced the death of their hero and the end of their movement. Jesus answered their questions with the Farewell Discourse in John, starting with a deep and rich theology of the nature of God.
