EP.67--HEAT STOLE A GAME IN DENVER, SERIES TIED 1-1 by Dexter
The dramatic Celtics-Heat Eastern Conference finals series reached a bit of an anticlimactic blowout win for Miami. The Heat defeated Boston 103-84 to advance to the NBA Finals against the Denver Nuggets. The Heat will not be the first NBA team to blow a 3-0 series lead. Instead, they'll become just the second No. 8 seed to reach the Finals. Miami will face the Nuggets in the NBA Finals, which is set to begin Thursday June 1st. The Heat last played for the title in 2020.
The Lakers are down 0-2 to the Nuggets. History say, Lakers haven't won best of seven game series since 2004, and are 2-19 in Lakers history being down 0-2 in the playoffs. Nuggets are now 8-0 at home and the Lakers are 6-0 at home, something has to give right?
The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended Ja Morant from all team activities after a video showing the star guard holding a gun began circulating on social media Saturday night. The Grizzlies announced the suspension, which is pending a league review, in a statement Sunday, two months after the NBA suspended Morant over a similar incident. The team did not provide further comment. "We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information," NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said in a statement Sunday. On Saturday, during an Instagram Live session on Morant's friend Davonte Pack's account, the All-Star flashed a handgun while driving and singing along with a NBA Youngboy rap song. The video has since been deleted.
This series is ready to shift to Los Angeles and both teams left San Francisco somewhat satisfied. The Lakers snatched a game on the road. The Warriors avoided losing two at home. Kick with us as we break down game 2 in this historic playoff series.
The Phoenix Suns have acquired forwards Kevin Durant and T.J. Warren from the Brooklyn Nets in a four-team trade with the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers. Brooklyn received forwards Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, multiple first-round picks (2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029) and a first-round pick swap in 2028 from Phoenix, as well as second-round picks from Milwaukee, in the exchange. As part of the deal, veteran forward Jae Crowder heads to the Bucks, with Indiana also netting second-round picks while taking on players into its cap space. The 34-year-old Durant is still playing at an elite level, averaging nearly 30 points per game this season. Durant and the Suns were linked to trade rumors over the past summer, but nothing materialized until Wednesday. The trade comes just hours after new Suns majority owner Mat Ishbia was introduced in Phoenix. The self-described basketball nut, who was a walk-on at Michigan State under Tom Izzo, didn't waste any time shaking up the NBA. The move from Brooklyn to Phoenix was a collaborative one between Durant's camp and the Nets. The move to the Suns was something both sides were interested in pursuing and he and the Nets left on good terms.
One day after Kyrie issued a carefully-worded statement that stopped short of the words “I'm sorry” in relation to a link he posted to an antisemitic film, Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving was asked at practice today whether he holds any antisemitic views. “Again, I'm going to repeat. I don't know how the label becomes justified because you guys ask me the same questions over and over again,” Irving said. “But this is not going to turn into a spin-around cycle — questions upon questions. “I told you guys how I felt. I respect all walks of life and embrace all walks of life. That's where I sit…I cannot be antisemitic if I know where I come from.”
The Lakers celebrated their first win like a championship after a 0-5 start. In the episode, we are going to talk about the Lakers future and lies ahead of their brutal schedule. The Los Angeles Lakers' winless start has been the biggest story of the new NBA season so far. The Lakers dropped their first five games until finally getting win No. 1 against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, securing a 121-110 home win behind strong performances from LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook.
In this week's episode I'll talk about the latest news surrounding Russell Westbrook and his future. The Lakers seriously considered trading Westbrook and unprotected first-round draft picks in 2027 and '29 to the Pacers for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield. I'm going to break down what if the Lakers don't trade for Myles and Buddy, stay tuned!
In this week's episode I'll talk about the latest in the Draymond Green, Warriors, Jordan Poole situation. Is Draymond Green days numbered as a Warrior?
Ime Udoka suspended for multiple policy violations. The suspension runs through June 30, 2023, and assistant Joe Mazzulla will lead the team as interim coach for the 2022-23 season.
Reports continue to swirl that Kyrie Irving might be on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers, with a trade involving him and Russell Westbrook apparently in the works. There is still a lot of time left in the offseason. But the Lakers organization is reportedly optimistic that a swap between the two former All-Stars could be finalized sooner than later. There are details that the two teams are attempting to work out, such as who else and what else will be included in the deal. The Nets reportedly want to include Joe Harris in order to make salaries match, but the Lakers would prefer to receive Seth Curry.
Curry, Warriors Grab a Piece of History Stephen Curry and the Warriors are champions again. A dynasty derailed by injuries and free-agency departures, it felt at one point as though the Warriors' championship window had closed. Yet when the dust settled in Boston on Thursday night, it was Golden State back on top, champions of the world, completing a multiyear process that saw the Warriors retool, deal with devastating injuries and reimagine themselves as champions again. This years belongs to the Warriors, with a title that somehow feels like it means more than the first three. After climbing the mountain a second time, Golden State has officially etched its place in the record books as one of the sport's all-time great teams and Curry one of the best players to ever suit up.
Andrew Wiggins delivers in Game 5, pouring in 26 points and grabbing 13 boards to help Golden State take a 3-2 Finals lead.He is unlikely to win Finals MVP, may never live up to being a No. 1 overall pick, all that. But just as well, Andrew Wiggins in this postseason has undergone a basketball image cleansing. None of those sins that saddled him prior to now are causing permanent stains anymore. The Warriors look smart today, not only because they're a win away from a fourth championship in the Curry Era, but for what they did just over two years ago: trade for a player nobody wanted, a player his former team couldn't wait to unload, a player who walked in the door at his new place of employment carrying a heavy contract in one hand and baggage in the other. That player today has chopped up the Celtics' main weapon, emphatically delivered on back-to-back games in this series, and hasn't blinked once in the bright lights. That player would be Wiggins, who has 43 points and 29 rebounds in the last two games and has Jayson Tatum mumbling to himself.
Stephen Curry 'wills' Golden State Warriors to victory with 43 points in Game 4. "Felt like we just had to let everybody know that we were here tonight," Curry said. "Whether that's their crowd, their team, our team, whoever wants to see that energy and that fire, we feed off of that." Curry finished with 43 points on 14-of-26 shooting, including seven 3-pointers, and added 10 rebounds and four assists. He became just the fifth guard in NBA history to have at least 40 points and 10 rebounds in a Finals game.
The Boston Celtics are back in control of the NBA Finals, now just two wins from championship No. 18 . The Celtics blew an 18-point advantage, but quickly responded after the Warriors took a brief lead midway through the third quarter. And a 9-2 run to open the fourth gave Boston the separation that eventually led to a comfortable victory. Jaylen Brown (27), Jayson Tatum (26) and Marcus Smart (24) combined for 77 points, and it was Golden State that had the bigger turnover problem on this night.
Golden State Warriors roars back, Draymond Green sets the tone and sends a message to the Boston Celtics in Game 2 win. Green promised after Game 1 that everything would be different. He said the Celtics needed to "feel" him more, and he went out and unleashed chaos and havoc. Jaylen Brown was his primary defensive assignment, and Brown went 5-for-17 from the field, but that was just the start of it. There were countless possessions in which Green, perhaps the smartest defender in these NBA Finals, ended up guarding three or four different Celtics. He seemed to turn up everywhere he was needed.
After yet another ugly third quarter in a playoffs full of them for the Boston Celtics, it looked to all the world like the Golden State Warriors were on their way to claiming Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Chase Center on Thursday night. But then the fourth quarter started. And, after an avalanche of Celtics 3-pointers, this game -- and series -- was completely turned on its head. Boston hit its first seven 3-pointers to open the fourth and outscored Golden State 40-16 to stun the Warriors 120-108. In doing so, Boston became the first team in NBA Finals history to win by double-digits after entering the fourth quarter trailing by double-digits
NEW YORK CITY has lifted the vaccine mandate for athletes and performers, which means starting Sunday against the Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving is eligible to play home games for the first time this season. The change in Irving's status arrives just in time for the Nets, who play six of their last eight games at home (with a road matchup against the New York Knicks mixed in). Had the mandate gone unchanged, Irving would have been eligible to play only one more game this regular season. Instead he can play all eight as Brooklyn looks to hold off Charlotte for eighth in the Eastern Conference and maintain a slightly easier play-in path to the playoffs.
Game after game, the Boston Celtics pick up momentum in their quest for Banner 18. The narrative has shifted from whether the team should break up star forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to how high in the standings can the team climb by the end of the season — and now it is shifting to whether the Celtics can actually win the NBA title for the 2021-22 season. Both the local and national media are taking note, fascinated by the transformation taking place before their eyes
The Lakers have lost 12 of their last 16 games to fall to 30-40. James is having a phenomenal individual season with 29.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game, but injuries to Anthony Davis and struggles on both ends from Russell Westbrook and other teammates have put the Lakers in danger of missing the play-in tournament if the slide continues. L.A.'s team defense has notably taken a dramatic slide. After finishing first in efficiency in 2020-21, the Lakers have fallen to 16th in 2021-22
NBA Twitter reacts to brutal dunk contest: ‘Let's never talk about it again' That pretty much sums up things as far on Saturday events, but Sunday's All Star Game was different.
Put some respect on the Suns' name, they are the best in NBA. The Phoenix Suns are not getting enough credit. This is a team that has won 10 in a row — the last seven of those without their starting center — and at 40-9 has the best record in the NBA. They are the only team with a top-five offensive and defensive rating for the season. They are the best clutch team in the NBA at 19-3 (in games within five points in the final five minutes). They have NBA Finals experience to build upon. Yet it feels as if many fans treat them as a perfunctory add-on when talking about title contenders (“Oh, and the Suns, I guess”). Based on Caesar Sports Bet Book, the Suns are the third favorite to win the title (+650), behind a Nets team that is both banged up and never found its identity this season, and a slumping and injured Warriors team. Phoenix absolutely can win the title. If the playoffs started today, it would be the obvious choice.
Harden is reportedly unhappy in Brooklyn and reportedly not thrilled with actually living in Brooklyn. He's reportedly "disappointed" with head coach Steve Nash's late-game strategies, and frustrated by teammate Kyrie Irving only playing part time due to his refusal to be vaccinated against COVID-19. James Harden will test free agency this summer for the first time in his career. I'll break down all option, stay tuned
Harrell was reportedly upset that KCP didn't pass him the ball, perhaps on the final play of the first half which led to an argument in the tunnel, which then led to both Montrezl and KCP exchanging punches that didn't connect.
The Lakers are struggling despite players being injured or on the health and safety protocol list. The Big 3 seems like its not working as yet in the city of angles. Can Lebron James and company pull off miracle to win the chip? ill break down the Lakers season so far, stay tuned

Eighteen former NBA players were charged Thursday with pocketing about $2.5 million illegally by defrauding the league's health and welfare benefit plan in a scam that authorities said involved claiming fictitious medical and dental expenses. According to an indictment returned in Manhattan federal court, the former players teamed up to defraud the supplemental coverage plan by submitting fraudulent claims to get reimbursed for medical and dental procedures that never happened.
Lillard and Beal still likely have both of their feet in Portland and Washington, respectively. As for Ben Simmons, he probably already has his bags packed and is just raring to get out of Philadelphia. Philly likely still wants to fix the situation, but the 3-time All-Star probably doesn't want anything to do with that. The Sixers-Simmons relationship has reportedly gone sour and it has apparently reached the point of no return. With that, Philly has reportedly tried to shop Simmons. However, their asking price is a little too high for teams interested in landing former no. 1 overall pick. In addition, Simmons' reportedly prefers to go to one of the “California teams.” This sparked rumors of the Warriors making a push for the 25-year old stud. However, Dubs fans are concerned with Simmons' fit, especially alongside a non-scoring threat in Draymond Green. Simmons and Green offer the same skillset, with their playmaking ability and elite and versatile defense. Many feel like they would overlap and their presence on the floor together would limit the space for Stephen Curry to operate and make his magic. Furthermore, Simmons' inability and unwillingness to shoot continues to be one of the knocks of his game and his lack of development on that aspect has been quite a major concern.
Dennis Schroder reportedly turned down a four-year, $84 million contract extension from the Lakers back in March. Dennis Schröder was with the Los Angeles Lakers for only one year, but the team tried to lock him down for an additional four years at the end of last season, reportedly offering to pay him $84 million. The point guard ultimately decided to decline the offer and test his price on the free agency market, which did not work out in his favor. As you may know, Schröder ended up signing a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics, worth $5.9 million.
Team USA men's basketball beats France to win fourth straight gold medal at Tokyo Olympics and held off France, 87-82, in the final at Saitama Super Arena on Saturday. France settled for silver, as it did in 1948 and 2000.
The NBA's triple-double machine will team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in Los Angeles to form the latest and newest BIG3. The Los Angeles Lakers are wasting no time making changes after a disappointing first-round EXIT in the 2021 playoffs. The trade can't be officially announced until Aug. 6, when the salary cap becomes official.
What a show Giannis put on in game 6 in Milwaukee. Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks are crowned the 2021 NBA Champions. One of the best performance by the Giannis Antetokounmpo aka 'The Greek Freak' to go down in NBA Finals history. I'll breakdown a historical night by Giannis and the collapse by the Phoenix Suns.

Giannis Antetokounmpo added 26 PTS, 14 REB and 8 AST for the Bucks in the victory, while Devin Booker tallied a game-high 42 PTS for the Suns, while CP3 struggled in game 4 with his worst performance, now series is now tied, 2-2.
