Scripture: Acts 1:3, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, Galatians 1:18-19, 1 Timothy 1:13-17. In today's study we take a look at a Credal Statement. What is a Credal Statement?      ⁃    It is a fundamental of faith     ⁃    It enable people to talk about what they know and believe     ⁃    It is easily memorized     ⁃    It is easily understood     ⁃    It is easily shared Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 “What I received I passed on to you. And it is the most important of all. Here is what it is. Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as Scripture said he would be. He appeared to Peter. Then he appeared to the 12 apostles.” (The Credal Statement in bold.) Then Paul continues with verses 6-8, “After that, he appeared to more than 500 brothers and sisters at the same time. Most of them are still living. But some have died. He appeared to James. Then he appeared to all the apostles. Last of all, he also appeared to me. I was like someone who wasn't born at the right time.” Paul mentions three men in these verses: Peter, James (Jesus' 1/2 brother) and himself. 2000 years later we have evidences of authenticity: There is convincing physical evidence of Peter's home in Jerusalem.  Pastor shares pictures.  There is a bone box, The James Ossuary, which has also been discovered and has an inscription, “James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus.” The basic consensus of scholarly opinion is that this is very likely authentic.   Who were these men?  Peter: denied Jesus publicly three times James: his brother, was an unbeliever - did not believe Jesus was who He was, and James ridiculed his brother Jesus Paul: persecuted and killed believers and denounced Jesus Who did they become?     ⁃    Peter became an apostle of Christ and bold preacher of God's Word. Even arrest, beatings, and threats didn't lessen Peter's determination to preach the risen Christ.     ⁃    James, after seeing Jesus risen from the grave, became a believer and also became the leader of the early Christian church in Jerusalem.     ⁃    Paul was born Saul and he persecuted believers, but after meeting Jesus on a walk to Damascus Saul became Paul the Apostle and defender of the Gospel. What did these three have in common?     ⁃    They had all failed Jesus     ⁃    A denier     ⁃    A radical     ⁃    A persecutor     ⁃    All come to faith in the Risen Lord      ⁃    Their lives are changed     ⁃    They give powerful testimonies to Christ's love  for all sinners What else do they have in common?     ⁃    The PARDON of Christ - Forgiveness in full.     ⁃    Each of their stories is a story of redemption in Jesus and a testimony that not a single one of us is beyond the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.     ⁃    In these three men we see that God saved the worst of us so that He might save all of us. Their changed lives are a testimony to the heart of God wanting us all. How do their stories speak to us today? Applications of the Pardon of God     ⁃    Christ's mercy and grace is for us too - 1 Timothy 1:13-14 “I used to speak evil things against Jesus. I tried to hurt his followers. I really pushed them around. But God showed me mercy anyway. I did those things without knowing any better. I wasn't a believer. Our Lord poured out more and more of his grace on me. Along with it came faith and love from Christ Jesus.”     ⁃    Christ's saving power is for us too - 1 Timothy 1:15 “Here is a saying that you can trust. It should be accepted completely. Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the worst sinner of all.”     ⁃    Nothing we have done can cause Jesus not to want to win us over to Himself     ⁃    Nothing that would cause Him to say He's done with us     ⁃    God wants ALL to be saved.     ⁃    Christ's patient renewal is for us too- 1 Timothy 1:16 “But for that very reason, God showed me mercy. And I am the worst of sinners. He showed me mercy so that Christ Jesus could show that he is very patient. I was an example for those who would come to believe in him. Then they would receive eternal life.” Incredible Love - Incredible Grace - Incredible Pardon And Jesus' mercy and grace, saving power, patient renewal and incredible love are for us, too! Paul, Peter and James were living examples of God's incredible grace - we too are living examples of His incredible grace. Pardon - God offers pardon, forgiveness to all who will repent and believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and we become the children of God…. FOREVER!! Now What? How did the Apostles suffer to get the Gospel to the church and world? How did the Old Testament promise Jesus? What is the main thing the Church is supposed to do? Why should the church teach only things about God that are in the Bible? Why would nothing need to be added to the Bible now? What is the danger in using different methods than what the Bible gives? What is the danger in seeking a different goal for ministry than the Bible gives? Why does Paul say Christ in you instead of what he would normally say, The Holy Spirit in you? Why would Paul connect the word hope when he speaks of glory? What does this protect us from? What does it mean to be mature in Christ? What are some different (false) goals of ministry? What were the requirements to be called an Apostle and why can there be none now? What are some of the riches of the glory of Christ that the church now shares? Will share?

Words In Scripture Explored Perseverance Tap or click here to download as a MP3 audio file Perseverance in relation to God and His work is the continuous operation of the Holy Spirit in your life as a believer. It is a work of divine grace that is begun in your heart, which is continued and brought to completion. As a Christian, you will never perish, and nobody or nothing can snatch them out of His hand (John 10v27-29) You have eternal life and you will not be condemned, passed from death to life. (John 5v24) God, who began a good work in you, will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1v6) You are shielded by God’s power. (1 Peter 1v15) Nothing can separate you from God/Christ’s love. (Romans 8v38-39) The Lord knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2v19) Eternal life never depends on our feeble grip on Christ, but rather on His firm grip on us. God’s whole purpose for you is to transform you into the image of Jesus Christ. His purpose for you is to make you holy. This is where perseverance for you as a Christian comes in. Perseverance of the Christian You are to keep your eyes focussed on Jesus Christ, carry your cross daily and be willing to obey God. But as a Christian, you are sometimes entangled by sin (Hebrews 12v1). God who wholly loves, must discipline His children in order to teach them willing obedience to Himself. God disciplines His children and “It is painful.” (Hebrews 12v11) Therefore as a Christian, and you sin whilst remaining unrepentant and habitually addicted to that sin, God will discipline (Hebrews 12v10). If you sin and are not disciplined, you are not His child (Hebrews 12v8). The Practice of Sin - Habitual Sin As a Christian, you cannot continue to sin habitually, willingly maintaining a sinful practice or attitude. That is why you are warned against falling away. We share in Christ if we hold firmly to the end. (Hebrews 3v13-14) It is possible to experience much of what God offers and not be a Christian e.g. The Pharisees (Hebrews 6v4-6) Deliberate sinning after receiving the truth reveals a rejection of truth. However, God is merciful and will forgive if repentance is asked for! As a Christian, persevere in your relationship with God. Obey Him and follow Him. Ask questions humbly of Him and expect Him to answer, particularly if you don’t understand something. Persevere in your prayers, your relationships with God and with other people. God will persevere with you, turning you gradually into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. God will not abandon you, but you are free to abandon Him. If you did abandon Him, He would still continue to call you back to Himself. Right mouse click here to download as a MP3 audio file

In this episode we continue to look at the larger context of Romans 10:4-10 where Paul's quotes the passage of Deuteronomy 30:12-14, namely, Romans 10:1-5. Paul shares his heart for his Jewish brothers and sisters who have not been able to let go of their own strategy for becoming righteous and submit to the righteousness of God - Christ himself. Using the race metaphor, Israel according to the flesh is like a car with a transmission going bad, but continues to think going through the car wash and getting tune ups will somehow ensure their vehicle get fixed and cross the finish line. Paul says Christ has already reached the finish line in his own vehicle - his own new humanity. If they are willing to pull over and lift up the hood of their car and trust Christ to work on their vehicle, he will start a deep, internal work of rebuilding their transmission from the inside out. The common worldview we find in humanity today takes all of God's miraculous works and reduces them to misunderstandings, mere symbols, or complete fabrications. But... our Lord is still a miracle working God! When we approach Christmas, we approach the ultimate miracle of God—Christ coming in the flesh. But God's miracles do not end there... Oct 1, 2023 - Sunday AM MPR Bible Class   Questions for Revelation 15-16 Summary of last class: This week we will finish chapter 14 at the beginning of class. In Revelation 14 John sees the triumphant multitude praising God for the victory they enjoyed (Rev. 14:1-5). Three angels possessed a message of defeat coming on God's enemies (Rev. 14:6-11). Those who died due to their faithfulness to Christ were rewarded, remembered, and resting in Jesus' presence (Rev. 14:12-13). The chapter ends by speaking of the harvest coming on the world when God will redeem the righteous but destroy the wicked as they are trodden outside the city in the great winepress of God's wrath (Rev. 14:19-20). Chapter 15 reveals the song that was/is sung by the triumphant people of God as God had avenged them. Chapter 16 describes 7 bowls of wrath that were poured out on the Romans (also described as Babylon; see Rev. 16:19).  Questions for Chapter 15-16 Why is the song sung in Revelation 15:3 called the song of Moses (see Exodus 15:1-18)? What do the harps the people are holding in Revelation 15:2 represent (see Revelation 14:2)? Throughout the book of Revelation what causes people to sing to God/Christ? What Old Testament account do the seven bowls mentioned in Revelation 16 remind you of? What have you heard about the battle of Armageddon? What does the Bible actually say about it here (Rev. 16:16)? What does it mean that Jesus is coming as a thief (Rev. 16:15)? When the wicked are punished with the wrath of the fourth and fifth bowl, how do they respond (Rev. 16:9-10)? Duration 44:13

The way I explain God to people. I take it in 2 ways. The spiritual and the scientific. Albert Einstein's law of thermodynamics e=mc2, energy cannot be created nor destroyed therefore there is a piece of God in everything as God is the only creator and the only one who can destroy. However, God actually doesn't destroy anything. God transforms that which is no longer necessary. If God is in fact in all things this teaches us that God is energy. God isn't a person, place or thing but a divine energy that presents itself in all things. If God is in all things that inherently means we are all in fact the same. If we treat ourselves bad we are hurting God. If we treat another bad, we are hurting God. When we hurt the planet we are hurting God. Etc. the lesson in life is to understand that God is present in all things and that by definition is the energy of God which many will say is the frequency of Love. If you look at the spiritual doctrine of Jesus, Muhammed, Buddha, Krishna and thousands of other prophets, kundalini awakened beings and spiritual leaders they will all guide you to the same understanding that we are all the same and all connected. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” Luke 6: 31 summarizes the key lesson in life. Our actions have consequences. The 10/90 rule is that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% of how you respond to it. Your thoughts become things and therefore your actions are truly worth 1000 words. God is present in all things and is reflected back to us in everything. This can be how connected we are to God or how disconnected we are from God. Heaven isn't a magical place in the clouds or even after death but rather being in full communion with God/Christ consciousness and hell isn't a fiery pit in Gehenna but rather this earthly realm when you are stuck to the lower realm disconnected from God. The more that you can find God in everything and everyone the closer you are to experiencing the lesson of the great mystery of life. This is simply a simulation of your manifested thoughts. When you activate the ability to see the God within and without you no longer feel the pain and discomfort but rather that all feelings are a part of God's plan. God is truly the one thing that supports us in all ways. It is never truly absent unless one consciously decides to reject it. That would be by definition hell. #selfawareness #autonomous #autonomy #psychology #thinkingoutsiderhebox #authenticity #purpose #spirituality #spiritualawakening #beliefssystem #belief #originality #esoteric #esotericism #conspiracy #freethinking #god

Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets, Part 36 "Birthers" for God? Christ's Words Prove Otherwise, presented by Bob DeWaay and Jessica Kramasz. Dutch Sheets claims that we can be "birthers for God" as we release the Holy Spirit through prayer. John 3:8 shows that Dutch Sheets' claim is contrary to the teaching of Jesus. We proclaim the gospel, and the Holy Spirit saves whom He will save. (duration 00:32:03) Click here to play

Since prayer is at the heart of the Christ's sadhana (and also that of Sri Ramakrishna) we're going to ask the question “How To Pray?” What is prayer exactly and how can I do it? In this lecture, we first have a discussion on the centrality of prayer in spiritual life before defining prayer and then asking "who should I pray to?" We present the theory of the Ishta Devata, or Chosen Ideal to demonstrate that what you are praying to is not at all as important as the power of the prayer itself, i.e the object of your love is not as great as that love itself for God is Love. Then, we discuss about 5 different types of prayer.Over the past couple of weeks we've explored two aspects of Christ's life and teachings: Renunciation (which is in some ways, the start of genuine spiritual life) and Forgiveness (which he achieved as a result of perfection in spiritual life, that is to say, the end).  Today we're going to discuss the middle: Christ's message on practice!   As such, this is the third installment in our lecture series on Christ, if you don't include the Q&A! This is the first of a three part lecture series on the teachings of the Christ in the light of Vedanta, Yoga and Tantra. Today, we take up Jesus' message of renunciation. Above all, the Christ, like all the avatars before and after him, exemplified total absorption in God and uncompromising renunciation. What is renunciation, anyway?   You see:   We all want to be happy. The goal of life is happiness and fulfillment. Now consider this carefully:  We do so many things in a day. But if take the time to stop and carefully consider why it is that we do what we do, most of us will find that we are motivated by pleasure, money, power and name and fame. We work to make money because we crave financial security and because we think that money will bring us new experiences, new pleasure. We seek out company that increase the overall pleasure we feel in our life. We work to increase our followers or find praise and validation to feel a sense of belonging. And we pursue learning because it is a subtle form of pleasure and power. Notice, our motivations are most “worldly”. That is to say, our fundamental orientation towards life is to look for fulfillment and happiness. What good has that done you? Did you actually get what you were looking for from acquiring all of these things? By studying your own experiences and also the lives of people who are successful in a worldly sense (top professors, billionaires, rock stars etc.) you come to learn that an increase in pleasure, money, fame and power don't at all mean an increase in happiness. Often the opposite! So then, understanding this, why continue to pursue things you know won't make you happy?   Contrastingly, the happiest people in the world are often holy men and women who have renounced their fascination with the trinkets of the world and instead spend all of their time enjoying the inner fulfillment of spiritual life. These people devote their time to spiritual practice and study and when they work in the world, they do it as an act of worship, not to make money or be praised. And as a result, they are free, happy and genuinely fulfilled in a way that most of us aren't! Understanding this, we must resolve to devote every single hour of our day to spiritual life. We should radically redefine our orientation to life.  The goal of your life is enlightenment, not pleasure, not wealth, not power, not name and fame. If you have this conviction, yours will be a beautiful life. The only fulfillment here is in the Spirit.  In this video, we sketch out the two "axiological" arguments above as well as three more arguments, one from the point of view of epistemology, the other from metaphysics and the final one is an appeal to a corroborated claim by all the major world religions for a total of 5 arguments in favor of devoting every single moment of your life to spiritual practice.Support the show
