Paul Reid - Living a generous life by Breathe New Life Church
Priscilla Reid - To the least of these by Breathe New Life Church
A message from Ian Byrd, Apostolic Team Leader of Lifelinks International on Sunday 27th April. In 2 Chronicles, chapter 20, we read about King Jehoshaphat whose army was faced with huge enemy armies. Turning to God, he prayed in front of the community of Judah and Jerusalem and admitted that he and his army were utterly powerless and dependent upon Him. In order to be successful and overcome the enemies that we face in life, we too need to take three key steps. Firstly, we need to give up and let go of the worthless idols in our lives. Secondly, we need to look up in prayer to God and worship Him, remembering all that he has done. Finally, we need to step up in obedience to God, being faithful even in the smallest of things. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

Paul Jukes - Jesus is Risen (Easter Sunday 2025) by Breathe New Life Church
In this Palm Sunday message, Beccy Pitts compares two contrasting kings. Firstly King Xerxes mentioned in the book of Esther would have been the kind of king that the Jewish people would have had in mind when King Jesus rode triumphantly into Jerusalem. Although Jesus and Xerxes were similar in their ultimate authority, ownership and responsibility, they were very different. Jesus was humble whereas Xerxes grand, Jesus was perfect whereas Xerxes was flawed, and Jesus was approachable whereas Xerxes was not. Finally Jesus is an eternal King whereas Xerxes was only finite. The question Beccy poses in this message is an important one, is Jesus your king? Secondly, is he king in every area of your life? -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
During our Mother's Day service, Sara Jukes shared about being fruitful in our past, present and our future. The genealogy in Matthew 1 is proof that our past does not define us. Some of the women mentioned in the bloodline of Jesus had very colourful pasts and yet they were accepted, loved and grafted into the line of Jesus. In Luke 10, Martha was distracted as her sister sat at the feet ofJesus yet is was Jesus who was relaxed and never in a hurry. We too can relax in our present circumstances, underneath his everlasting arms. In fact, like the woman in Proverbs 31, we can be so confident of our future in Christ, we can laugh at the days to come and face tomorrow with a smile. Ben Hodgson - Everyday Evangelism by Breathe New Life Church
Paul Jukes - Fruitfulness in the Everyday (Baptism Sunday 2025) by Breathe New Life Church
Tim Davies takes a look at the first three chapters of Genesis to conclude that we were made to be fruitful and to have fruitful relationships. Adam and Eve were deceived to believe that what God had given to them was not enough and that they needed more. They failed to realise that the fruit should be given and not be taken. Receiving the fruit that God has given to us leads to freedom and intimacy; however, if we take fruit that is not rightfully ours, our selfishness leads to shame and nakedness. If we want to be fruitful, we need to keep in step with the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5) and develop that relationship above all others. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Rob Pitts - Fruitfullness in the Workplace by Breathe New Life Church
In Genesis, God gave a corporate command to be fruitful, to increase in number and to fill the earth. In this message, Ps Sara Jukes compares Genesis 11 - which is set shortly after the flood - with the New Testament passage in Acts 2 which is set on the day of Pentecost. The difference between these two similar passages lies in the fruit and in who the fruit was for! For example, the people in Genesis were self-centred, building a tower to make a name for themselves; however, the disciples in Acts 2 were Jesus-centred. Both groups of people started in one place and were together, yet Genesis ends with the people being scattered, whereas Acts ends with thousands of people being added. Similarly, Jesus gave us a corporate command to be fruitful when he said, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Mark 16:15) -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Jonny Newbould shares about fruitfulness in the context of the important question, 'what is in your hand?' It's a question that God asks of Moses in Exodus 4; it's a question that is implied by the Master in the Parable of the Talents and it is also an invitation and a question that God asks of us today. Ben looks at the miraculous events that took place in 2 Kings 4, in which Elisha instructed a desperate widow to find and fill as many jars as she possibly could with olive oil. The miracle came when she started pouring; however, she had to first of all find the oil. Like many of us, we can miss the oil (or the fruit) in our lives because we see it as insignificant and small. We also need to find jars (or containers) to pour the oil into. These may be disciplines, habits and routine that help protect the fruit and are also the people who are in our lives. It is clear that our own personal fruitfulness can lead to our corporate fruitfulness as a church or the fruitfulness of our own families, providing that we, like Jesus and like the widow in the story, keep on pouring. Paul shares from Genesis 28:10-22 about Jacob who vowed to give a tithe to God, providing that God blessed him. This conditional vow demonstrated that Jacob was a work in process and so are we. Jacob had flaws that limited his ability to be fruitful but like Jacob, we can overcome them with God's help! Esau was hungry for stew, Jacob had a hunger for himself, the Prodigal Son was hungry for home. What are you hungry for? Like Jacob, let's be hungry for God and seek him in prayer and fasting. to God which was If God blesses him, he will give a tithe. From the very beginning in Genesis, God has wanted his people to be fruitful and to multiply (Genesis 1:28). In John 15, Jesus makes it clear that God wants fruit, he wants much fruit and he wants fruit that will last. In this Vision Sunday message, Pastors Paul and Sara Jukes talk about how we can be fruitful personally as well as corporately as a church. Paul Jukes - The Christmas Story is a Story of Light by Breathe New Life Church
Continuing our series on Jesus, the Light of the World, Tim shares about seeing the light and following the light. We learn from Genesis 1, that even in chaos and darkness, the Spirit of God is hovering. In the beginning was the Word (logos) and when God spoke, there was light! If we allow God to shine on us, we'll have the power to grasp how much he loves us. Like the Wise Men in the Christmas story, we should follow the light to Jesus and worship Him. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Steff Hodgson - The Christmas Upgrade by Breathe New Life Church
Paul Jukes - Baptism (Baptism Sunday 2024) by Breathe New Life Church
In this message on Ephesians 4 and 5, Ben unpacks how to live as a Child of Light. If we are adopted into the family of God, we have received a new identity, a new inheritance, a new privilege, and a new status; therefore, we should live differently! We should throw off our old sinful nature and put on our new nature, created to be like God. For example, if you are a thief, you should quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need. As Children of Light, we should ensure that our light isn't too blinding and that we are not judgemental of those who walk in darkness. We should always be humble, gentle and patient, speaking the truth in love. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

Paul Jukes - Carrying the Fire by Breathe New Life Church
Jonny Newbould - Light on a Hill (All in Service) by Breathe New Life Church
No one would light a lamp and then hide it, put it under a basket or under a bed. A version of this parable appears in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and also in Luke; however, in different places and possibly for different purposes. Using all 3 versions, Ben shares a message titled, 'How to Shine.' In order to shine well, we should show our good deeds with good intention (Matthew 5:14-16), listen with good ears to gain good understanding (Mark 4:21-25), and open our good eyes to share the good news (Luke 11:33-36). Speaking from Matthew 5, verses 13 to 16, Paul unpacks the three metaphors mentioned - a city on a hill, the salt of the earth and the light of the world - which we need to choose to be as individuals and as the church. Like a city on a hill, we are always on display to those in our world, and we cannot be hidden; therefore, we need to be careful how we live our lives because people are watching! Salt is designed to give flavour, to preserve and to bring healing; therefore, we need to ensure that we don't get contaminated with material things, compromising our walk and losing the flavour in our lives. Finally, we are to be the light of the world, reflecting Jesus, and pointing people to Him. In this message, Sara Jukes talks about praying for the lost. In Luke 15, Jesus uses the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin and the lost son to illustrate how we should behave towards those who are away from Jesus. Like the shepherd who leaves 99 sheep to find the 1, we need to move out of our comfort zone and recklessly go after the lost in prayer, like Jesus would. Like the one who lost a precious coin, we need to turn on the light to invite Jesus in, sweep the house so that the whole house will benefit and search carefully, peacefully and not frantically. Finally, like the Father who expectantly waited for the return of the prodigal son, we need to hope and believe for the return of prodigals even whilst they are "still a long way off." Paul Jukes - Samson: Leaning to trust by Breathe New Life Church
In this message, Tim approaches the subject of God's love for us, not from an intellectual standpoint but from the heart. Psalm 42 talks about a deep love that sweeps over us, yet so many of us stay in the shallows because of fear, guilt and shame. We all have insecurities, but it is only Jesus who can fix them. All we need to do is to repent of our wrong thinking and give all of our guilt and shame to Jesus. We need not be rooted in our insecurities but as it says in Ephesians 3, we can be 'rooted and established in love.' May you grasp the fulness of God's love for you! Paul Jukes - Rooted in Faith by Breathe New Life Church
In asking the question, ‘where does my hope come from?', Ben uses Romans 15, verse 13 to provide the answer. The verse clearly states that God is the source of all hope, and we are to pray to him, and ask for hope. We can also get hope (alongside peace and joy) during trials and difficulties, and the scriptures should also give us hope too! Finally, it is the Holy Spirit who empowers us to overflow with confident hope. Just as the colour of a hydrangea flower is determined by the soil it is planted in, what we produce, who we become and what we show other people is determined by what we are rooted in. In a message titled, 'Rooted in Identity' , Sara Jukes looks at the example of Jacob who, like us, was tempted to be someone else and hide his true identity, even from, his own Father! Perhaps we too, need to go through a wrestling process with God where we are honest with our struggles and where we receive a new name, a new identity and a new inheritance. Matt Oakes - The anatomy of a great mentor by Breathe New Life Church
Continuing with our Rooted to Relate series, Ethan Barrett shares about Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, with a message titled, 'How Daniel Mentored a King.' Daniel was rooted in a culture and a time that was in direct opposition to the God whom he was rooted in and yet he remained faithful to his convictions and continued to be a positive influence to those around him, including the King! In order to remain rooted we, like Daniel, need to dig deep and invest in our own relationship with God. Secondly, we need to get rooted through humility and give God all of the glory at every chance we get. Finally, we need to look at the ultimate example of Jesus Christ, who was the perfect example of a friend, a mentor and a leader. As part of our Rooted to Relate series, Rachel Roberts shares from personal experience about how to build a circle of close friends. Using the example of Jesus and his friendships with with Peter, James and John, Rachel points out that we need to first of all, build trust with a close circle of people who will help us grow in our faith in God. On the mountain of transfiguration, Jesus revealed himself to Peter, James and John in a very unique and personal way. In much the same way, we need people in our lives who will lead us to Jesus and we need to have people whom we reveal Jesus to. Rachel concludes by highlighting the importance of serving on teams in church in helping us make friendships and build relationships. In this message, Ethan Asplin looks at the relationship between sisters Martha and Mary in the New Testament. We too can have very different personalities to our brothers and sisters and yet we can still share the same faith. In Luke 10, Martha served Jesus, whilst Mary did what is better by sitting at the feet of Jesus. In John 11, after the death of their brother Lazarus, Martha goes to find Jesus, whereas Martha stays at home. Upon finding Jesus, Martha convinced her sister to come to Jesus with the words, “The teacher is here and he is asking for you” which are the very words that Jesus is speaking to you as He encourages you to respond to Him. Martha and Mary were different, but they both got distracted, Martha with serving and Mary was consumed with her grief and yet they both responded to Jesus. In this message, Krystian Belicki shares about Ruth and Naomi whom we can read about in the Old Testament book of Ruth. After the tragic death of Naomi's husband and the her two sons, Ruth remained loyal to her mother-in-law saying, "where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay." In much the same way, Jesus laid down His life for His friends (John 15:13). Ruth demonstrated remarkable faithfulness in the face of incredible adversity. Ruth and Naomi play an incredible role in history following the eventual marriage between Ruth and Boaz, who have a child who was to be the grandfather of King David, of the line of Jesus! Krystian concludes with the powerful point that God is still writing your story too! During this All In Service, Deb Newbould breaks down John chapter 3, verse 16 (John 3:16) by talking about who God is. As the verse states, 'God so loved the world' and yet love isn't something that God has or something that He does, but love is who God is! God loves the world unconditionally, even those who will never love Him in return. He loves us all so much that He gave His life for us by dying on the cross. In the same way, once we have received the gift of God's love, we are to take His love into the world and are called to 'so love' God and to 'so love' other people. In 2 Samuel, chapter 6, we read about King David who danced 'before the Lord with all his might.' Michal, David's husband and the daughter of the old king (Saul), despised him in her heart. David listened to the voice of God, whereas Michal was still listening to the voice of Saul. We can often do the same thing, by listening to the voices of other people over the voice of God. David knew that he was chosen, whereas Michal was insecure, forgetting that she was the bride of the King! In this message Paul Jukes shares 6 things that illustrate that we are chosen by God and have no need to be insecure: 1. God comforts us 2. We are held by God 3. We are owned by God, purchased with His blood 4. We are secure in God 5. God encourage us 6. God nurtures us For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
In a message on boundaries and relationships, Steff Hodgson shares a message titled, 'The yes, the no and the maybe.' Jesus said during His Sermon on the Mount, "Let what you say be simply ‘Yes' or ‘No'" (Matthew 5:37) and mentioned no grey areas. For many, the traditions of Christianity look incredibly restrictive; however, when you read them from a place of relationship (not religion), they are only positive! Jesus-centred living is clearly the way to go, because when we truly live Jesus-centred, we won't need boundaries and won't ever get close enough to need them! In this message, Steff gives us some ways in which we can ensure that we're not drawn away from Jesus, and that we don't draw others away, such as staying sharp, belonging without fitting in, and loving like Jesus. In a message about relationships, Sara Jukes shares about Elijah (1 Kings 17) and two important lessons we can learn from his life, lessons that also appear in the lives of Adam and Eve (Genesis 2-3). The first lesson is to trust God to provide the right people in our lives. Just as God provided Eve for Adam, he provided the right people for Elijah at the times he needed. The second lesson - which really should be the first - is that we need to admit that we need God more than any other person. Adam and Eve needed God more than anyone else, as did Elijah! We need to depend on God and force the independence out of us. The good news is that, like He did with Elijah, God wants to redeem, restore and recommission us. In this message on Romans 13:11-14, Paul Jukes talks about how we can win the internal battle, fight the good fight of faith and overcome our struggles. Romans 13 instructs us to wake up from our slumber, as well as clothe ourselves with Jesus Christ, putting on the armour of light. Like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, we try to cover ourselves with fig leaves, such as consuming pleasures, clinging to relationships, and competing with others. In order to overcome, we need to put on Jesus every day and value his thoughts over our own.
