This week on the Atlantic Files podcast, Ben Simmons returned to Philadelphia to take on the 76ers, injuries are mounting for the Sixers with Tyrese Maxey also out, RJ Barrett has been struggling mightily this season, Giannis Antetokounmpo got in a fight with Montrezl Harrell and a ladder, Paul Reed has been balling, Kemba Walker is headed to the Dallas Mavericks, Karl Anthony Towns is hurt, and more! We're back after the Thanksgiving break so of course, we had to talk about the Philadelphia 76ers taking on the Brooklyn Nets and Ben Simmons' first regular season game back in Philly. The game should have been a blowout as the Sixers had their big three on the sidelines, but the sixers won easily. Simmons had a good game, but Paul Reed had an even better one. Speaking of Paul Reed, he's now on his victory tour again. Doc Rivers is finally listening to the hype as Reed gets more playing time and proves why he's worthy of it. He's had some great games with Joel Embiid out and even continued the defensive energy as a backup. RJ Barrett has been struggling mightily lately. His issues are indicative of the whole team's issues, however, a lot of this starts with one of their main three offensive options. Barrett hasn't been able to shoot well at all and has new lows in a lot of categories across the board. Is this just a rut or will he continue to struggle in this system and lose more games for the Knicks? Another older topic that we didn't get a chance to comment on was laddergate with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Montrezl Harrell after the Milwaukee Bucks dropped a game in Philly. This has to be one of the dumbest and funniest bits of drama in the NBA. Everyone involved in this should have just gone home and called it a night, but instead, we had everyone talking bout who's morally right or wrong. Then, in around the league news, Karl Anthony Towns is out for 4-to-6 weeks with a lower leg injury. Also, Kemba Walker is coming back to the league as he's joining the Dallas Mavericks. What are the impacts of both of these events? Finally, we have our weekly fantasy basketball and whatchu got segments! Big weekend of NBA: we had Giannis Antetokounmpo and Montrezl Harrell having the dumbest argument of the year and the Greek Freak karate chopping a ladder? In addition to our new partnership with Underdog Fantasy, we are also excited to announce that YKB regular Sam Sheehan (@NBABabySecret) will be joining You Know Ball as the full time co-host. No, this is not a bit. We are being serious. He is the new YKB co-host. In his first episode as co-host Sam and I talked about the shit show that is the Brooklyn Nets. Yesterday it was announced that head coach Steve Nash would be fired after the team started the season 2-5. Then less than two hours later it was announced that suspended Celtics coach Ime Udoka would be the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets. Oh, and by the way Kyrie posted some anti Semitic movie on Twitter and did not apologize for it. And Ben Simmons has missed back to back games after an awful start. Probably nothing. Can the Nets season be salvaged? Meanwhile the Sixers have won three in a row to get back to .500 on the season! Tyrese Maxey scored a career high vs. the Toronto Raptors (again lol), Joel Embiid hit a game winner and remains undefeated vs. the Chicago Bulls and James Harden destroyed the Washington Wizards. The team is 2-0 without Joel Embiid which I did not think was possible? Are we smelling some Ewing Theory potential here House?? Also the NBA did some dumb tampering charges against the Sixers where they lost second round picks in 2023 & 2024 so we talked about that as well. Montrezl Harrell has been surprisingly good? De'Anthony Melton is a god level role player. The Sixers are a good team and should have a better record. It's still fire Doc Rivers til I die. Then we talk about the team we love to hate the most, the Miami Heat! We talked about the Heat potentially missing their window to contend after their (now) 3-5 start that the NBA media seems to be conveniently ignoring? But Jimmy Butler still thinks they are going to be NBA champions still? After making fun of them for a little we discussed how the Heat can salvage the Butler era and actually get back into the championship conversation. Enjoy! On an all-new episode of the “Out of Sight” podcast, hosted by Adio Royster and Dave Early, the pair talk about the Sixers' 118-111 win over the Washington Wizards. They didn't have Joel Embiid, but it wasn't a problem. Adio and Dave talk about how good Tyrese Maxey and James Harden looked leading the charge. And how there's a general faith in this team that wasn't there in prior seasons to win these no-Joel games. We give some credit to P.J. Tucker, Georges Niang, and Montrezl Harrell for that. And De'Anthony Melton played his best offensive game in the uniform, looking comfortable as a two-way player. Don't forget to rate, review and subscribe to the Liberty Ballers podcast network. On tonight's episode of The Gastroenteritis Blues, Steve, Dan and Drew (no Emily, sadly) discuss the Sixers' disappointing start to the season after consecutive losses to the Celtics and Bucks. What has contributed to Joel Embiid's especially poor beginning to the season, and how much of a cause for concern should it be for Sixers fans? How much should fans read into Embiid's body language and moping on the court during poor shooting efforts like Thursday night against Milwaukee as bad omens for going forward or -- at the least -- something the big man needs to get in order quickly. Then, they get on to a much happier topic: James Harden. With the guard looking like his All-NBA self, the trio discusses the most heartening aspects of his first two outings on the season. Plus assorted thoughts on Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Danuel House, P.J. Tucker, Montrezl Harrell and many more. The NBA season has begun. (The pre-season has begun, anyway.) Regardeless of that, the Philadelphia 76ers are back playing basketball outside of scrimmages and practices. It's time to face other NBA opponents! The first of which was the Brooklyn Nets last night where the Sixers won in Brooklyn by the score of 127-108. Obviously, there's a reason why this game had special meaning to it. It was the first time any of us got to see what Ben Simmons would look like playing with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. (Many Sixers fans made the trip up to Brooklyn, and kudos to you guys. Ya'll are the real MVPs.) For the Sixers, neither Joel Embiid nor James Harden played to keep them healthy and fresh for the regular season. Among the regularly scheduled starters, Tyrese Maxey and Tobias Harris played a half of basketball each before being sent to the bench to rest for the second half. Maxey had an incredible first seven minutes scoring 14 points and adding three assists before exiting with 20 points. Harris looked okay scoring nine points with the time he was allotted (more on that idea in the second half of the podcast). Sixers fans also got to see a few new additions to the roster like Montrezl Harrell and De'Anthony Melton. How did everyone look? Adio Royster and Dave Early answer those questions as well as talk about the idea of summer chemistry leading to success in season. Joel Embiid is now an American citizen, and what kind of new facial gear should Embiid come on the court with this year. (His face isn't broken. You'll just have to listen to the pod to see what we mean.) Go Sixers Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Do they sign someone or wait? Do they spend more money? Is Carmelo Anthony an answer? What about Montrezl Harrell? John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal opens up the mailbag to answer those questions and a lot more. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!
