Going big is overrated — and Eric Zimmer makes a compelling case that the smallest changes are the ones that actually stick, building quietly into something transformative. Then in the second half, Jay Shetty draws on his experience as a former monk to show how training your mind daily can bring the peace and purpose that grand ambitions rarely deliver. You've made changes. Taken steps. Started fresh. But it's not happening the way you thought. Little by little can feel invisible. This message explains why it's not.
Do you keep trying to make big changes, only to burn out or get stuck at the choice point? In this episode of The Wise Effort Show, Dr. Diana Hill talks with Eric Zimmer, host of The One You Feed and author of How a Little Becomes a Lot, about why lasting transformation happens through small, consistent actions—shaped by clear values, a “middle way” mindset, supportive structure, and compassionate self-talk. Drawing from Eric's recovery from heroin addiction, Diana's pushup challenge, and everyday examples like food choices and pain language, they explore how to navigate motivation, self-doubt, autopilot, and other traps, and why meaningful change requires both inner skills and connection with others.Listen and learn:How “little by little” creates real change over timeHow to decide what is worth wanting and work with values conflictsHow the middle way and self-compassion help you move through setbacksShare this episode with someone who needs a steadier, more sustainable approach to change.Related ResourcesGet enhanced show notes for this episodeOrder my book, Wise Effort: How to Focus Your Genius Energy on What Matters Most, and receive special bonus gifts.Want to become more psychologically flexible? Welcome to another short and empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week... Today, we explore the powerful truth that real change is created through small, consistent actions over time, inspired by a simple mantra: 'Little by little, a little becomes a lot.' Three key takeaways you can expect: Why small, repeatable habits matter more than big bursts of motivation. How to let habits carry you forward, even on tired and imperfect days. How to recognise progress by noticing who you are becoming, not just what you are achieving. Listen in and reconnect with the idea that your dream life is created through small, intentional choices made day by day, helping you move forward in a way that feels supportive and sustainable for you. As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here. …and remember, it all starts with a dream

God doesn't rush His work in us—He grows us little by little. In this episode, we explore God's patience, grace, and purpose through the life of Peter, showing how Jesus uses our natural gifts, restores us after failure, and calls us to move beyond words into obedient action. This message is a reminder that wisdom comes from applying God's Word, that failure isn't final, and that God is faithfully shaping us step by step.
In this episode of Wisdom's Table, I invite you to join me as I delve into a profound revelation I recently experienced during my time with the Lord. We explore the theme of expansion principles in the Bible, particularly focusing on a powerful passage from Exodus 23:29-30. I begin by sharing the context of this scripture, where God speaks to the Israelites about their journey into the Promised Land, a land filled with challenges but also abundant blessings. God reassures them that He will not drive out their enemies all at once, but rather little by little, to ensure that they are strong enough to take possession of the land without it becoming desolate or overrun by wild animals. This concept of gradual expansion resonates deeply with our modern-day struggles, as we often find ourselves fixated on immediate goals and quick results. God didn't just redeem His people to obey Him—He redeemed them to walk with Him. In Exodus 23, we see that God leads, protects, and provides through His presence, sending His angel to guard and guide His people on the journey. Along the way, He calls them to trust His process, remembering that His blessings often come through obedience and that His work unfolds not all at once, but through steady growth—little by little.

We're celebrating something BIG today… Episode 180 of Organizing with Ease! When I first started this podcast, it was co-hosted — just two women, two mics, and a lot of coffee. Then life shifted, and I had to decide: stop or keep going solo. And I chose to keep going, little by little. Week after week, step by step, here we are — 180 episodes later. And that's exactly what this milestone episode is all about: how to keep making progress when life feels full. Because let's be honest — October is busy. School, sports, deadlines, and holidays creeping closer. And the temptation is to say, “I'll wait for the perfect time.” But as research, real-life stories, and even some funny sayings remind us — progress doesn't come from giant leaps. It comes from small, consistent steps. In this episode, you'll learn: Why small, daily actions matter more than rare, giant efforts. What the Harvard Business Review and Stanford research say about the power of “little by little.” Why the Mayo Clinic believes daily low-intensity actions reduce stress better than bursts of effort. Client stories about garages, photos, and yes… even junk drawers, all transformed in just minutes a day. The quotes that keep me grounded, like: “A year from now, you'll wish you had started today.” – Karen Lamb “Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.” – Vincent Van Gogh “Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.” – Unknown By the end of this episode, you'll be ready to identify one area in your home or life to tackle in just 10 minutes a day — and you'll see how powerful that can be. ✨ Your October Challenge Calendar To make this fun and doable, I've created a free October Challenge Calendar you can download right now. It's filled with simple, daily prompts to help you stay consistent this season. Today's Promise: Exodus 23:29-30 Right now, God is working in your life to give you victory. He doesn't give it to you all at once. He works little by little to transform you into the likeness of Jesus. When God told the Children of Israel about the promised land, He promised to drive out their enemies. God would go before them, and He would fight their battles. However, He would do so little by little. God works little by little in your life. He leads you one step at a time.
