Yogi Berra was famous for being one of the best catchers for the New York Yankee's. But what he's most famous for are his humorously ironic aphorisms, like: "A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore", or "It's like deja-vu all over again", and this one about the future: "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." Ol' Yogi ... he always had 'em rollin' in the aisles! But he's right about how we can feel unsure about the future. In fact, in a 2022 poll, half responded that over the next 12 months, they were worried about the direction of our country, and 1/4 had little hope for the future. Strange because it had not even happened yet! What's important to know is that God takes our future very seriously. The Eternal One, who invented time, and is the only one outside of time, told us: "Don't be anxious about anything." If he sees everything and isn't worried - why should we? And yet we can't help it! When it comes to ministry, we need to realize, hopefully sooner rather than later, it's all about Jesus, and not ourselves!  And our lives and ministry must be fueled by the Spirit of God if they're going to be effective. That comes to our attention through the passage before us today in John one, verses fourteen through eighteen.

When John the Baptist entered the scene, just before Christ, he had those questioning who he was.  We'll see John's reply today on Bridging the Gap as we dive back into our study of John's Gospel.  We aim to cover verses fourteen through eighteen of chapter one.

Today we are reminded that Jesus came to be the light of the world. Now, what does that mean?  The debate goes on, but we will turn to God's word today top determine why Jesus is the light of the world.

We don't have to look far in our society to see that people are denying that there is a personal God, and in lieu of that, they have formed their own personal beliefs.   Pastor Lloyd Pulley will address this problem today, and point us to the solution.  We'll be in the Gospel of John once again today, and we'll be highlighting verses six through thirteen of chapter one.

Pastor Lloyd Pulley is in the beginning stages of a detailed examination of the Gospel of John, and today he'll point us to the ultimate truth in life - Jesus Christ. So what is the source of truth?  That's a question being tossed around from Universities, to talk shows and churches all across the land.  The answer without question is Jesus!  And John doesn't want us to miss that.

 On today's program, we begin an in-depth study of John's gospel. When asked what a good book in the bible to read for a new believer, many bible scholars recommend the gospel of John. It offers a first hand account of the life of Jesus. Interestingly, John does not give an account of the birth of Jesus, but as Jesus began His ministry, John was right there, all the way through to the Lord's crucifixion and resurrection.

The Eternal One through His anointed prophets told of a time when the there will be a day of His visitation. When the Sun of Righteousness would descend from heaven down to earth. He would come from the East with healing in His wings. But before God coming to earth, there would be one who would be in the spirit and power of Elijah. He himself would not be the light. How shall we begin a study of the being and the attributes of God-- As creatures who have a beginning, the study of the ever-living One, the eternal God, reveals to us the magnificent awesomeness of God's nature, so different from ours. To think that there never was a time when God did not exit, and there never will be a time when he will not exist, is hard for our human minds to grasp. Yet this shows one attribute of the great God of the universe. This revelation only comes to us by the Word through the Spirit - and gives us cause to fall down and worship the great -I AM- - he who was, is now, and ever will be-

Following on from last week's episode we will come to the conclusion of our wilderness journey with the Ancient Israelites and the Eternal One. After the Eternal One had given victory to the Ancient Israelites over their attackers, He exposed the lies and deceptions of those who had given their allegiance to evil, yet said they were His. Through the entire wilderness journey the Eternal One continued to be with them. He revealed His glory in a cloud during the day and fire by night. The Eternal One was there with them even in their rebellion and rejection of Him. For His heart's desire was for them to be free and choose life eternal with Him. So He continually pursues in love. We are reminded of the sacred oath that humans have taken, by housing the Divine Light within our bodies. The combination of both in one, is insan, who struggle to reconcile these two realities. The only way to reconcile this turmoil, is to dissolve oneself and transcend to the Ultimate Light. The nature of the mind is to blame and claim innocence. Its shadowy nature will always try to justify its existence. Once embedded with emotions- there is havoc. Restrict its work to outer world tasks, rather than the ego's desires for fame, glory and validation, amongst other expectations. The way to resolve the conundrum is to release yourself, your neck from the suffocation of your illusions and to give nourishment to those who are destitute, in whatever way is appropriate. Each one of us are orphans (yateem) and destitutes (fakir) asking for compassion, and the Qur'an has many examples referring to mankind as such. Since we are in the zone of duality, one aspect of us tries to reach for Divine Attributes like Generosity, Kindness, Clemency, rendering our body, our balad (city), as healthy as possible, if not, we will find ourselves filled with anger and suspicion, and other poisons-causing all sorts of depressions. The key to our contentment is that our loyalty should always be to the One and only boundless and Eternal One along with the practice of all blessings being attributed to the One who has provided them, failing which, we will reach a disastrous end. Translation by Shakir: I do call to witness this City;- And thou art a freeman of this City;- And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- And shown him the two highways? But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. Following on from last week's episode we will continue on through the wilderness journey with the Eternal One and the Ancient Israelites. After the Eternal One divided the waters to create a pathway to freedom for the Ancient Israelites, they journeyed to the wilderness of Shur. It was there that the Eternal One turned bitter waters of death into sweet waters of life. The Ancient Israelites continued their journey to another part of the wilderness. To a part of the wilderness called the Wilderness of Sin. Let us go back in time. To a time when the Egyptians were the world super power. The Ancient Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians. They were held captive under the might of the Egyptians and the Egyptian gods. The Ancient Israelites were unable to worship the Eternal One. They cried out to the Eternal One and asked for deliverance from captivity. The Eternal One heard their cries and  saw their hardship. So He personally stepped down into the darkness of humanity, to deliver them. The Eternal One is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the same God. Through the miracles of the wilderness journey, we will discover some of the incredible aspects of the Eternal One.  Throughout history, humanity has searched for the heart of worship. Trapped in the condemnation of the heart and the lies of the evil one and ultimate death, humanity continued to strive for enlightenment and eternal freedom. Humanity even made the incorruptible Eternal One into the likeness of corrupted humanity. However the divine nature of the Eternal One cannot be shaped or altered. God was about to reveal Himself to humans in a new way. The Eternal One cannot change. But there have been a few times in history when He "came closer," to us, and we saw Him more clearly. As Jesus spoke to His disciples in the Upper Room, one of those changes was about to take place. We would soon get a glimpse of what the One God means by, "Us." When I became a mental health counselor, I had no idea what to expect. What unfolded was difficult to accept... but forever changed the way I viewed others. I learned firsthand that some people who might appear “happy” in their everyday life are actually experiencing mistreatment from those they trust most..From the outside, we might never dream that others in our lives are undergoing such strife. I say this only to acknowledge that enduring a harmful situation anywhere—at home, on a sports team, or even at church—is sometimes a reality. If this reality has crept into your world, or a friend's, please seek help! Reach out to a favorite teacher, school counselor, or another trusted adult. There IS a way out, and you don't need to go it alone. Yes, it's hard to bring dark things into the light—and more than one try is sometimes required—but remember: God knows the truth. “Even the darkness will not be dark to you [God]... for darkness is as light to you” (Psalm 139:12)..Life can be unfair, unjust, and painful. However, hope and healing and restoration are also real. So, for whoever may be suffering, do not bear this heaviness alone. Jesus always calls us to carry one another's burdens (Galatians 6:2)..Moreover, Jesus knows unjust suffering too—thrust on Him by others' wrongdoing (Isaiah 53). He truly understands our pain. And though our situation may remain unexplained, God, the Eternal One, “knows the way that [we] take,” and He extends His “everlasting arms” to us (Job 23:10; Deuteronomy 33:27), creating hope where once there was none, promising us His presence, and promisingthat the world will one day be made right through His death and resurrection (Revelation 21:1-5). • G.
