Kathryn interviews Author Bella DePaulo PhD.It's common knowledge that single women are lonely, desperate for a partner, and envious of every couple they see. Spinsters struggle later in life, never feel fulfilled, and would just love for you to set them up with your neighbor's nephew. But, what if society's ideas about single people—who, by the way, comprise half of the adult population—are wrong? Bella DePaulo PhD challenges the notion that single life is something people settle for, and shows that for millions, in every part of the world, being unpartnered is the key to their most joyful, fulfilling, authentic, and psychologically rich life. Drawing on more than three decades of social science research, and her own experience as a 70-year-old woman happily single her entire life, DePaulo—whose TEDx Talk on the topic has more than 1.7 million views—paints a bold and groundbreaking picture of the myriad benefits of investing in your single life. Bella DePaulo PhD ( Harvard University) has always been single and always will be. The Atlantic calls her “America's foremost thinker and writer on the single experience.”Kathryn also interviews Author Dr. Kathleen Corley.Without question, schools today grapple with obstacles unheard of a generation ago, and yet, elementary school principal Dr. Kathleen Corley has figured out how to transform her school into a warm, nurturing community where students embrace a passion for learning. As a 40-year veteran in elementary education, she shares how to overcome current obstacles in education with human interest stories that illuminate a brighter path forward. Using humor, insight and optimism, Dr. Corley reminds readers that despite the problems in schools today — disagreements about what students should or should not be taught, the lingering effects of COVID, etc. — magic still happens in classrooms. She who has been called a Pied Piper of Education, can be seen leading the student drumline down the halls of Palmetto's Finest Award-winning Red Cedar Elementary School.

In this episode: Reflecting on series three and our new perspective on the relationship we have with ourselves. Why our brains want us to fail – it's up to us to switch the narrative. He took daily medication to address it, and also prayed to God every night. His illness affected more than just his growth — it affected several bodily functions. Eventually, his family's insurance ran out, preventing him from receiving treatment. This moment was full of strong emotions — specifically anger.Jon and his mother prayed one final time in a car. According to Jon, God healed him during the prayer. A medical test indicated that he was well.In that moment, Jon decided he would follow Jesus. But this was only the beginning of his journey.[00:07:47] Jon: "And as soon as I made that decision, like, God, I'm going to pursue with everything I have? My life got ten times harder."[00:08:06] The True Beginning of Jon's JourneyJon grew up in a culture of athletics, but his illness made it nearly impossible. He saw God's healing as a sign that he should play football.Jon went on to train extremely hard — four hours a day for six days a week.Unfortunately, the next seven years were marked with difficult, strong emotions: depression, suicidal ideation, and even seeing demons in the night.Jon thought God had abandoned him. But he learned that there was a spiritual explanation for his hardship: his strong emotions, especially his anger.Listen to the full episode for the story behind Jon's anger and rage.[00:12:51] Practical Steps to Fighting a Spiritual BattleThe true war is in the spirit; your spirit is what the Enemy wants to take.Jon recommends starting with Scripture. It became Jon's weapon in spiritual warfare. Next, take every thought and make it obedient to Christ.Jon waged a spiritual war all throughout high school. His spiritual community helped him stay true to his faith.[19:20] Jon: "One of the biggest reasons we struggle is because we are in isolation, and not in community."Jon achieved so much in the physical world, but he learned he would not be able to survive this world without God.[22:37] A New HeartJon's strong emotions — his anger, his rage — were replaced by God. God gave him a new heart.Jon learned to use his anger to instead do something good.He played the most violent positions in football, but the loss of anger in his heart made it difficult to play those roles.[31:03] Our Experiences Write Us[31:06] Jon: "Every one of us has a past, everyone has had a childhood. And every one of us has experiences that have happened over the course of time that have impacted us in a deeply profound way."Powerful events, experiences, and strong emotions all change parts of us down to the genetic level.Bring those experiences to the Lord; not doing so leaves the door open to the Enemy.Jon has four basic questions that help people manage and handle strong emotions. Listen to the complete episode for the full process.[39:40] Strong Emotions; Strong DesiresOur gut reactions are an attempt to fulfill a deeper, internal desire that's not being met.Processing emotion helps us identify the desires within us. Even Jesus had strong emotions — he too flipped tables. The critical thing to do in that moment is to find the act that would glorify God.[46:49] Reagan: "Keep praying. The Lord just keeps reminding me: keep praying. He can do anything."[49:29] The Future for Jon OdomJon dreams of seeing people come to know who Jesus is.Jon believes that the way we become like Jesus is by beholding and doing our best to see the truth behind what Scripture portrays him to be.We are challenged to see the glory of God and to fix our eyes on it.Enjoyed this Episode? If you did, subscribe and share it with your friends!Post a review and share it! Today I want to give you a simple 7 Step Process for creating Success and Fullfillment in your life that was given to me by my Mentor Robert Stuberg. I encourage you to really read, listen and study the principles and concepts becuase they will change your life forever. Thanks for listening. George Wright III The Secret: The Single Most Powerful Idea in the World While scientists, philosophers, and theologians may disagree with one another on many points, this is an idea that no one can deny. This is the starting point for all success. If you think this is simply what some people call “The Law of Attraction,” you'll want to study this concept carefully because it's much, much more. It involves everything from your DNA to your environment to your daily thoughts to the essence of the person you are becoming. The Question: The Question That's Shaping Your Life What controls our thoughts and actions are the questions we ask. In fact, it's correct to say that all progress begins by asking a better question. Don't go another day without discovering the key question that is controlling your thinking and shaping every aspect of your life. The Emotion: The Ultimate Condition You Are Seeking Most people don't know what they really want in life, and you can never get enough of what you don't want. (Read that sentence again!) Don't get caught in the trap of achieving what you don't really want in the first place. Make sure you know your ultimate target and outcome. Learn what's most important to you in life, what conditions you are striving to attain, and how to access them. The Talent: The Essential Talent or Ability That Defines You Life reaches a plateau for most people because they never discover their Unique TalentTM. It's the most valuable thing that they can offer to the world. Moreover, we all have a Unique TalentTM. Our job is to discover this talent and then develop it to the fullest. This is what will allow you to experience the best of what life has to offer. Focus in on your Unique TalentTM so you can invest your life for maximum return. The Goal: The Goal That Will Give You Meaning and Satisfaction Setting and pursuing the wrong goals in life is worse than having no goals at all. This is probably why so many people become disillusioned with the idea of setting goals in first place. Don't spend your life chasing the wrong goals. Learn to pursue only those goals that are worthy of your time and talents. Doing so will give you unbelievable power and focus in life. The Formula: The Only Success Formula That Really Works There is only one formula that produces extraordinary success and it has never changed throughout all of recorded history. Learn this formula today and begin using its full power. Once you learn this formula, you'll be able to achieve those goals that are most meaningful to you. The Path: The Journey of Lifetime Growth and Abundance The only life worth living is a life of ongoing growth and abundance. Your ability to stay enthusiastic, motivated, alert, receptive, and happy will determine your ultimate success or failure. The final step is all about resisting the status quo by continuing to learn, change, and adapt. Focus on studying, practicing, and teaching what fascinates you the most in the service of others.

What we covered:The fear of failure can be your biggest struggle and your best allyThe importance of failure and why giving up isn't an option. Why belief in yourself is your biggest weapon against difficulties and adversities. Why happiness shouldn't be the end goal. How important motivation can be when you want to know what it's like to succeed. The importance of having a strong mindset, especially when you're just starting out.Tweetable Quotes:“I love being happy as much as the next person does. But if you set happiness as your goal, you're setting yourself up for failure. The key is fulfillment, not happiness.”“People aren't afraid of failing so much that they're being afraid of being a failure.”“All people need is permission. They just need somebody to go “yeah, go ahead. You can do this.”“Once you realize that failure doesn't mean that you're a failure, it gives people the license to act more broadly”“It can be a little overwhelming. But if you take things really slow again, just starting out real simple (and) childlike.. Kourtney Kardashian has finally found a love worth sticking with. People have criticized her for not marrying the father of her 3 kids, Scott Disick. However, she knew that he could NOT provide her with the love and affection that she truly desired. She wasn't willing to be his backup. The disrespect that he has displayed throughout the years proved unworthy of Kourtney. He was always messing up, stepping out and dealing with substance abuse. That is a lot. And no woman should EVER settle. She has a glow about her now that she is with Travis Barker and I am here for it! Congratulations Kourtney! #ashsaidit

If you have been hearing (or ignoring) that voice in the back of your head and heart, tugging at you for weeks, months, years, which says you might want to be doing something different - this week's episode is for you! Today we are chatting with Purpose Coach and Strategist, Megan Accardo. Megan has had multiple career paths (family therapist, 15 years in the corporate world producing events for high-profile and celebrity clients), and through the course of her career, she began to realize that her real love was in having transformational conversations and mentoring, and eventually took the leap to start her own coaching business. To make this scary, big shift? She felt her core values starting to shift within, and she recoginzed that a change needed to happen. Core values shifting. Connecting with your higher purpose and self. Asking yourself what brings you joy and abundance. Awareness around these thoughts aren't often talked about as we walk the career path and definitely should be. It takes giving yourself permission to change your mind, looking within yourself about what really makes you happy, and feeling aligned in what you are doing to chart a new course. And that's exactly what we dive into this week, along with Megan's top 5 tips about recognizing your core values and finding your purpose, her key happiness habits, and simplifying to amplify! Listen in for the following: It's not an easy decision to make the big pivots (or leave the golden handcuffs and the stable job), but it's always worth it in the end. Success on its own is not the completely fulfilling “be-all, end-all” we think it's going to be. And it's a bit of a shock to the system when we realize this. Fullfillment comes more from net growth, not net worth. Real purpose comes from connecting with your core values. How can you recognize what those are and maybe they aren't what you think! Financial security or freedom of time and schedule! If you enjoyed this episode, please rate, review, subscribe, and pass along to your friends! It really helps us in the #podsquad out! What do glasses, razors, and cat food have in common? Well, they are all products of our esteemed guest today: Jeff Raider. Prior to co-founding Harry's, Jeff co-founded the massively disruptive eyewear company Warby Parker, once dubbed by GQ as the “Netflix of eyecare,” and now a publicly traded multibillion dollar lifestyle brand. Through Harry's Inc, Jeff also helps run Flamingo, a women's skincare and razor company; Cat People, a cat food and goods company; and Lumē, a natural deodorant company. On today's episode, Jeff discusses inventory challenges, his mission to create products with the best customer experience possible, and the overall lessons he's learned in the DTC space over the past decade. —Guest Quote“The approach I've been pushing our team on and trying to take is: first, let's figure out where there's an issue and fix it. Then let's figure out what the root cause is. And then before we move on to the next issue, let's figure out the process or the set of systems or redundancies that we want to put in place so that this thing doesn't happen anymore.” -Jeff Raider—-Time Stamps *(0:34) Intro to Jeff*(1:50) Intro to Harry's*(4:13) What Jeff is looking for in brands*(7:22) Metrics, metrics, metrics*(13:25) What surprised Jeff about the supply chain*(12:43) How supply chains influence the customer experience*(18:56) A Massive Demand Shock*(21:10) Segment 2: Houston We Have a Problem *(25:05) Redundancy > Diversify?*(27:03) Segment 3: Shit Show Stories*(29:11) Segment 4: Back to the Future*(34:58) Segment 5: Quick Hitters—Sponsor:This podcast is powered by the team at Stord. Dave and Laurie Bilyeu are successful online resellers who have recently launched a unique fulfillment service for other resellers (eBLISS Reseller Solutions). Dave started his eBay reselling business in 2013. He grew it from a one-person side-hustle operation to a full-time business employing several team members. Laurie joined in 2017, and since then the business revenue has tripled. They also organize the official eBay-endorsed Denver Meet Up Group, which helps local eBay sellers with their businesses. They have created eBLISS to help online resellers who sell mostly thrifted items with their storage, shipping and organizational needs. They discovered there was not a viable fulfillment option in the pre-owned reselling market. As full-time eBay resellers with extensive experience in their field, they were in a unique position to create this ground-breaking option. They are passionate about partnering with fellow resellers and helping them find freedom and prosperity in their lives.
