"Chloe turned to me and said I'm never going to dance on this stage again, am I? Like she knew, it was really sad," remembers Christi as she looks back on her last ALDC Annual Dance Concert. On "45 Second Solos", Chloe doesn't even get a chance to shine as she's put on medical rest due to her fracturing her foot suddenly offscreen. Of course it didn't seem that way to viewers as the cover story for her eye problem in the week prior was a foot problem as well, so now it just comes across as Christi and Chloe being a little shifty on screen, leading to accusations off screen of faking it for the camera (more on that in this week's Producer Notes).Abby gives the girls a challenge: perform a 45 second solo of "their choosing" (as in the Producer's choosing) before the actual recital this week to determine who will get a solo at Nationals. To add some drama, Abby brings in Kamryn as Chloe's replacement. Christi is still made at Abby for trying to convince the judges in a previous competition to throw out Chloe's win in favor of Kamryn, so this development doesn't sit well. And to make matters worse, multiple fights break out between the moms... they just mostly happen off camera (again, lot of stuff in the Producer's Notes this week).But Abby has a solution to ease everyone's tension... a dunk tank! "That is one of the dances I pull out and show people to say I had to do this on national television when I was 13," according to Chloe; so despite what the actual results of this week's competition say; we're in for a real stinker this week!As the second half of "Another One Bites the Dust" gets underway at DanceKidsUSA, Cathy makes a surprise appearance... ok well the moms knew she would be there, but Abby was none the wiser and is immediately displeased. She attempts to put on a good face and ignore Cathy's barbs, but it's begins to dawn on Abby that production may be up to something with Cathy (Nationals are around the corner after all). Offscreen Abby gets her jabs in by talking over Lucas' solo entree, which rightfully riles up Cathy.Meanwhile Nia stuns with her tribute solo to Maya Angelou, which for many fans is often remembered as one of Nia's best. But despite being equally praised by the judges, the same cannot be said of the group routine: The Seven Dancers. Maybe it's the t-shirts, the awkward black belts or the bizarre headpieces... but anyway you look at it, it's a pretty bad dance. Did you like this dance? Get ready for the ultimate Dance Moms reunion night with Christi & Kelly!

"We're getting into the end of Christi Lukasiak days on Dance Moms, and I'm feeling a type of way about it." reflects Christi as each week it becomes clearer and clearer the series of events that finally broke the camel's back. And on the first half of "Another One Bites the Dust" Abby is just adding fuel to that fire as she takes aim at Chloe's injury. Of course at this time Christi says they didn't even know what was wrong with Chloe's eye, so instead she offered-up the excuse of a foot injury so Chloe could make her hospital appointments. Abby of course is mad, go figure! If it wasn't bad enough that Abby would eventually make fun of Chloe's eye anyways, Chloe is close to actually injuring her foot as well! It's going to be a rough last couple of weeks for the Lukasiaks that's for certain.But if that wasn't bad enough, Abby decides the girls should get a lighter week before Nationals and assigns a Seven Dwarves themed group number. Aside from the fact they'll only have two days to rehearse the number, every girls is also given a cringe inducing character and outfit that's sure to help! However the bigger question on everyone's mind is who is going to make the cut for nationals? "Apparently something is going to happen at the end of this episode that goes on into Season 5. And they never show any of it. So I'm gonna unlock that little tea!" promises Christi, and deliver she will as our beautiful Bitches round the corner into the second half of "The Understudies".The ALDC arrives at Sheer Talent greeted by Cathy's lovely insults over the intercom. Abby is already frustrated enough with Cathy and, as if pre-ordained, announces Maddie will be performing her solo despite Jill's best efforts to get Kendall the spotlight. Cathy's only competition for Maddie is Gino, despite the two being in separate age categories so are they really competing? And does it really matter if Cathy seems bent on sabotaging Gino's chances by putting him in THAT outfit?The rest of the moms are fed up with their daughters being sidelined and an argument erupts over the white board tallies. Abby does not like her methods being questioned and argues the moms never complained about it before the show... despite her teaching style and time commitment with these girls being completely different at this time! Christi points out that the rest of the girls are used as fodder to prop up Maddie, and Abby silently storms out. Seemingly in retaliation, she pulls the group number from the competition, leaving only Maddie's solo as the sole ALDC performance of the evening. But is that what really happened? Did Abby go to such lengths over a petty argument? Surely there have been more severe fights at this point that never warranted such measures. "No one from Dance Moms has ever talked about this, so this is like real behind the scenes tea." remarks Christi, so you know it's going to be a must-listen. But even more enticing is the fact that Kelly's back! And just in time to cover the first half of "The Understudies" as Abby's continued insults results in the moms keeping a running tally.After Maddie's surprise solo appearance at last week's competition, Abby sticks her right back at the top of the pyramid. Abby could have given Nia (who led the group to 1st) the top spot but some habits die hard I guess. Abby is more preoccupied with the fact the ALDC is facing off against Cathy's Candy Apples this week and her star player is preoccupied with other media appearances. Just in case Maddie's schedule might wisk her away to Miami, Chloe and Kendall are assigned as her understudies. Chloe also gets the rough end of Abby's barbs during group rehearsal after coming to practice injured, but there's also more to that story the cameras couldn't capture.Of course Abby doesn't miss a chance to brag about Maddie's good fortune, but her bragging quickly leads to more insults towards the other girls. Fed up with the negative comparisons to Maddie, the moms begin a running tally of how often each girl get unfavorably compared to her. "I can't imagine you're watching Dance Moms every night, you know for fun!" Christi remarks to Ed Phelan, an OG Dance Moms choreographer who returns to the Barre this week after a two year hiatus to check-in on Christi and Kelly as they tackle Season 4's "No More Crybabies". With Nationals quickly approaching Abby begins to shift focus on to who will be getting solos and whose going to be left on the sidelines. She assigns Mackenzie, Select team member Tea, and Sarah H solos to see who will get cut from consideration. "It is Season 4 Episode 24, and it's called Abby-phobic. Hhhhmmmm, I'm Abby-phobic." remarks Christi, and considering the raw deal Chloe gets this week that Abby-phobia is going to be out in full force soon enough.This week the girls are set to attend Imagine National Dance Challenge, a competition primarily set-up to avoid having the ALDC at the standard Star dance Alliance Competitions. This does however mean the ALDC is set to face off against Studio Bleu, Abby's worst nightmare. She panics and throws out the current group dance, convinced they're going to lose no matter what and so as to not waste another competition's sure-fire winning dance. Instead, Abby begins to focus on the pre-teen categories so as to avoid competing with Studio Bleu all-together. But will the team have time to figure out a new routine in time for competition?Abby is also intent on propping up Maddie whenever possible as the Chandelier coverage has been heating up. In case Maddie needs to fly to LA at a moments notice, Jade from the Select Team is brought in as a temporary team member and Mackenzie is benched to age up the group overall.. Loree, Jade's mom, is worried over Abby's handling of the group routine. The funny thing is Maddie isn't even present for most of the first half of "3 Soloists, One Star", but it's Maddie's world and we're just living in it. "It was the most unhinged 15 minutes I've ever witnessed in my life," recounts Christi in reference to "The Sandwich Incident". But the incident happened entirely off-screen! It's one of Christi's most cherished Dance Moms memories, one she has thought about monthly for over a decade! So on the first half of "Kiss or Get Off the Pot", come for Abby's insistence of making children do things they're uncomfortable with, stay for a classic behind the scenes Abby meltdown.The Select team is out this week so the production doesn't have to pay them, but Sarah H and Christy stick around to claim the top spot on the Pyramid. The rest of the placements seem arbitrary at best, Abby is mostly upset that the girls cried after coming in second. The moms point out their attitude probably had more to do with their teacher making a separate team to upstage them after they were on a long win streak.Abby announces they're going to be going head to head once again with Cathy at In10city Dance in Ohio. To spite Cathy she enlists the help of Gino, one of Cathy's former dancers, to perform a duet with Maddie. While the pairing was obviously designed with Maddie, Abby holds auditions for the duet to give the appearance of fairness, but ends up just insulting most of the girls until she arrives at Maddie anyways. Maddie does not like that Abby is insisting she kiss Gino for the performance as it'll be her first kiss, but Abby seems dead set on making it happen for some reason.The other thing Abby is dead set on is making it clear she was on Dancing with the Stars. "Alright, so this is going to descend into hell very quickly," remarks Christi as the inevitable confrontation between the moms and the Select team comes to fruition on the second half of "Double the Moms, Double the Trouble". The teams arrive at Sheer Talent and Abby's differing treatment of the two teams becomes more visually apparent as the girls receive their costumes. The Select team is blessed with intricate outfits while, as Holly puts it, the Elite team got stuck with $10 pajamas. But Abby continues to downplay and excuse the circumstances, though is more than happy to celebrate the Elite team playing second fiddle to her new dancers as the Select team takes first.The moms are content to say congratulations and walk away, but Production is not content to let our moms off the hook (not so long as there is drama to be had). The new moms attempts to stir the pot even manage to set Holly off, which the edit manages to frame as Holly getting mad at Maddie somehow! “I didn't really think about that I was going to be brought up,” laments Kelly, who forgot that even though she's out for the count doesn't mean she gets out of being the main subject of Season 4's first reunion. I mean how could Abby possibly turn down a chance to celebrate her getting her way?Jeff Collins welcomes Abby to the stage and they cover what a hard time it's been for Abby with the loss of her mother, making Abby the last surviving member of her family. She espouses about the need to be able to cry and work through your feeling when you're dealing with loss, though this is not a courtesy she often extends to others. The topic switches to the slap heard around the world, and Abby exclaims that while she can be harsh she didn't deserve to be treated like that.Enter Christ, who points out that Abby was being aggressive and instigated the fight. While Abby takes offense to the assertion, Jeff believes the situation has brought the moms together and Christi herself seems somewhat more emboldened than she was prior. Though as Christi notes, that's not really the case at all, they're just more targets for Abby to refocus her energy on.Jeff attempts to bring Melissa out to challenge Christi on her assertions that Maddie lied about the solo incident, but Christi snaps and walks off stage. She is determined not to be set up to fail alone and brings in the rest of the moms as back up. Will the moms be able to patch up some of their differences… I mean is Santa real?! The only solace the team gets from Christy is going to a "bar" where she won't go due to the alcohol. However Kira and Tracey are unable to reconcile their differences and the meeting ends in tears. Meanwhile Melissa is trying to play both sides, pledging loyalty to the OG's while still not willing to spy on the Elite team for them.Competition day arrives and the ALDC dances are all over the place. Kendall and Kalani's "Rule the World" lands with a thud while Ava and Sarah R's "Birds of a Feather Flock Together" gets a mild reception. Better off are Kamryn and Chloe's solos which perform exceptionally well. Chloe's "Lucky Star" remains a favorite, showcasing how much work she put in to prove herself in a team where she's being increasingly singled out as a target. However, behind the scenes Abby was working to once again pull the spotlight off a Chloe. On camera Abbys sabotage is clearly visible in the team's dueling group dances. To add to the drama, Abby insists the girls all wear white costumes for the group number this week that already own, but Kelly just so happens to have two of them and Abby leaves it up to the moms to get them back. When Christi pushes back it results in a a slew of F-bombs that Abby does not want to hear. But was there more to this outburst than meets the eye? According to Christi there is a lot the cameras didn't show this week, and a lot of it was pretty bad to warrant a call to her own attorney.Meanwhile Cathy is back with the routine she pulled from competition two weeks prior, now more confident it's in tip top shape to beat the ALDC. It's a lot of pressure for Mackenzie who has to suffer through Abby's constant comparisons between the two. Meanwhile Chloe takes the third solo, a contemporary called Follow You. On "No Solo For You", the ALDC travels to Detroit for Masters of Dance Arts with a group routine centered around the fall of Detroit's automotive industry? It's certainly... a choice, but I guess it wouldn't be an ALDC dance without Abby's "unique" takes. Meanwhile Abby assigns solos to Maddie and Kendall. There was a notable lack of a solo for Kalani, which Kira immediately takes issue with. Abby insists Kira is overreacting, but everyone else knows that Abby can't let her star pupil lose. At the very least she could help Kendall... or she can be incredibly rude, same difference! The tole of Abby's behavior begins to weight on Kendall, who struggles to make it through her rehearsal that Abby admits to half-watching.Holly publishes her first book and the ALDC attends a book signing party. "I dislike Abby but that is no news for anyone who is watching," remarks Christi as Abby continues to prod in the hopes she will be the next to leave on "Nothing's Fair in Abbyville". But unfortunately for both of them Christi still has a season left in her, so Abby settles on belittling Kendall this week.Mackenzie and the Zieglers are in Los Angeles recording Mackenzie's first single. To fill the Maddie shaped hole int he group dance Abby holds a dance off between the girls that Kendall wins. And despite commenting what a great opportunity this position is for Kendall to prove her worth, Abby has no intention of letting Kendall actually take Maddie's place. In fact she desperately works to get Maddie back in time for competition, claiming she never actually promised Kendall the part... so what was the dance off for?Meanwhile Kira and Kalani continue to settle into the team dynamic. Kira worries that Abby is going to set her daughter up to compete with Maddie, but the moms point out that Kalani is so good that Abby would never dare pit her against Maddie. Any situation where Maddie might lose is strictly off limits. Kalani might be the ALDC's best dancer, but Abby didn't train her so she can't flex her too much.Kelly calls in to organize a lunch with Christi, whom production forces to invite the rest of the moms including Kalani. What will prove to be Kelly's final appearance on-screen is rather quaint as she's still happy to be off the team, despite how much the production wanted the situation to start drama (why else would you invite Kalani). "It felt like the show as we knew it was over, and it was!" Christi's prognosis certainly proved to be right, but on "Wingman Down" the rest of the ALDC acts like it's business as usual. Though there is a Kelly, Paige and Brooke shaped hole in the team you'd be hard pressed to tell anyone was upset over the matter. Kelly points out again that Melissa had some blame to take but Jill and Holly insist on trying to keep the peace.Abby welcomes Kira and Kalani onto the team as Kelly's replacement, stating that Kelly has been arrested (she wasn't) and is no longer welcome. Melissa tries to get the group started on the right foot and invites everyone over to he house for cheese and wine. The only absentee? Christi obviously! The show begins to present Christi as distant from the team, which is both partially true because she didn't want to pretend nothing had happened, and also heightened by the show's editing to imply it was worse than it really was.Meanwhile Holly is dedicated to making Nia's rare instance of having solo count, but Abby still won't give Nia the time of day. Instead Abby is out helping Mackenzie get set up to be Mac Z, singer and performer extraordinaire! When she does make time for Nia it's to tell her she's not being enough like Maddie. The problem boils over when Nia suffers a costuming mishap with her hat on stage, which not only bodes unwell for Nia but somehow Christi gets in trouble? "Out of the two of them, who do you think is the good witch and the bad witch? I would say Cathy's the good witch, Abby is definitely the bad witch!" It's ironic on the eve of the release of the Wicked movie that we get an episode that heavily centers on wicked witches, though the biggest witch of the all according to our bitches here can't even see the writing on the wall!The episode opens with Payton getting "cut" from the team (can you really be cut if you were never officially on the team?). After three weeks at the bottom of the Pyramid and last week's broken ankle debacle, tensions were running high between Abby and Leslie so Payton was ultimately asked to leave, for now at least. Refocusing on the team, Abby seems to not care too much that the group brought home. victory at the last competition and starts to work the girls against one another. Chloe and Kendall are each given a solo with the intent of settling who truly deserves to be Abby's number 2.Cathy returns with an all boy's team to spice up the competition, which send Abby into an angry spiral. To push back against her nemesis Abby decides the group dance will be about witches, with Maddie portraying a "good witch" as a stand in for Abby. Meanwhile Christi and Jill prep their daughter's solos and the moms start to get a little heated with one another. "My group should be 10 points above anyone else... Hold on, the group was 10 points above!" Perhaps it's just because things are about to get much worse but it's quite funny how in-stride our bitches handle some of Abby's most convoluted hoop jumps yet to make their children look bad on the second half of "Abby Strikes Back".First to deal with Abby however is Jill, who along with Kendall is absent at the beginning of competition. This is all for show as everyone knew behind the scenes that Jill was long expected not to be immediately present and Kendall wasn't given a solo for that very reason. But Abby knows the audience isn't aware of that and uses' Jill's absence to threaten Kendall with being replaced.As performances get underway Payton seemingly breaks her ankle and claims she's in an immense amount of pain. It's not clear at this point what the cause of her fall was, but Leslie worries this will put Payton first in line on the chopping block (since when is she on the team?). The group immediately begins to prep for the number without Payton, with Abby reminded them that they are all replaceable just in case they forgot.During awards we discover that while the group performed well, they didn't live up to Abby's standards... except they did? In a very confusing twist of logic Abby aims to throw everyone under the bus other than Maddie and Mackenzie, despite every other dance technically performing better point-wise. "I feel that every Dance Moms episode from this point forwards should just be called like Abby Hates Us or Abby Screws Us Over." says Christi as Abby begins to push her luck by asking the moms to start promoting online to find replacements FOR THEMSELVES on Season 4's "Abby Strikes Back".The first open auditions for the ALDC are this week and Abby has not been making it easy for anyone, except for the Ziegler family of course as Abby states Maddy is the only child not up for replacement. Abby requests that the moms start promoting the auditions on twitter, which Holly calls out for being callous since who would want to help ensure their own demise? As we noted in the last episode this simply wasn't true and all it serves to do is pit the moms against one another instead of Abby.The Orlando auditions get underway with the Zieglers attending to help scout talent, however no other family agreed to do this for the same reason they wouldn't promote it. But Abby begins antagonizing some of the moms who get snippy with her, going as far to start singling out their children for ridicule and blaming their parents. "I am not a Dance Moms fan. I hate watching it!" mourns Christi, as even when she does nothing at all production manages to spin a scenario to get her in trouble with Abby. As the second half of "Two Can Play This Game" gets underway there is some confusion about the line-up of solo performances at competition. Jill had been under the impression that Kendall would be performing last, but Kendall is actually first up. Christi is also concerned about Chloe's placement and what the cameras don't show is that production explicitly told the moms the wrong performance order. While Christi admits she would personally prefer Chloe to perform last, she takes issue with how the show frames the matter as it will be used against her in the near future.But Abby personally is only concerned about showing up Cathy, so much so that when Leslie starts to argue in the audience Abby orders Leslie to shut up. Leslie cannot comprehend why Abby is treating her with disrespect, somehow not realizing this is what the rest of the moms always go through. While the ALDC performs well with the judges Abby keeps up the criticisms, because some things never change no matter how much you do what Abby wants! The only reasoning seems to be that it'll make Jill upset with Christi and set-up a solo face off between Chloe and Kendall at this week's competition. But these mind games take second place to Abby's primary focus, the return of Cathy and her Candy Apples.Cathy is determined to take back the limelight after loosing to Abby at nationals, but Cathy's team has had more time to prep since they don't have to film a TV show.
