What if the ordinary parts of your life could be transformed into something extraordinary? Jesus took ordinary water and transformed it into the best wine at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11). This transformation was birthed out of the obedience of the wedding servants who were instructed to follow Jesus' instructions. Jesus' kindness in saving the family from the shame of running out of wine, amplified the transformation. The transformation was abundant. Jesus didn't just provide enough, the amount of wine was extravagant. Similarly, the Great commission (Matthew 28) requires us to breathe new life, obedience, care and also abundance. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
On the day of Pentecost, the disciples were all together and heard a sound like a violent wind from heaven, they saw what seemed to be tongues of fire, and all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues (Acts 2). The disciples went from timid people to courageous people, from inward-looking people to outward looking and they were all empowered to speak. Finally, Pentecost created a new, unified community. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
In Luke 18, Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, ... for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." On Dedication Sunday, Sara Jukes looked at the hindrances to childlike faith and the qualities of kingdom children. We need to be Jesus centred rather than self-centred, rooted in God rather than shallow, together and dependent instead of egocentric, broad in faith rather than narrow minded and far-reaching instead of selfish. In order to go through the narrow gate, we need to decrease and go low like little children. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

What can we learn about prayer from Jesus? Jesus prayed at the start of the day and before doing anything or going to anyone else. He also prayed in the out-working and during the day-to-day activity of life. When life got busy and loud, Jesus woke up even earlier! He spent the night praying about the big decisions in life and prayed in the painful situations, such as hours before his crucifixion. Jesus prayed for other people and He is also praying and interceding for us too; therefore, we should be praying for other people too. Finally, Jesus prayed at the end; He prayed on the cross for you and me. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
On Easter Sunday, Paul Jukes identified three problems that Jesus' resurrection solved for us. The first problem is confusion which needs a Prophet to speak God's truth in order to direct our paths. When we feel lost or confused, we can call on Jesus, the greatest of all Prophets. The problem of separation and condemnation can be solved by the Priest. Jesus came to restore our peace with God by sacrificing His own body on the cross. Finally, in a world of oppression and chaos , we need a (caring) King to establish a heavenly kingdom in our hearts and to conquer sin and death in this world. Who do you need this Easter? Jesus is wearing the hat of Prophet, Priest and King and you can call on Him today. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Concluding our Fulfilment series on the heart, head, hands and huddle, Paul Jukes shared a Palm Sunday message about 3 huddles or crowds that Jesus faced and how He overcame them. As Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem, the crowd shouted, "Hosanna", and yet the same crowd later called for His crucifixion. People are often moved by emotion, whereas faith is all about discipleship and steadfastness. In order to overcome our fickle nature, we need to be devoted. The second crowd, known as the religious elite, had a system that lacked mercy and grace. In order to overcome this, we need to be honest and true. Finally, in order to overcome the huddle of the inner circle we need forgiveness and grace. Jesus' disciples, including Peter, vowed never to deny Jesus and yet they all betrayed Him. We, like Jesus, need to be people of devotion, honesty, forgiveness and grace. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

Fr Antony Jukes says Jesus doesn't explain human suffering but instead enters into it fully by embracing the Cross, suffering alongside humanity and showing that he truly understands what it means to feel forsaken. Even in our darkest moments, Jesus not only sympathises with those who suffer but fully empathises with them.
On Mothering Sunday 2026, Sara Jukes continued our Fulfilment series about heart, head, hands and huddle. In this message, Sara focused on the head and challenged us to fill our mind with Jesus. Negative thoughts inevitably come to us all, therefore, it is vitally important that we remember who we are by practicing mindfulness and gratitude, recognising and identifying what we are thinking about. Secondly, we need to take our thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and make them obedient to Christ and His word. We can do this by meditating on His word in the Bible; however, memorising and quoting scripture is not enough. We need to put off our old self and put on a new mindset (Ephesians 4:22-24), filling our mind with Jesus. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Sara Jukes asks the question, 'how is your heart?' in this message about the unfortunately named, 'woman with the issue of blood' (Mark 5). We all have issues that prevent us from coming to Jesus; however, like this woman, there are things that we can do in order to push through our personal crowd. For example, if we don't feel that we are good enough, we need to push through and believe that we are chosen and worthy (Colossians 2). This woman gave her whole heart to Jesus, sharing the whole truth about her issue, and at once, the bleeding stopped. Her breakthrough was immediate, but her restoration was a process. Similarly, our own path to restoration starts with confession, results in Jesus' acceptance and forgiveness and our response should then be one of celebration. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
During our 9:15am and 11:15am services, Paul Jukes shared a message about fulfilment based on the creation account in Genesis. The God who fills was hovering over the waters in the beginning and is still with us in our chaos. Before God fills something, He forms it first. He formed the sky through separation in order to create the space for Him to fill. In the same way, He's forming each of us and he's also forming His church. So if He is forming you, He intends to fill you! All that you need to do is trust the process and trust in Him, your fulfiller. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
Fr Antony Jukes reflects on the Prodigal Son parable and says indifference to others' suffering leads to indifference to their joy, while true compassion — suffering with someone — opens the heart to share fully in their restoration
Fr Antony Jukes says the Latin word compassio, or compassion, means “to suffer with,” not just to help from the outside. While suffering isn't caused by God or made easier by faith, it can become a moment of grace where love is revealed and deepened
On Sunday 8th February, we celebrated all of the many nations represented at Breathe New Life Church. Sara Jukes shared a message about God's global heart, based on chapters 3 and 4 in Acts. In the face of threats, imprisonment and persecution, the early church were a praying community. After they prayed (Acts 4:31), they were unified as one in heart and mind and became a caring community. As a result, they also became a worldwide community of power as they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. If we pray together, we too can be a worldwide community of prayer, care and power. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
In his message on Offering Sunday 2026, Ps Paul Jukes challenged us to consider our motives when giving to God. In scripture, there are those who give to show off what they have, those who give with the expectation to be paid back and those who give to fulfil their religious duty. These types of givers will only ever receive short-term fulfilment. If we're looking for long-term fulfilment and eternal rewards, our motive for giving should be to give wholeheartedly to the Lord, like Mary who anointed the feet of Jesus with perfume worth a year's wages (John 12:3). Mary was influenced by worship and service and her reward was the presence of Jesus and the favour of God. There is nothing more precious than that! -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
On Vision Sunday, our Senior Pastors Paul and Sara Jukes unpacked our vision focus for the year; a year of Fulfilment. Based on Ephesians 1:22-23 which states that God placed everything under the feet of Jesus, appointed Him to be the head over His church, which is the body of Christ, the fulness of Him who fills everything in every way. As we grow in maturity individually, the church also grows in love, which is the fulfilment of the Law (Romans 13:10). Both Paul and Sara shared about how we are to become a worldwide caring community by loving our brothers and sisters around the world. We'll then become worldwide praying community and finally, a worldwide community of power. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
In this message on Review Sunday, Sara Jukes used the example of King David to model 3 things we can do in order to approach our past in a healthy way. Firstly to reflect, then to release and finally to renew. Our past experiences are important because they help to form us; however, we need to allow our past gratitude to shape our future attitude, and in order to grow beyond our yesterday, we should give thanks for our struggles and allow them to shape us and for God to give us victory in our future. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

We read in Luke 2 about the shepherds who were terrified and the host of heavenly angels who praised God, leading to the shepherds glorifying and praising God too! This was not so much a silent night, but most likely a noisy one! In this Carol Service message, Sara Jukes asked the question about what we are listening to this Christmas. We can choose to listen to the fear, the disappointment and the negativity, or we can tune into Jesus' playlist of peace, joy and hope! In a message about fruitful serving and attendance, Paul Jukes shared about the paralyzed man who was carried to Jesus, through the roof of a house (Luke 5:17-26) which proves that there is a power in showing up and a power in agreement. Fruitfulness begins with showing up, being there for others and requires pushing through barriers as well as humility. Just as Jesus had to trust the Father to raise him from the dead, the paralyzed man had to trust that he would be lifted up after he had been lowered down. Similarly, we need to trust God to lift us out of our dark circumstances. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian
On Remembrance Sunday, Sara Jukes began our disciplines and discipleship series with a message about relationships and connections. In Nehemiah 3, we read of God's fruitful work in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, which the people did as a team. God's work is all about teamwork. If we take ownership and work together, God will turn our mundane into the magnificent and bring about restoration and redemption. -------- For more information about Breathe New Life Church or if you'd like to make a decision to follow Jesus, visit our website here: https://breathenewlife.church/becomeachristian

Send us a textWhat legacy will you leave behind when you're gone? The question haunts us all in quiet moments, but we typically frame it in terms of material possessions—property, money, heirlooms. Today's exploration upends that notion completely, inviting us to consider that the most profound inheritance may not be tangible at all.Drawing from powerful scriptural foundations in Genesis, Psalms, and Proverbs, we uncover how biblical figures like Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and Daniel weren't primarily beneficiaries of material inheritance. Rather, they received something far more enduring—a spiritual legacy, a blessing, a covenant relationship with God that transformed not just their lives but generations that followed. "A righteous man leaves an inheritance to his children's children," Proverbs tells us, but what is that inheritance exactly? The answer comes through a remarkable historical comparison between Jonathan Edwards and Max Jukes—contemporaries born in the early 1700s who left dramatically different imprints on the world. Edwards, the renowned theologian whose descendants included 100+ lawyers, multiple senators, governors, college presidents, and even a U.S. Vice President, versus Jukes, whose family line produced hundreds of premature deaths, imprisoned individuals, and societal burdens costing millions. Their contrasting legacies offer a profound lesson: "Your biology cannot stand your spirituality." The spiritual DNA we pass down often proves more influential than genetic inheritance. This truth challenges us all. What are we preparing to leave behind? A force of blessing that empowers generations, or patterns that perpetuate struggle? As the poem concludes: "Legacy is not left behind, it's passed on voice to mind. Choose your seed, choose your soil, choose your sun. The story is told when life is done." What does it meant to be a creative animal? Writing a book and having a baby can be oddly similar experiences: both take a long time and are not exactly pain-free. Alice and Charlotte have even done both at once, and in today's episode we talk about what it's like to bring a book and a baby into the world simultaneously, and to write about it along the way. We're joined today by Helen Jukes, the author of Mother Animal, a memoir of pregnancy and birth and an unforgettably visceral exploration of the physical transformations of motherhood. Helen is an author and nature writer who has thought deeply about the complex physical experiences of mothering and writing. Mother Animal charts the diverse variations on mothering found in the animal kingdom, and sparks our discussion today on what else mothering can look like and what it can mean more deeply as a creative process. How important is community to the way we nurture new life? What do we mean when we talk about “natural” processes, and can a focus on nature blind us to the realities of toxicity and pollution? And how can we nurture the wild and animalistic sides of ourselves? How do you balance the different forms of creativity in your life?In Haste is presented by Alice Vincent and Charlotte Runcie, and is produced by Holly Fisher for Hasty Productions. Original music by Maria Chiara Argiró and graphic design by Alicia Fernandes. Get full access to In Haste at inhaste.substack.com/subscribe
British author Helen Jukes joins us to talk about motherhood in the animal kingdom, and what human mothers can learn from mothers from other species. What is “natural” about motherhood, what is the true nature of motherhood across species? What can we learn by allowing ourselves to truly see and examine the many roles of the mother in nature? At one poetic and rigorous, Helen Jukes' beautiful new book, Mother / Animal, is an illuminating exploration of her own matrescence through the lens of motherhood in the animal world. In this episode Libby and Nick dive into the baby pool of politics. We chat about the inauguration: the fashion (Usha Vance and Republican pink), VIP goodie bags, the noticeable absence of Michelle Obama, and what the lip readers were saying. We also speculate about Jennifer Aniston and President Obama allegedly dating! We describe our experience with a dry (ish) January - searching for decent non-alcoholic beers and wines - despite the fact that we need the real thing more now that we are parents of teenagers! We also chat about our youngest playing peewee basketball at the YMCA - and the butt of it all. We wrap up with our favorites: Landman, NA beers, Anne Wilso and Morgan Wallen, eeboo puzzles, Dear Edward book by Ann Napolitano, and Jukes red wine alternative.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.” - Carl Jung Would it not be great if you had financial freedom? Everyone dreams of this elusive state of comfort and choice without actively working. However, the journey to it goes beyond monetary gains. “I wasn't bound to a style,” Al Kooper has said. He was talking about his guitar playing but just as easily could have been talking about the totality of Al Kooper, songwriter, musician, singer, producer, band director. “If anything, I was known for being in the right place at the right time and playing the right thing.” Kooper has been at the heart of rock & roll's time/space continuum for much of its history.Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes emerged from the New Jersey Shore in 1974. Though they carried a significant influence (and some key personnel) from Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Jukes evolved as more of a white R&B horn band in the Memphis tradition embodied by Stax Records. Organized by singer John “Southside Johnny” Lyon, guitarist and songwriter Steve Van Zandt (who decamped for the E Street Band in 1975 but continued to produce, manage, and write songs for the Jukes), and Richie “La Bamba” Rosenberg, the band is well known for its high-energy live shows and no-holds-barred songs. The Jukes' brand of raucous soul, roots-tinged rock, and bluesy reverie has flourished across the band's long career. Rolling Stone named Hearts of Stone one of the top 100 albums of the 1970s and '80s.
Yorkshire couple Matthew Glover and Jane Land created Veganuary at their kitchen table. Inspired by Movember, their concept of challenging the nation to try veganism for a month gained incredible momentum via social media, and became a global organisation. But, along the way, it drained their finances, crashed their servers, and ate up their Christmasses... In this interview with Olly, the husband-and-wife entrepreneurs consider the flaws of their early strategy; take us behind-the-scenes of the iconic Greggs' Vegan Sausage Roll; and reveal how they've faced down criticism from within the vegan movement, the meat lobby and Piers Morgan… _____________ The health theme continues in the Zeitgeist, for which Ollie Peart investigates the trend for low and no alcohol wine and spirits. From miniature cordials by high-end ‘wine' brand Jukes, to a sparkling bottle of Muri's Sherbert Daydream, Ollie attempts to persuade us there's so much more to the zero-booze booze market than Beck's Blue and Shloer. But, armed with a trio of mixers from British start-up Three Spirits and a miniature bottle of orange juice from Pret, can he persuade Olly to give up his dirty martinis? _____________ Elsewhere, in the Foxhole, Alix Fox advises a listener whose teenage trans daughter has, she suspects, become intimate with her girlfriend - another trans girl she met at her boys' school. Stepping around the inevitable minefield this question might attract, Alix consults Dee Lou Whitnell, trans activist and founder of the #TransKidsDeserveToGrowUp campaign, to offer stellar advice on supporting this young couple - whilst steering them away from potential problems. _____________ For our record of the month, it's over to piano man Tom Odell, whose new song, Black Friday, comes from his new album of the same name. _____________ If you have a question you'd like to put to Alix, a trend you'd like Ollie to try, a Mannbassadorship request, or a letter for Olly to read out, just fill in the Feedback form on our website, https://modernmann.co.uk There you'll also find our Beer Money page where you can donate to the show AND HELP US CONTINUE TO MAKE IT. Thanks! … And we'll see you again on February 10th. _____________________ Presenter: Olly Mann. Contributors: Alix Fox, Ollie Peart, Matthew Glover, Jane Land, Tom Odell. Producer: Matt Hill.
